I just learned that my medication is out of stock COUNTRYWIDE because America is restricting how much ADHD medication Australia is allowed to make... and they're just flat out ignoring Australia's request to meet to negotiate more.
America's Federal Trade Commission is taking public comments on this exact situation right now.
If you've been affected by the actions of US-based regulation in regards to accessing your ADHD medication, please submit a comment! Even if you're outside of the United States. The fact this has such far-reaching consequences is something that needs to be known!
You have until April 15th, 2024 to submit a comment. Please make your voice heard!

hey, i'm dorian, and i'm from an abusive household.
i'm disabled both mentally and physically, so i can't live alone for long periods of time as i can't properly take care of myself. however, today my grandmother, who i live with, attacked me. her attack was, and has been, rooted in transphobia and ableism. normally it's just verbal. but today, she deliberately slammed a door in my face so hard that it hit my nose, which bled a lot, and lodged one of my teeth into my upper lip. after getting away to hide in my room, she came in and pointed a knife at me.
this is fueled by both transphobia and her dislike of me, and her own mental health episodes. when she deteriorates, she takes it out on me, and this is the outcome this time.
so, all i'm asking for is some money to allow me to get to a cheap hotel nearby for a week, while my grandfather oversees her getting back on her medication and calming down. the money i ask for is for the week at the hotel and the ability to have just one meal a day.
above is a link to my ko-fi. please consider helping me out. thank you.
When it was peaceful and no ghosts were around, the park was a nice place to spend sometime together, more so on a partially cloudy day where one could lay under the shade of the nearby trees.
This was one of the favored places Danny liked to spend time with Valerie, enjoying just a simple moment together as they were rare and typically interrupted, but for just this moment it was bliss, more so after the telling of a pun that got the two laughing.
Everything was good.
Surprise, thought I was done with @valentines-core-exchange stuff? You thought wrong, I come at you with another piece this time for @the-argumentative-viper with some classing Grey Ghost.
I wanted to just do a little slice of life with these two, a glimpse into a peaceful moment. One thing I wanted to include was a hint of early 2000s fashion and some body positivity while also playing with some effects.
Danny trudged, feet dragging, around the third last corner before his house. His breath felt like it was being dragged in and out by force. He was, to be honest, exhausted. It had been a long, boring, mildly awful day to end the school term. He'd bought a burger trying to cheer himself up, but it was a weird texture and honestly, maybe the honey had been a mistake.
Danny turned to make a joke about his choices then remembered he was alone. A consequence, of course, of his snapping at everyone in an exhausted funk throughout the day. Kicking a rock, he ended up hopping around after realising that it was larger and heavier than it had looked. Great, now he had to worry about a stubbed toe on top of everything else. Still on one leg, Danny startled at a sudden loud bang at the other end of the street.
I say this with as much respect as this narrative deserves but you cannot seriously fucking believe that Israel, a country on the other side of the world run by its own autonomous government, is scheduling its horrific assaults on the Palestinian people. . . . . . around the Super Bowl.
Seriously. Are you all fucking kidding me. Like legitimately how self-centered and americentric do you have to be to assume that 1) literally any other country in the world gives a single fuck about the Super Bowl 2) any other GOVERNMENT in the world gives a single fuck about the Super Bowl and 3) literally everything another country does is centered around America and our bullshit fake "holidays." Like I really thought we were done with this after the Black Friday conspiracies.
You can talk about the horrific things happening in other countries without acting like the whole world is operating on the US's schedule while also pushing just outright conspiracy theories. Unbelievable.
To add, I get the underlying heuristic and logic: the bombing of Rafah coincides with the superbowl, the US is a country providing notable military support (arguably the largest supporter, but still one of several, not the lone supporter), the US is known for using popular media to reinforce its militaristic narrative, thus...
But I am begging y'all to realize that this is a subtle nod to "the evil jews control everything" conspiracy belief. The more probable factor is the increasing pressure within Israel from citizens there against Netanyahu and the Likud party. People are (rightfully) pissed that the retrieving of hostages has been referenced as little more than a rhetorical point for Netanyahu to use as leverage. Not to mention increased pressure from a growing anti-war segment within Israel and cross-coalitional organizing by groups like Standing Together.
