"But Venezuelans are celebrating-" Anyone who is celebrating the invasion shouldn't even be calling themselves Venezuelans. They don't get to speak for me, my loved ones, or my country.

Saw this comment by @genquerdeer and went looking for the map. I think the map truly does speak for how "white" it is to call Hamas terrorists.
Here's a map of settler colonial powers that hate resistance to settler colonialism
Really annoying how every slightly sympathetic post to christians is treated with the grace and understanding that op isn't condoning religious extremists within that religion but as soon as I even mention Islam in any tone that's even slightly warmer than neutral,
You guys aren't beating the "we assume all Muslims are bloodthirsty and wildly misogynistic terrorists" allegations any time soon are you...
Anyways
(Mafalda art by @mecha-art )
y'all do know human rights applies to even people you dislike right? like even the shittiest most vile people still deserve rights.
and if you disagree with that, you're playing into fascist ideology. You're treating basic decency and accomodations as something to be "earned", which is the epitome of everything human rights is AGAINST.
Not only that, but you're encouraging the government to go on power trips and use people you hate as punching bags and human experimentation. which is wrong in of itself, NOBODY deserves that no matter how horrid they are, but it's also allowing any falsely accused people to be tortured.
you do know torturing a group has no real benefit to anyone, right?
this also goes for the death penalty. killing a group of people has no real benefit. it's just a power play.
the fact that many liberals care more about whether a state is "authoritarian" than whether it lifted massive swathes of its population out of poverty says a lot about their politics. they say China is bad because it's authoritarian and brush aside the 800 million people it's lifted out of abject poverty. they complain that Cuba is "authoritarian", while ignoring that it brought healthcare and education to the masses, who were left to suffer under the Batista regime. at some point you have to realize that you're condemning a country that's run in the interests of the working masses of its population
the kicker is that the marxist-leninist countries being criticised are more democratic than the liberal democracies the critics are comparing them too
Example from today:
Hell yeah CLRG!
Trans people, and all queer people, are forever welcome with the Industrial Workers of the World. Happy Pride to our queer members, and to everyone else!
hey dont be a dick to people who work in mcdonalds or clean toilets or empty bins or sweep streets or put your food through the till in the supermarket because u know what they go home to their family every night too and they are just as valid as you theyre doing these shitty jobs which means you dont have to do them so be fucking nice
I legitimately do not trust anyone who treat people in the service industry poorly.
reblog if you love archive of our own and how they firmly refuse to let censorship have any place on their platform
it's such bs that the whole guilt-ridden stoic self-sacrificing martyr thing doesn't work outside of fiction. repressing all your emotions and neglecting your physical wellbeing should make you god's most tragically beautiful morally unassailable little soldier of righteousness but all it does is give you bad skin and gastrointestinal problems
like what do you MEAN the number 1 sexiest character trait of all time is just kind of offputting and bad for you in real life. next you'll tell me smoking has consequences other than looking like a mysterious badass
not now sweetie, mommy is watching how the massive girlbossification of female characters has led to the belief that weak and vulnerable female characters are badly written characters because apparently every woman needs to be outspoken and witty and snarky and brave in order to be considered “complex” and have any value in a piece of media!!
I can’t help thinking that
"i know this show was made for children but i enjoy it too." > awesome and cool. watch whatever you want forever.
"i know it LOOKS like it was made for children but its SECRETLY for us. calling it a kids show is an insult cause kids could never understand these THEMES and EMOTIONS. we're the TRUE fans." > i dont think i trust your opinions. you seem lame as fuck.
Trying to explain to fellow usamericans that we are not oppressed for being from the USA is basically impossible. Their rebuttal is always “But what about when Europeans make jokes about us??” idgaf
The more left leaning ones will attempt to blame Europe for all the “American hate” and completely ignore any Latino, African, Asian, that also hates the USA. Eventually they’ll reach a point where they can’t ignore them, which they’ll respond with joke about cartels, starvation, poverty, war, etc. Because when it comes to defending the USA, nothing is off limits and those are all totally things that civilians have control over. But never under any circumstances make a comment related to Epstein.
reminds me of that time there was a post circulating about us imperialism and how us "leftists" liked to turn a blind eye and someone decided to reply with a whole rant about op being "a european insulting usamericans for stuff their country did too", and i had the amazing pleasure of informing them that op was in fact brazilian
i think it's mainly the subconscious yet always present belief that people from the global south aren't real people, just concepts, so therefore it's somehow unthinkable that they could be talking to you, let alone expressing a political opinion; but I think it's also a sort of defensive response, because if the person pointing out the us' atrocities is from europe, then you van use that to discredit their argument, even if what they're saying is true, saving them the trouble of thinking of an actual response
