E: Oh, that sounds rewarding. Nothing much. Just attempting to hack into something I shouldn't.
T: Don't make me kick your ass for your sarcasm, mister man. Am I going to end up getting a call to bail you out of jail? If so, before you do the thing, hack the bank and make sure I have enough money in my account to post bond.

E: What are you doing?
T: Not much, just re-watching GoT and drinking to dull the pain. Sup?
Let The Butterflies Flutter Away | Solo
Auditions had never really been a thing that made Tessa particularly anxious. Tessa was a natural performer and always had been, dance, gymnastics, cheerleading and school plays had been her thing so she was well seasoned with the auditioning process. There were butterflies, she knew she didn’t have the set of pipes or vocal range that Cadence had, but Tessa never took things too seriously, so even if she didn’t get the part she was after it wasn’t something that would break her. She did Community Theatre for fun, and it was always fun to get the chance to perform with her kid sister, and this time she had even managed to force Ethan out of his tech nerd bubble to audition. Once it was her turn, Tessa shook off the few butterflies fluttering in her belly as she made her way onto the stage, handing off her sheet music to the accompanist before taking her place center stage.
“Hello, I’m Tessa Matthews,” she announced, a bright smile playing on her lips as she looked out, making eye contact with the handsome young director. “I will be auditioning for the roles of Heather Chandler and Veronica Sawyer--and will be singing See I’m Smiling from The Last Five Years, music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown.” Tessa gave a slight nod to the pianist to signal that she was ready.
When the last note was sung, Tessa once again met the director’s gaze, smiling brightly as she thanked him for his time and consideration--her nose crinkling just so before making her exit. She was confident she would get a part, which one didn’t really matter all that much, but Tessa was definitely looking forward to being a part of the production this summer.
It’s insane what people put on the side of the streets. I found a free boombox, which is awesome because I never got to have one. It works really well, too. Except for where you put the tapes, that doesn’t work. At least there’s still radio! So cool.
Boomboxes still exist?
I don’t know if the Shuffle feature of iTunes was the best or worst thing ever invented.
I think it kind of depends, it can be fantastic if you’re using it for your full album library--but say if you’re listening to certain albums or a particular artist--you might end up getting punched in the feels if a certain song plays after another specific song. Did that make sense? I think that sentence may have gotten away from me.
If anyone is super craving mini chocolate cupcakes with strawberry icing, you should probably come to my shop today.
If you end up buying something, I highly recommend our current selection of Avengers inspired cupcakes. We’re riding high on the excitement of last month’s movie release until July when our specials will all be Harry Potter themed.

Sold. I’m a sucker for cupcakes, I’m an even bigger one for Marvel--especially if Captain America or Bucky Barnes are involved. Harry Potter? Why does that one scare me a little?
Either. Or. Both. Psh, I’m like 5th on your list of fave things so, in my oh so very humble opinion, you could make more. I think I’ll skip the audition. Nightmares of being teased in school make their way back to me when I think of it.
How about I come over to your place after work tonight and we can do both. Oh shut up, you’re not fifth. Demanding, that’s kind of hot. Do you think I’d let anyone tease you? I didn’t then, I wouldn’t now. Only I’m allowed to tease you mercilessly.
I’m thinking it might be time to upload another video to YouTube.
I only checked it because you put the idea into my head! There’s nowhere even close to enough time to prepare for an audition that major. It’s one thing to try and prepare for a musical when you don’t even know what it is. It’s a whole other thing to prepare to sing in front of judges who might say I’m not good enough to actually get to the round of auditions that they show on television.

Oh please, you’ve been preparing for an audition that big your whole life! Yes, well, seems our director is a bit of a procrastinator, and a dream killer too. But hey, Heathers is on his maybe list, right up your alley there. I think you’re just looking for an excuse, C, you know you’re good enough.
Auditions for the summer show at the community theater are scheduled for next Friday and Saturday.
As much as I would love to direct Hamilton in some capacity, I feel like I’d end up with a cast of incredibly white people who can’t rap, and it would be a giant disservice to Lin Manuel Miranda and the genius show that he’s created. My top three choices as of right now are Into the Woods, Heathers the Musical, and Bye Bye Birdie.

Huh, I don’t know, I’m pretty sure there are more than enough talented people of color in Key West--but I get it. Looks like this little white girl will never get to play Eliza Schuyler, dream killer. If you do choose Heathers, I’m pretty sure my sister will be the one in love with you.
You make it sounds like everyone has daddy issues. I guess I should give him a call then, if he doesn’t decide to just show up. I’m sure my lovely brother will take care of father’s day.
I make it sound that way because it’s true, in one way or another, we all do. Some are more in your face than others. And now it sounds like you have brother issues?
Would it be wrong of me to sit at a coffee shop and do nothing all day?
It would be completely totally and utterly wrong, want company?
I should know better than talk to my father on a Friday, since he always seems to be able to ruin my day and in the end my weekend too.
Oh hey, that sounds exactly like my dad. Which is why I avoid talking to him unless it’s a holiday. And this reminds me that Father’s Day is almost here, looks like next Sunday is already ruined.

I’m afraid so. My students basically want to kill me when I do this with the school shows, but I can’t seem to change my ways. On the plus side, I’ve narrowed it down from my original ten picks to three, so it might be announced sooner rather than later.

Is it just indecisiveness, or is there a bit of procrastination at play as well? Three? That would narrow it down some at least, if I knew what three you have in mind. If one of them is Hamilton I just may fall in love with you, just saying.
I’m thinking it might be time to upload another video to YouTube.
You realize he’s married and about to be a dad, right? As much as I would love to see dad’s head explode, it’s basically too late to audition for the Voice this year. Open auditions aren’t anywhere near us, and we’ve already missed the closest ones. New York auditions are a week from today, and then there are auditions in Minnesota in two weeks. Besides, if we’re going to do the musical, we can’t leave the state.

Yeah, yeah, I know that. I didn’t say I wanted to sleep with him. Not that I’d say no if the question was posed, but there would be no expectation. YOU CHECKED THE AUDITION SCHEDULE!! Minnesota isn’t that far away. You know, there will be other musicals, THE VOICE!!!
Whatever, Matthews. When are we doing that, by the way? I know you want to be in that musical that’s going to happen but you better make time for me.
Jeez, so testy, Sloane. When are we doing which thing, each other or MCU marathon? Have I ever not made time for you? You could always audition too, you have a pretty decent voice, you know.

Come and snag a mini box while we still have some. I have some bottomless pit type employees who have been eyeing the display all evening.

My best friend is a bottomless pit, so I am familiar with the type. Hopefully something will be left by the time I get there, if not I’ll just have to buy some cupcakes to satiate my sweet tooth.
