I’m Right Here (Scorpia x reader)
(Hey folks! So this is going to be my first fanfiction on this account. I got a little bit of inspiration from other fanfics I read, so I decided to write angst for my highest kin. I hope you enjoy!)
Description: Scorpia has been away on a mission with Catra for quite some time, while her S/O, the reader, is back at the Fright Zone, waiting for her to return. However the mission turns out to be longer than expected which worries the reader as they really miss her and wonder where she is. Eventually the reader becomes distraught as they come to the conclusion that Scorpia has abandoned them.
(Fanfiction type: Angst, hurt/comfort, mild abandonment issues)
Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.
It had been over two weeks since the happy-go-lucky Force Captain Scorpia had departed on a mission alongside her begrudging fellow Force Captain Catra. You, however, were back at the Fright Zone, training with the other Horde cadets as per usual. Although it had only been a week, you were already missing her like crazy. Ever since you had hugged her goodbye as that was your usual ritual whenever she went on a mission, you felt as though you already had a hole in your heart where Scorpia was supposed to be.
When you first met this scorpion woman, you saw something in her that not many people had the capability to see. Most people saw her as nothing more than an annoyance and even creepy due to her looks, but you saw her kindness, her willingness, her loyalty, her strength, and even her goofy personality, and of course her amazing hugs. Not to mention how truly beautiful she was!
You were so compelled to her that your cheeks would turn pink and a whole kaleidoscope of butterflies danced around in your stomach whenever you were around her. The feelings were mutual. Like two peas in a pod, you and her got along so well. Like a little double act of your own, albeit her additional closeness with Catra, who would often become annoyed by yours and Scorpia’s antics. Scorpia would just be so smitten by everything you did, she found you to be the most adorable thing in the universe.
Although dating wasn’t really a thing in such a dark, cruel place such as the Horde, Scorpia couldn’t take it and asked you out in the heat of the moment. Once you heard those words, you felt yourself become overcome with joy and accepted. Which is why you often had a difficult time whenever she left.
But this wasn’t a regular mission. Soon 2 weeks became 3 weeks. 3 weeks became 4 weeks. And as time went on, your heart throbbed like a ticking time bomb waiting for your girlfriend's return. No sign of her anywhere. It seemed as though she vanished out of thin air like some sort of twisted magic. Enduring every day without her struck panic into your heart. Why was she away for this long?
Eventually it had reached a whole month. By now you could barely take it anymore. The one terrible thought that haunted you like a phantom could no longer be drowned out. It simply had to be the truth. Your heart shattered like glass as you began to face facts. Your deepest, darkest fear came true. Scorpia abandoned you.
Or so you thought.
Another week and a half passed. It felt as though Scorpia herself had torn your heart into two with those big, sharp claws of hers. As painful as it was, you held back all your tears until you could no longer hold them back anymore. They seemed to have overflowed inside you.
After a long, exhausting day of training, you retreated to one of the bathrooms, your throat sore with the tears you held back. Not even switching on the light, you shut the bathroom door, until the room was shrouded in complete nebula. The booming sound of the door slamming itself shut echoed until the silence fell upon you. And immediately after, you slid down to the ground, curled up into a ball and wept. Harder and harder until your cheeks were completely soaked with tears. Although you tried to hold it together, the tears kept flowing as though your eyes were waterfalls, and your cries progressed into wailing that was thankfully muffled by your knees.
Meanwhile, having finally returned from her prolonged mission with Catra not too long ago, Scorpia had immediately started searching all around the Fright Zone looking for you. Not a moment had passed by where she hadn’t been thinking of you and she wanted to surprise you with a big hug and a souvenir from her mission (which was just a scrap of metal she found but it’s the thought that counts) but you were nowhere to be seen.
“Hey, um, you didn’t happen to see _______ around, did you?” she’d ask other Horde soldiers, to which they’d reply with “I haven’t, Force Captain, I’m sorry.”
This irritated Scorpia slightly, but only because she was so desperate to see you. She missed your beautiful smile, she missed your cute laugh, she missed your kind-heartedness, she missed the way you wrapped your arms around her like a koala clinging to bamboo. The way you truly loved her just the way she was. And she could hardly wait to reunite with you. She searched until she heard a familiar sound of weeping coming from inside the bathroom. YOUR cries.
