“Well, haven’t seen you in a cop uniform and haven’t seen you with my… friends…” Siobhan eyed zem suspiciously. “So excuse me for keeping my guard up, pal.”
“Well, I do like to keep my connections private to newcomers.”
“So, does knowing where I stand, or rather don’t stand, change your mind?”

Siobhan curled her hand into a fist. “I don’t fuck with Brigid Boys, no matter how hot they are,” she said to the person who had been a bit too chatty with her at Erin Go Bragh.
Ze nearly laughed at the accusation, “Not everyone in the town is under the Sullivans, you know that, right?”
“I’ve worked hard to keep working on my own terms, I’d rather not be mistaken for another lackey of a pair of teenagers.” ze commented before taking another sip of zer drink.

Jamie stood next to the bench, debating whether she should sit or not to do this. She decided on standing.
She let out a genuine laugh at zer remark, smiling a bit. “Never thought I’d actually use this thing,” she admitted, before taking a deep breath. Okay, she could do this. She removed the safety cap, then positioned the epipen against zer outer thigh. With a quick motion, she pushed it in, letting it rest there, before pulling it out. She removed the needle from zer’s thigh, replacing it back inside to dump later. “Okay, all done. But I think if the reaction does get severe, you gotta see a doctor.”
Ze bit zer lip. The pain wasn’t awful, but it still hurt. “Well, I guess it pays to be prepared, doesn’t it,” ze muttered through grit teeth. Once the epipen was out ze put a hand over the puncture. “Guess your good deed for the day’s been done, huh?”
kaoru-takagi:
“Yeah, I uh… yeah, I did. I dunno how far it got me, but I’m at least sober I guess. Are you uh… still working?” he hoped that wasn’t the wrong thing to ask.
“Yeah. Still on my own terms too,” ze nodded. There were some times ze wondered if things would be easier if ze just joined up with the Brigid Boys, but with Billy dead and the police cracking down on them again the cons seemed to outweigh the pros.
“Hasn’t really been easy, what with the cops all kicking back into gear after Sullivan got shot down and all, but I’m still standing.”
blake-callaway:
Blake shrugged. “I can handle myself, don’t worry,” they replied. “I have seen my fair share. But someone’s gotta get the answers, if the people who are supposed to as a job won’t.”
“Mm, a little detective, are ya?” ze quirked an eyebrow and looked down at them.
blake-callaway:
Blake appeared pleased at how easily ze gave them zer last name. They jotted it down next to zer first name. “Thank you very much.”
“I just like to know who people are. Can’t a kid be curious?”
“Uh huh, right,” ze looked over at her notepad, “It’s dangerous to be curious around here, especially around the wrong people.”
kaoru-takagi:
“It’s Kaoru… We uh… worked together. Briefly. Several years ago. I probably looked a lot different back then.”
“Oh-oh you’re that kid,” ze looked him over, “Always wondered where you went.” That was a complete lie, but it was better than admitting ze’d hardly blinked when the kid disappeared. “You got clean I take it? I mean, you sure look better than you did.”
jamesonjamieburke:
“I’m actually gonna need your outer thigh. This’ll go through clothing, though. Um, do you wanna sit or I can do this while you stand?”
“Oh uh, right, sure,” ze took a seat at the nearby bench.
“Never thought a willingly let someone stab me with a needle,” ze laughed.
kaoru-takagi:
“I don’t feel like you would’ve said that to me years ago… but you probably don’t remember me, do you?”
Ze tilted zer head, “I usually pride myself on never forgetting a face, but it would seem you slipped my mind. Maybe a name would jog my memory?”
kaoru-takagi:
“Well, that’s part of why they’re spraying for them. I don’t think they’ve gone anywhere else. They’ve just been in my place since I moved in, since it was empty for so long.”
“Of course, uh, if for some reason it does happen, you can always crash at my apartment. They won’t be in mine anymore, after all. I’m just grateful the landlord is giving me a break on my rent this month because of them. It means I actually have some money to spend since my dad doesn’t know and handed the rent money over to me earlier in the week.”
“Well shit, lucky break I guess. Always nice to actually be able to afford shit other than rent.”
“If you’re really hurting for a place to crash my couch is there. I’m usually out late so as long as you don’t mind possibly hearing me at ungodly hours you can sleep there.”
blake-callaway:
“Glad I get to be around for that, then. I hope it’ll help give me a good impression,” they joked.
“Nice to meet you,” they murmured as they pulled out their notebook, writing something down. “Yeah, a bus pass.” They held the pad with one hand as they tugged it out, handing it over. “What’s your last name, by the way?”
“Benson,” ze answered without thinking, pressing the card against where the bee had stung zer.
“Odd question for a kid to ask, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it’ll only hurt for like a second, too, I swear.”
“Okay, I mean, might as well. You need my arm? Or, I saw something about doing it in the leg too.”
kaoru-takagi:
No, I just… have rodents in my apartment…
“Yikes, been there.”
“Hold on, your apartment is pretty close to mine, right? Shit I hope they don’t get into mine.”
kaoru-takagi:
Does anyone have a couch I can crash on for tonight?
“Did you miss rent or somethin’?”
“That can be a sign…Even if it is normal for you usually. Aha! Found it. I’m pretty sure it doesn’t hurt you if you’re not having one.”
“Right, okay. It’s like a shot yeah?”

“I can relate to having bad luck.” Blake gave zer a thumbs up. “Hey, some good luck, then. I’m Blake, by the way.”
“I guess so,” ze agreed, “first bit of good luck I’ve had in some time.”
“Petra. Um, do you have a card or something on you? I’d really like to get this thing out”
