Am I the only one who loves the way Meliodas talks?
Like, how he says a word with two syllables thrice and stretching the first syllable of the last word.
More specifically, him saying "sate sate saaate", "hm hm hmmm/fumu fumu fuuumu" and on one occasion, "nani nani naaani".
And also how he said "nnn~iya" instead of just "iya" when King asked if he got his power back in the druid cave.
I don't know why, but I just find myself really loving the way he not only looks like a twelve year old, but also talks like one. Like, you could actually mistake him for someone who is 12 and not 3,000+ if he never used his demon mark or got serious in front of you and I love it.
Also, notice how he never talks like this when he uses his demon mark/assault mode. This implies that he didn't act like this when he was still with the demon clan.
Instead of getting more mature as he grew older he became more immature. God damnit, I love this guy. This is why he's best boy.
...and then you watch the dub and realise they didn't include this (or at least not translating sate sate sate as well, well, well). What the fuck, Netflix.
Omg thank GOD someone else noticed it, I thought my obsession was going too far xD Which it still is but that is not the point here
Something to point out is that not only his language became more “childish” to call it somehow though repetition, but is that is made on purpose.
Can I go off for a little here? Is time to use what little I learned of the language career in something important! Language changes and evolve over time, that is obvious, we learn new ways of expressing ourselves and letting our message across, we also gain new gestures and expressions depending of the phrases we say, catchphrases, the way we slurs the words, how some people get talk quicker under certain circumstances (Anger or Fear mostly) and all that kind of stuff we develop over time, the way we talk and express is part of our subconscious, is REALLY hard to change our way of expression because.....well that is how the brain works, if you had for years moved your hand when you speak do you think you will stop once you realized it? Is like breathing, when you notice you are doing it you do it “manually” to call it somehow, but most of the time is automatic.
With that say......Meliodas speaks like a child because he wants to. You see, there are various “type” of japanese to call it somehow, Formal and Informal, until there all ok, like any language, BUT there also exists....what my friend call “Vulgar Japanese” and “Superformal Japanese”, the two sides of the same coin.
“Superformal Japanese” is pretty much oldish japanese, err....picture the english that the XV century used, is pretty much that. Some of the Holy War Era characters(Like Zeldris for example, why do you think he doesn’t say “Aniki” but it’s even more formal counterpart that I don’t know to write so I won’t bother) Or our Elizabeth, since she is princess, uses it. (However I am no sure if is formal or superformal what she uses....eh, pretty sure is not informal) As you might guess, Ten Commandment/Assault Mode!Meliodas talks like this.
Now “Vulgar Japenese”......is pretty much how most shonen/shojo/kodomo characters talk xD (unlike they have a rich background or something) is pretty much speaking half and half, big ass sentences reduced to two words at most, is just easier.......and mostly how kids or young teens talk.
Or in this case, how a little bastard that don’t want anything to do with his royal background talk. Oh yeah, remember all that I said above about how our language evolve over time until is marked into our subconscious? Well screw it cause Meliodas talks like that on purpose, he can use his big words when he wants to, as show when he gets serious or downright demonic.....just like his tone gets more high pitched when he is his normal......er.....cheerful? self so does the vocabulary, TC!Mel is all “I will make you disappear of this world you lowly, inferior being” like being too good for this world while regular Mel is all “Yo whatssup, want to vibe? my place at 2am? k” But is not because his language had deformed over time but because the second one is waaaaay more welcoming that the first one, the first one can be seen.....kind of cold and distant.
Also the fact that he repeats and slurs stuff to look more friendly and cute so much that his old friends still remember it after all this time is so blessed and cute aghaghag
In order words.....he talks like royalty to look menacing, he talks like a child to look friendly and fun to hang up, like there is not in between, he is either a regal killer machine or your little nephew asking if your phone has games, he is great.
With all that said.....
Nobody:
Not soul:
Nobody really:
Meliodas:
“How is it that we meet each other so often… that we always are together in good and in bad times… and yet you don’t look at me… you just see a small fragment of my whole being… of my good side… always… but this is not me I just want you to look at me… seeing everything just like you did the first time… Elizabeth tell me how is it… that I can’t break this curse… will the day ever come where we are not the Son of the Demon King and the Daughter of the Supreme Deity… I wonder will the day ever come where we are just Elizabeth and Meliodas…… ”
——————————— Ohh :’( I really got emotional while writing Meliodas thoughts realising that the series will end in summer next year.

The long awaited Adrien Agreste Redesign AND WITH MY MANY MANY THOUGHTS
I had been scratching at the walls of my internet corner some time ago when I stumbled upon the gold mine that is Adrien concept art with a cane. Then boom ideas, so many delicious ideas.
I provided him with an arc, and a better understanding of his motives since he's always seem so forgotten despite literally having one of the two most powerful Kwami that's supposed to compliment each other.
Anyways, in civilian form Adrien uses his cane for a chronic disability he got in the same accident he 'lost' his mother to. It results in his father working tirelessly to provide Adrien with everything he wants while being extremely over protective and yet nearly a ghost in physical presence- due to his father not wanting to be reminded of the damage he's trying to fix by getting that Wish. The result? Adrien just wanting his father to look at him. Until then Adrien remains feeling inadequate and needing to prove he's enough while internalizing every little thing he can't do better. Despite maintaining a huge amount of success in both his relationships, hobbies, and his fame as a model. (one that's widely looked up to)
Then comes a Kwami that snuck out (just like in the movie) and gets attached to this teen he sees himself in. Cut to Plagg using his abilities to take a physical form as a cat. Offering Adrien comfort as a companion in a lonely mansion when not transformed, and the perfect freedom Adrien had missed when he is. As Chat Noir, Adrien is limitless, his cane becoming his staff, his pain magicked away for a temporary time, it's freeing. It's intoxicating. It becomes a painfully obsessive addiction at Adrien's worse to want to be Chat Noir at all times before finally he realizes he is enough with the helpful push of his partner Ladybug. Who she herself has trouble giving too much, but for a different reason.
