We’ve all heard the saying, “One must not judge a book by it’s cover,” but when it comes to YA books, it’s simply impossible not to get caught by pretty covers.
So, here are a bunch of YA books published or will soon be published this 2016 that I’m on the lookout for because I, personally, believe that they have the most beautiful covers.
Hemingway and the Sea Book Cover by Kajsa Klaesén
“Collectors box and covers for three novels by Ernest Hemingway. The box includes the titles “To Have and Have Not”, “The Old Man and the Sea” and “Islands in the Stream”. They’re gathered in this collection because the sea plays an important part in all of them. I’ve used subtle wave shapes to communicate this. The bigger part the sea plays in the book, the bigger the waves get. The inspiration for the color scheme came from 1930’s travel posters.”
Kajsa Klaesén is a graphic design student currently based in Gothenburg, Sweden. She is focused on packaging, graphic design, typography and illustration.
Okay so here’s the lowdown. I found 4 sets of medium format negatives while I was thrift shop hunting a few weeks ago. They were sitting in a box of old vintage photographs in these plastic sleeves, and from what I could tell, they had been taken sometime in the 50’s. So obviously I brought them home, and today finally had them scanned in, and holy wow they are beautiful!!
NOW this is where I need the Internet’s help. I would absolutely love to find the women in these photographs/the photographer who took them. The only info I have is that the negatives were found in a thrift store on Hull St in Richmond, VA. They are medium format, and judging by the style of dress, made in 1940-1950. The owner of the thrift store had no idea where they came from. I’m posting the best/clearest scans of the images, so if y'all could reblog the shit out of this, I’m hoping we can find the owners of these amazing images.
sorry this is so gay and I can-
You were the sun, and I was crashing into you. I’d wake up every morning and think, This will end in flames.

I made a poem inspired by Carry On and Snowbaz. Actually super proud of it.
