Reblogs in a chain now get their own notes

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!

Oh, look, it’s me again! It’s been... yeah, let’s not go there.

Not sure I’m committing to posting again, but, this is me, giving this a try. We’ll see how it goes!

Just got to thinking about how the Jedi handle apprenticeships and raising children through times of crisis, like post-Coruscant sacking and Tython attack, and after such a shitty 5 years in the SWTOR time-skip (it’s never a good time for Jedi in this game, huh?)

Like any wartime generation there’s going to be a whole chunk of middle-aged Jedi who are gone. Maybe they fell in battle, maybe they succumbed to the Dark Side, but that prime frontline generation who are the candidates best suited to training Padawans is pretty much decimated. 

So how many too-young Jedi Knights feel duty-bound to take on a Padawan, how many too-old Masters rise to the task of training these young teenagers? There’s so much less space for formality and protocol when the Order is under constant threat of extinction, and it still takes a long time to train a Padawan until they’re really ready for their Jedi life ahead. How many younglings are just not getting taken on by Masters, group-trained, to say nothing of the kids out there the Jedi could still help if only they had the manpower to do it. 

On the positive side, I really like the wild variety of dynamics this could lead to between Mentor & Apprentice. Closer in age? Ready for your sibling dynamic a la Obi-wan and Anakin? Further apart in age? Parental figures, GRANDparental figures. Padawans similar in age helping each other across the finish line.

Anyway I’m just sighing wistfully thinking about how a Jedi Order in crisis can be a lot more like an Unconventional Family than they want to admit.

Something we played around with in my little corner of RP. I have a char who was a late initiate / early Padawan when Zakuul happened. She wanted to be a healer, but there's suddenly no Jedi healers around to train her (and barely any Jedi at all that she can reach), so... She goes to medical school instead.

Cue a 30-year-old surgeon trying to decide if she wants to have another go at this whole Padawan thing, now that the Order is slowly piecing itself back together.

Another set of Jedi Tarots. 

Derrus is The Magician, a researcher who has made it his life’s work to study the dark side from the Jedi perspective.

Temperance is Alen, the old master, seeks the balance in all things, internal and external.

Emoral, the Jedi Shadow, hunts sith and dark-siders, dispensing Justice.

Velera, an ex-sith turned to the Jedi, is Death, the herald of change, endings and new beginnings.

I’ve had the idea, since a little while back, of a swtor-themed Tarot deck. Quarantine means I have more time to follow stray ideas. So far, there is Théano as the Hermit, her Padawan Neez (@lekkulicious) as the Fool, and two other characters I borrowed from their respective players as the Hanged Man and the Emperor.

There are plans for the rest of the Major Arcana. I hope I get around to them all!