Further, the effect of big, media heavy events on attention to and momentum of social movements in the US ALWAYS does this. Sometimes, that can be used to the counter group's advantage, BUT more often than not, it's a happy coincidence that the American public is easily (and often willfully) distracted. You (we) might want to knock it off with the "conniving Jews pulling shadowy strings" antisemitic bullshit and instead critique how the US public is readily distracted.
Also, I am begging y'all to read something like "People Love Dead Jews" to actually start to understand the ways that rhetorical devices central to antisemitism are embedded in A LOT of common themes not only in conspiracy theories, but in the framing used in everything from media narratives to discussions of policy in the U.S.
Netanyahu and his party have an unimaginable amount of blood on their hands.
I am horrified by their actions (as are many other Jews in the U.S. and worldwide).
I am also disgusted by how quickly so many supposed leftists capitulated to not just laughably ignorant black-white thinking and oversimplifications of how any of this gets resolved, but with the rabid intensity with which so many of you swallowed and began regurgitating straight up antisemitic talking points. Including ignoring the racialized component of Jewish identity that has always been at play in (at least) North America and Western Europe, while ignoring the reality of BIPOC Jews in order to undercut Jewish indigeneity (not just in the Levant but SWANA and elsewhere).
You, fellow folks living in the US, aren't going to solve shit by navel gazing conspiracy laden bullshit. Do better.
RECALL POST! huge listeria outbreak in the US & canada that has been ongoing for YEARS, with dozens of foods recalled!
posted february 10, 2024
fucking hell. what the fuck. CLICK THE LINKS FOR MORE INFORMATION, INCLUDING SPECIFIC PRODUCTS. there will be more updates. this recall is ongoing and more products are being recalled by the day.
"The FDA and CDC, in collaboration with state and local partners, are investigating illnesses in a multi-year, multistate outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to queso fresco and cotija cheeses manufactured by Rizo Lopez Foods, Inc., of Modesto, California.
This outbreak includes cases dating back to 2014 and is currently ongoing."
DATING BACK TO -> 2014 <-
Do not eat, sell, or serve any recalled products. Additional recalls have been added. FDA’s investigation is ongoing.
listeriosis, the infection caused by listeria, can become very serious, and can cause death, miscarriage, and lifelong disability. most infections are not severe. listeria typically makes you sick within 2 weeks of exposure, but it can take as long as 3 months after being exposed to get sick. listeria is the third leading cause of foodborne illness deaths in the united states, and there have been confirmed deaths from this outbreak.
rizo-lopez foods supplies dairy ingredients to dozens of different brands making dozens of different types of foods across the entire country.
...and other products containing dairy ingredients sourced from rizo-lopez foods, from brand names such as
Bright Farms, Campesino, Casa Cardenas, Dole, Don Francisco, Don Pancho, Dos Ranchitos, El Huache, Food City, Fresh Express, H-E-B, La Ordena, Marketside, President’s Choice, Ready Pac Bistro, Rio Grande, Rizo Bros, Rojos, San Carlos, Santa Maria, Tio Francisco, Trader Joe’s, 365 Whole Foods Market.
and freshly made food from various stores. for a good chunk of these products, all prior expiration dates are being recalled. many of these foods have been potentially contaminated for years.
directions from the CDC:
Do not eat any recalled products.
Throw them away or return them to where you bought them.
Clean the refrigerator, containers, and surfaces that may have touched the recalled products.
Listeria can survive in the refrigerator and can easily spread to other foods and surfaces.
Call a healthcare provider right away if you have these symptoms after eating recalled products:
Pregnant people usually have fever, muscle aches, and tiredness.
People who are not pregnant usually have fever, muscle aches, and tiredness. They may also get a headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or seizures.
"Listeria is especially harmful to people who are pregnant, aged 65 or older, or have weakened immune systems. This is because Listeria is more likely to spread beyond their gut to other parts of their body, resulting in a severe condition known as invasive listeriosis."