“_______?” Scorpia slowly opened the vacant bathroom door to see you sitting on the cold floor in the dark, crying violently into your knees, your heart so broken, for you thought your beloved girlfriend had abandoned you. As soon as you noticed light from outside the bathroom shine onto you, you slowly raised your head from your knees to see Scorpia standing there, her face full of shock and concern once she saw yours covered in streaming tears. Upon seeing her, you began panicking and crying harder. You thought she had left you for good! Why was she back?
Immediately, Scorpia ran to you, engulfing you in the biggest, cosiest hug she could give, and all you could do was hug her back tightly and weep into her warm chest. The chest you thought you’d never be able to nuzzle into again.
“_______?? What’s wrong?? Why are you crying..?” She asked, completely heartbroken to see you this upset. Your voice trembling and shaky, you tried to answer “I-I THOUGHT YOU L-LEFT ME!” but your sobs soon caught up with your words. Upon hearing your response, Scorpia felt guilt weigh down on her heart like an anchor. This is why you were so distraught? Because you thought she’d abandon you in such a cruel way? “Oh _______, I could NEVER leave you...” the scorpion woman held you close to her chest.
Albeit it was hard to speak, through sobs you told her everything that had been going on, from you thinking she didn’t love you anymore to how you felt so hopeless that she was ever going to return. Hearing all of this broke Scorpia’s heart, to hear that an overrun mission had upset you THIS much?
You cried for a while, Scorpia with you the entire time, whispering to you and comforting you whilst she held you close in her large arms in the longest, most healing hug you had ever had with her. It was soothing in a surreal sort of way, you and her sat together on the floor in the dark as she softly sang to you in an attempt to calm you down. She had such a lovely voice to listen to, it made you feel so safe.
Eventually your cries began to die down to just hiccups and sniffles, and as they did you felt yourself become overcome with exhaustion from purging out your sorrows as you leaned on her chest, enjoying the sensation of what you’ve been starved of for so long. Hugs. Being in her arms again made you smile to yourself, for it felt as though your heart was whole again.
“I’m sorry, I got your uniform all wet...” Your voice hoarse and quiet, you apologised to her for leaving a damp stain on her uniform as she dried your remaining tears as gently as she could as to not hurt you. “It’s alright, don’t worry about it.” she reassured you, hugging you closer before frowning slightly. “I’m so so so sorry the mission was longer than expected. It’s a long story but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you and I’ve been worried in case you thought I had abandoned you... Sorry, I’m rambling again aren’t I? We should probably head to bed, I’m beat...”
You then felt her slide one of her large claws underneath you and the other one around you, supporting your back as she gently lifted you up. “How about you sleep with me in my bed tonight? I want to make it up to you, and I’ve missed cuddling you so much...” Scorpia asked, smiling down softly as you as she carried you in her strong arms. Having drained all your energy from crying so hard, you were too exhausted to respond verbally, instead you made a soft “mhm” noise and nodding, nuzzling into her chest, feeling your eyelids flutter closed.
After what only seemed like a few second later, you woke up from your light, dreamless slumber to the sensation of something tenderly caressing your cheek. Through eyes that were blurry with lethargy, you saw Scorpia laying beside you on her bed, softly smiling and stroking your cheek, being as gentle as she could as to not accidentally scratch you with her pincer. Her dark russet brown eyes twinkled as she gazed at how serene you looked.
“Oh! Sorry I woke you up...” the tall woman’s cheeks heated up and turned as scarlet as her sharp scorpion features. “It’s just that you looked so peaceful sleeping, I couldn’t help myself.”
Letting out a quiet chuckle, you whispered “It’s okay... I'm just glad you're back, I've missed you so, so much..." in response before nuzzling into her chest with the gentleness of a feather.
“I missed you too...” Scorpia’s words trailed off before the thought came back to her mind like a strike of lightning. “Oh! I almost forgot!” after a few seconds of silent cuddling, Scorpia suddenly piped up before reaching into her pocket for something. Though your eyes were bleary and you were on the brink of falling into slumber, you looked at her with curiosity. In her pincers she clutched a little silver scrap of metal which had been folded into the shape of a heart, holding it in front of you. “I got you a souvenir from my mission! It’s not much but I hope you like it!"
Grinning sleepily, you accepted the little gift, holding it close to you. "I love it, Scorpia, thank you..." Grinning to herself, Scorpia planted a soft kiss on your forehead before whispering “I love you so much...” Before allowing yourself to be carried down into slumber, your eyes began to flutter closed before you murmured “I love you too...” A few seconds after, you began to fall asleep, enveloped in your girlfriend’s big, warm arms.
She was right here with you, and you couldn’t be happier.