Thus Adrien's arc is completed and his sense of self is cemented in self-assurance before taking on the big bad. Ta da!
Did I use my dark desire to sometimes sleep the day away because I dream in sight that I've long since lost to reflect how Adrien wants to be Chat Noir all the time despite it being a temporary high? Yes, yes I did. :)
I feel like we don’t talk enough about how Adrien is just like… canonically suicidal. Like that isn’t an interpretation of the show or an angle you can look at from that is just like. A plainly canon fact about this character in this show for 10 year olds. The deuteragonist of the French magical girl bug anime is just passively suicidal.
[ID: A digital painting of the character Adrien Agreste from the cartoon Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Chat Noir. Adrien is sitting with a peafowl perched on his shoulder. The peafowl's neck and head obscures Adrien's eyes, and it looks at the camera in Adrien's stead. Adrien has a soft smile, and he's gently cradling the tail feathers that fall into his lap. End ID]

I remember a while back you talked about how Ladybug views Chat Noir as a constant in her life. Like a fairy tale, someone that whose emotions are just playfulness, joy, and bravery. Also, that Marinette never really thinks about him beyond the mask. Can you delve deeper into that? I feel like the point you made a while ago is extremely relevant to the relationship between LB and CN after Wishmaker
I'm pretty sure the Fae Cat Noir Interpretation is my fandom footprint at this point. I do talk about it pretty often, after all. Mostly I talk about it as a part of other posts, so I'll try to compile the main points here into a single cohesive whole.
When Marinette becomes Ladybug, that role of Ladybug is tied to two of the new friends she gained that day: Tikki and Cat Noir. Tikki, in the first season, is the closest thing Marinette has to a guide and mentor. Tikki tells her how her powers work, supports her in her decisions (usually) and gives her advice in tough situations (to the best of her ability).
Tikki is also literally a fae creature. She's out of touch with human life and is sometimes confused by things, but she also isn't someone Marinette has to take care of simply because she doesn't seem to have any personal worries like a human would. Tikki is always optimistic, seeing different situations as possibilities to Create something new. When Tikki falls ill in 'Princess Fragrance', Marinette panics, because usually Tikki doesn't need Marinette to take care of her. Tikki is also bound to keep Marinette's secret, she literally can't tell it, so Marinette can trust her completely.
Now let's compare Tikki to Cat Noir. Cat Noir is Ladybug's partner. He helps her navigate the duty of a superhero when they're both new to it, supports her in her decisions and gives her advice when he feels like she needs it. In addition to this, Cat Noir offers comfort and jokes to break tense situations. Cat Noir is also the one who calls Marinette out when she's letting her personal feelings affect her judgement and he tries to keep her grounded and focused on the task at hand when she’s in a negative spiral. Cat Noir is also very careful to put up the appearance of not needing to be taken care of. When one of the heroes needs support, the other one will provide it but, when these occasions occur, it's always Cat Noir supporting Ladybug.
A lot of Adrien not showing his need for support is influenced by the secret identity rule, because a lot of the stuff that gets to him is caused by his relationship to his father, a topic he isn't allowed to bring up with Ladybug. However, the reason Adrien is so good at hiding his need for support is his father. His father considers him emotional and dramatic, and punishes him severely for being so. He's been trained to believe that he isn't allowed to be emotionally needy, so he hides his needs. As Cat Noir, he also uses humour to deflect, since being the jokester has become something others expect from him and therefore functions to “prove” that he’s just up to his usual funny business.
Even when Cat Noir can't hold everything back and does show his upset, like in 'Glaciator' or 'Frozer', it only appears as a momentary "glitch" to Marinette, since Adrien deals with his emotions by himself. In 'Glaciator', the conversation takes place after he's calmed himself down, while in 'Frozer', there was no need for a conversation at all. Any upset Cat Noir has seems to last for mere moments and goes away by itself without Marinette needing to offer emotional support, making those moments seem unimportant when looking at them from the outside. Instead, to Marinette, it feels like Cat Noir is always brave, confident and joyful.
Whenever there is a crack in Cat Noir's facade, Marinette is quick to notice. She asks him straight out if he's fine, and every time Cat Noir answers that he is just fine. Being disappointed or hurt emotionally is normal for Adrien, so he most likely is his own definition of "fine". And Marinette takes him at his word and drops the topic. This is because Ladybug’s and Cat Noir’s trust in each other is absolute. When Cat Noir tells her he's fine, Ladybug believes him, without question. The salt side of the fandom loves to call Cat Noir unreliable, but the truth of the matter is that he has been so reliable so consistently that Marinette sometimes forgets he's only human and can have weaknesses or be compromised.
Whenever Marinette has seen her partner go down, it has been physically, because of an Akuma attack. As such, the main threat Marinette perceives to her partner are villains. Cat Blanc was a nightmarish timeline that must be avoided at all costs, and Marinette is 100% convinced that what caused it was her identity being leaked, not some emotional threat to her partner. Therefore Marinette can't perceive a threat to her partner in addition to not knowing when he’s in emotional peril.
So, let's take it from the top. As far as Marinette knows, her ally is a being with magical powers, who helps her fight crime and doesn't need her to take care of them. They seem to be untroubled by things like insecurity like she is and she can absolutely trust them. That describes both Tikki and Cat Noir. The impression Marinette has of Cat Noir is very similar to the one she has of her literal fae partner.
well this concerns me