Do not eat recalled cheeses, crema, and yogurt.
you can check the ongoing list of recalled products as well as more information about the outbreak in the US through the FDA link or the CDC link.
for canada: the canadian recalls link to the US FDA + CDC investigation for more detailed information, but you can keep track of rizo-lopez recalls in canada here.
check your fridge, check your freezer, check your emails and voicemails for recall notifications, check in on others, clean contaminated surfaces thoroughly, and stay safe. do NOT fuck with listeria!
So for anyone who doesn’t keep up with nz politics, which i’m assuming is most of you, our new radical right government have decided one of their main aims of their term will be to re-interpret the Treaty of Waitangi.
The Treaty is an agreement between Maori and the Crown, now the NZ government. It is the founding document of new zealand and is recognised as a constitutional document today; it is the only treaty of its kind/time still honoured, and it is the steps we’ve taken through the Treaty to provide restitution and build an ongoing relationship with Maori and their iwi (tribes) that has allowed the relationship between Maori and the government to thrive where other indigenous groups have struggled to achieve recognition of their rights.
This is going to be entirely undone. Not only is this issue inflammatory and a threat to race relations in Aotearoa, leaked documents show the proposed “reinterpretation” wants to negate pretty much the entirety of the legal rights provided to Maori under the treaty. For example, the treaty article that guarantees land rights for Maori will be reinterpreted to guarantee land rights for “all New Zealanders”. Which means this article would be essentially meaningless for Maori.
By removing Maori from the context they are trying to put Maori on an “equal footing” with all New Zealanders; they are riding the idea that Maori have special rights and privileges above that of the average New Zealander. Obviously this is bullshit but it’s effective rhetoric and there’s a grain of truth to in that the extent of Maori rights hadn’t been clearly defined due to the ongoing nature of the process. So this has got a lot of people with a poor grasp of the issues very upset and baying for change.
There is a hui (meeting) being held today for all the iwi to begin discussions of how Maori will respond to this. New Zealand politics isn’t very interesting usually, but our progress on indigenous rights, until now, has been absolutely ahead of the field. If you care about indigenous rights globally, you should care about this, because in the same way Australia’s referendum loss has spurred on this action, the loss of rights here will spur other right wing governments to be similarly bold to their own indigenous groups.
Indigenous rights in New Zealand are under attack. They are meeting today to discuss it, and New Zealand will be listening, but I want the world to be listening. Because our government needs the shame of being called out by more than just the people who they’ve already decided don’t vote for them.
Maori have a long and proud history of fighting for their rights, and they’ll do it again here. And I’ll be on the pickets beside them, but there’ll be plenty of my own pickets to attend, because this government is radical in every sense of the word.
So please, even if you’re very far away, stand behind them in this. Keep your eyes on us. Amplify their voices. Don’t let the racism drown them out.
In December 2023 they laid off a huge percentage of their translation teams, replacing them with ai and having the remaining members review the ai translations to make sure the translations are “acceptable” (Note how they use the world acceptable and not accurate)
[image description: tweet saying "please know the difference between the flag of sudan and the flag of palestine" with images attached of both flags shown vertically.
sudan: from top to bottom (left to right if flag were horizontal), the flag has a green triangle pointing down, then three equal-width bands that are black, white, and red in that order from left to right
palestine: from top to bottom (left to right if flag were horizontal), the flag has a red triangle pointing down, then three equal-width bands that are green, white, and black in that order from left to right
the original tweet is quote tweeted by another that reads, "after you know the difference pray for both of them." both tweets have the name of the person posted them blacked out.]
[Bisan is speaking to the camera, and onscreen text reads, “Bisan Owda @wizard_bisan1” and “Voices from Gaza.”]
Bisan: Hey everyone, this is Bisan from Gaza. We’re still alive. Today we’re going to the UNRWA schools to see how the shelters are. And how are the people inside the shelters? What are they suffering from? How are they living?
