You have to outlive Trump but you also have to outlive whoever the Republican Party replaces him with, whether that be Vance or some other figurehead
We’re making it to 2028
Sketching/drawing is where I find most of my joy in the art process so I drew my favorite fellas at, likely, their most casual.
I really, really like the challenge of applying realistic musculature and mass to otherwise very cartoony figures, so these were both relaxing and very to work on.
Seems I'll be mostly sharing old content, hehe. This is something I made based on a theory I found online about Disney's Snow White, saying that at the end the princess dies and the Prince is Death taking her to the afterlife. From that I just had fun picturing the idea that a Disney princess literally married Death and, as a consequence, she becomes Queen of Death. (Or Death becomes a Disney prince, haha)
I love this fucking movie, man
People are saying what happened in New York can’t be replicated. I’m in Texas and two of my six city council members are socialists (about to be 4 next election. God willing, but because the current socialist members won their races so handedly I’m not too worried) and in two years I can almost guarantee there will be a leftist in the mayoral position.
Get involved in local politics I BEG of you. Mamdani is not some unicorn. He is proof that we can make socialism a possibility in America if we work from the ground up.
The sad thing is that this should be a satire thing but it really isn't.
The democratic party leadership isn't actually filled with 5th column conservatives. But what it is filled with is people who have been patholigically conditioned to find compromise at every step.
They've been convinced, since JFK got his dome popped, that the only way to do business is to court the right because the Left has no choice but them, and because young leftists just won't turn out to vote.
That's obviously not the case, or if it was, it was because they screwed the pooch every time.
So they can't really conceive that energizing your voting base by offering actual policy changes and pushing for things that aren't compromises with a group of extremeists who make up barely an 8th of the nation but have gerrymandered their way into power is the answer.
Edit: Wow a lot of people are reblogging this, but I think I do a better job of explaining all of this in a follow up post!

MAMDANI WON THE FUCKING NY MAYOR PRIMARY
THATS RIGHT
AN OPENLY SOCIALIST
OPENLY PRO-PALESTINE
OPENLY PRO-TRANS
MUSLIM SON OF IMMIGRANTS
JUST KICKED THE ASS OF AN ESTABLISHED DEMOCRAT ENDORSED BY BILL FUCKING CLINTON WHO HAD 35 MILLION DOLLARS BACKING HIM
MAMDANI HAD LESS THAN TEN MIL, MOSTLY FROM INDIVIDUAL DONATIONS
BETTER THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. GET INVOLVED AND PRIMARY THE FUCK OUT OF ALL THESE MUSTY OLD DEMS
Many people in the news media who were shocked by Zohran Mamdani's win in the NYC mayoral primary are the same ones ignoring the mechanics of his victory.
The panel on the MSNBC vid above pretty much gets it right. My views on it are not terribly different.
Mamdani was able to energize younger voters at a time youth turnout had been falling.
The Mamdani campaign had a great ground game. Volunteers talked to voters in person in the neighborhoods.
Mamdani made himself easily available to journalists and community groups.
The issue most central to the Mamdani campaign was affordability – something almost all voters can relate to.
Self-serving scare tactics by the wealthy establishment were dismissed by voters who warmed to Mamdani's more positive messaging.
In short, Mamdani largely ran a notably traditional old school campaign with the help of some contemporary technology.
Interacting personally with voters is the easiest way to bypass broligarch social media and cable. People on our side who endlessly wail about pro-Trump media and social media making it impossible for us to win forget that precinct work was the very open secret for the success of 20th century political machines. A "machine" is simply an in-person network.
Finding out what is on voters' minds rather than preaching to them is how you win their votes.
Duplicating the methods of the successful Mamdani campaign and applying them to campaigns across the US should be a high national priority for Democrats.

A huge win for NYC! A better world is still possible