[video cuts Abdallah, 8 years old, who is holding a drawing]
Bisan: What’s your name?
Young boy: Abdallah.
Bisan: Abdallah, did you draw this?
Abdallah: Yes.
Bisan: What did you draw?
Abdallah: A rocket. And a home that was struck by a rocket. A window that shattered. A bomb and a rocket. Two more bombs and a rocket here and here. A window curtain and a rocket.
Bisan: What did you write on top here?
Abdallah: Remnants of war.
Bisan: Remnants of war. Did you see any of these things?
[he nods]
Bisan: Where did you see them?
Abdallah: This is when they struck Khuza’a.
Bisan: What happened?
[he gestures by holding his arm up and quickly bringing it down]
Bisan: What?
Abdallah: It’s on the floor.
Bisan: It’s on the floor. It was flattened?
[he nods]
[video cuts to Iman, 13 years old]
Iman: For a small child to understand all this, this only happens in the Gaza Strip. All the kids, you notice that they all know what a rocket is, what bombardment means, what destruction means. If you go ask foreign kids abroad, ask them what this means, they won’t know because they’ve never experienced this. But we, Palestine’s children, anything of that sort — destruction, shelling, killing, martyrdom — we understand all this.
[video cuts to interior of one of the shelters with text onscreen reading, “These scenes were filmed during the temporary 7-day truce.”]
Bisan: Now we’re going to the classes where the people try to find a place to sleep. The classes are normally for thirty to forty students, sitting students. Now, between eighty to one hundred people are sleeping and living in each class. So let’s see how the classes are from in the inside.
[video cuts to a baby who smiles at Bisan as she talks]
Bisan: So this is Misk. The youngest member in this class.
[she holds her hand]
Bisan: Misk is now almost two months old. And the surprising thing is that she was born in the war and she’s old now. She’s playing. She’s understanding the surrounding environment. She’s understanding the people. She’s hearing, and she’s old. [speaking to Misk in Arabic] Right? What’s your name? Masookay [nickname].
[video pans over room several children, many personal belongings, blankets, and clotheslines, before cutting to Seba, who is nine months pregnant]
Bisan: What month of pregnancy are you in?
Seba: I’m in my ninth month. I’m a mother of two children. There’s nothing — we’re sick of this situation.
[video pans over boxes, trash bags, and massive stacks of blankets as she continues talking]
Seba: We’d rather stay in our destroyed homes. We’ve had enough — the sense of despair here is widespread. Enough with oppressing us.
[over another shot of large stacks of trash bags and miscellany, onscreen text reads, “The UN says there have been outbreaks of hepatitis and other diseases at schools.”]
Seba: When a pregnant woman enters the toilet, the smell makes her stomach turn. And you know how pregnancy is — anything makes you nauseous when you’re pregnant.
[onscreen text reads, “As many as one hundred and sixty people sheltering in UNRWA schools share a single toilet.”]
Bisan: How’s the bathroom situation for kids?
Seba: The situation is awful for children. The kids, I don’t know what to say. Every time I take a kid to the bathroom, he either gets diarrhea or he gets sick and we rush him to Nasser Hospital. There are no napkins, scented wipes, soap. There’s nothing. There’s no sanitation at all. The school is unable to even provide napkins. They’d give it to us if they had it.
6 News Australia, run by 16 year old Leonardo Puglisi and his friends in between classes at school, is one of Australia's leading sources of political news.
The news outlet regularly breaks stories, and has previously interviewed many of Australia's leading politicians including the Prime Minister and opposition leader during the last election.
The outlet is currently in beef with the Queensland state government after publishing leaks that they are planning to sack the Premier.
today the russian highest court decided that all of the LGBT "international movement" is extremist. and any queer activist could face up to ten whole years in prison. this is not a joke, and this is as extreme, horrible and absurd as it sounds.
transitioning, both medical and legal is already banned. any form of "LGBT propoganda", both for minors and adults is already banned. this is a really hard time to fucking exist as a queer person in russia. we can't even go to a protest, and putin had been practically the president for 20+ years, and there's almost no chance he won't win the upcoming election. the elections are a known scam for us. we live in a dictatorship.
I don't see anyone international speaking about it. this is big news. please help spread the word
it is heartbreaking to never see anyone caring about this problems globally, like when something regarding queer rights happens in america or in western europe then the whole internet is talking about it, but when even a catastrophe like this happens over here nobody bats an eye
this isn't said to offend you or anyone else. this is a cry for help and solidarity. like come on we queers are supposed to be a community!!!
if anyone is interested in donating even a small amount, please PLEASE do. queer organisations have to get to stay open sonehow. we need help.
this is the links where you can donate:
https://boosty.to/parniplus this is for the one of the biggest queer news websites for us
https://centre-t.ru/help this is the biggest trans organisation that is very helpful
https://lgbtnet.org/donate/ this is one of the biggest queer organisations that provides psychological, legal and much more help
https://comingoutspb.net/support/ another queer helping organisation
https://spherequeer.org/donate/ this one has been helping us since 2012
there are many and many more but this is still something
please don't ignore this just because it isn't positive or because you don't approve of russian war in ukraine. we don't support it either
link one
link two
link three
link four
link five
if you can’t donate, rebloging and spreading this around is best. we can wallow in how horrible it is and it is horrible, but talk about it and send aid and keep the conversation going.
i know we’re all focused on the somerton thing right now but there are worse things happening to the queer community, please give this your time and advocacy too!
most christmas lights are ugly and a danger to the communities they're in but the selfish assholes who put them up don't care about things like "people sleeping at night" or "drivers being distracted" or god forbid "life threatening seizures" no all they care about is putting on an ugly light show that nobody around them wants to see
if i sound angry it's because i am i'm on year 5(?) of putting notes through my neighbours doors asking them to change the settings on their lights to literally anything but strobes and every year they conveniently forget and put their strobing lights back up im tired
Australia continues to make life hell for the disabled people living there. It's unbearable the schemes they come up with to extort us. (As in collectively us disabled folks; i dont live there anymore)
Shit like this is why people need to understand that sometimes self-diagnosis is the only option you have. You become a lesser citizen once you have the label and it stays with you forever. If the reward of a diagnosis outweighs the risk for you, be very thankful that either those in power are lax with you OR... that regulations to oppress you noticeably don't exist yet.
The risk is often the heavier burden. It gives a lot of people a LOT of problems. You know yourself best.
hey y'all! if you're interested in supporting some palestinian artists, a small art publication i work with put together a list of palestinian artists and designers you can support. Purchasing from most of these artists goes towards the Palestinian Children Relief Fund (PCRF). also wanted to note the publication doesnt profit off this article through affiliate links or whatever. feel free to check it out!
thinking about the healthcare workers in gaza. i mean, i'm always thinking about them, it's impossible not to, but in the light of the 4 day ceasefire. 4 days, man, that is. that is nothing. they're not going to sleep, are they - barely, if at all. they've already been risking - and many losing - their lives to treat people, and they're going to try to make the most of those 4 days. because how could they not.
the Right to Rest for healthcare workers is something i'm very passionate and vocal about, because it's absolutely vital and in an absolutely dire state almost everywhere. i talk about how it's an easy profession to exploit because we go into the field because we care. governments and corporations use that care against us. understaffed, underpaid, overworked and burnt-out - those words describe most healthcare systems around the world. that's in peacetime, though. what if you only had 4 days? every doctor i know would work themselves to literally collapsing from exhaustion rather than risk wasting any of that precious time
i'm not saying this to call anyone to worship them as heroes, to commend their bravery. sure, it takes incredible bravery but the point is, no one should be asked for that much bravery. no one should be asked for this much sacrifice. no one should go through this kind of thing. it is not their bravery i want you to see (because that is obvious), it is their humanity.
they deserve safety to treat their patients in, they deserve proper aid, proper supplies, they deserve the ability to Rest - and the only way to have that is a Permanent ceasefire and sufficient aid - at the very least. that is the bare minimum
