Fortune's Weave Character Teaser: Olympia

Holy shit. These are some juicy fucking clips. But first, let's get to the lovely lady herself, Olympia.

Considering we’ve constantly seen her use light magic, it makes sense she’s a priestess. But as her appearance suggests, she’s also a performer, very much leaning into the prima davina, oujo-sama archetype. I’m always very fond of these kinds of characters. Honestly, though my decisions locked in to play Dietrich first, she’s making me warm up to Leda even more.

With the cutscene clip, we’ve also got some interesting story tidbits. First, it is heavily implied Leda’s real name is Leiridana, and that she was a priestess of Kalla before whatever happened that sent her on her revenge quest. And it seems priestesses of Kalla are performers as well.

We’ve got a competition called “The Festival of Roses”, and whoever wins is titled “The Rose of Caelus”. Caelus is Latin for sky/ heavens, with divine and celestial connotations. Olympia had a winning streak in it before Leda beat her. Now, Olympia is considered the “Blue Rose of Caelus”. Presumably Leda is the red rose. There’s also a strong chance the “Festival of Roses” will be like this game's version of the White Heron cup. Do we make Leda win so she can be a dancer? But if so, what about her inevitable unique classes? In that case, do we give the victory to Olympia instead, or perhaps someone new?

Speaking of roses, it makes sense Leda isn’t the only rose of the Rose Tempests. But that has me thinking about if each member is meant to represent a different colored rose.

Leda’s the obviously red rose, representing things like love, passion.

Olympia’s the blue rose, representing mystery and the unobtainable

Sirocco’s the purple rose. This one had less agreed upon meanings, but the common ones seem to be enchantment, regality, and love at first sight.

Muu could be green or orange. Green represents growth, rebirth, rejuvenation. Orange represents enthusiasm and admiration.

Buccar’s an interesting one, since his color scheme is rather faded, incorporating blues and oranges. If I had to guess, if the members are meant to represent roses, Buccar’s the exception, maybe representing the earth and soil that grounds and nurtures them. A bit of a stretch, but, eh…

Pink, White, and Black roses are also pretty famous rose colors, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we eventually saw members of the Rose Tempests who represent them. For instance, the pale haired woman who wields a sword and shield we keep seeing could represent the white rose.

But even after all that, there’s one last thing to talk about in the cutscene clip. We see yet another manakete here. 

So, this woman is striking for a lot of reasons. She’s green as fuck, covered in patterns and ornaments that look like Ivy. But Kalla’s temple is very red, the opposite color of green. So what’s going on? Is she Kalla? Or is she a fellow dragon checking in on her friend's temple? Perhaps Kalla died or disappeared during “the event” that caused Leda to leave, and a friend of the goddess has been managing the temple in her stead. Also, considering all the greenery on this woman, I’d assume she’s a bloom dragon, but if so, wouldn’t that affiliate her with the cat masked girl? But in another way, a bloom dragon would make sense as a patron to a rose themed team of characters. Man, I want to learn about this woman. Hopefully we’ll get to see more.

It’s also interesting that Cai and Leda’s teams are so associated with dragons and the clergy class. We can even see from the first trailer that these temples are right across from each other. And it’s also interesting that in this batch of character reveals is where the religious characters have been showcased. It makes sense. Healer units are a core part of any Fire Emblem team, and in the Sothisverse healing magic is tied more closely to faith than any other game in the franchise.

So this leads to an interesting question, who are the faith specialists in Dietrich and Theodora’s armies? Dietrich is interesting, because simultaneously the most obvious and least likely candidate is Fabio, a supposed missionary. But even if he does end up having a boon in faith, being an offensive mage is more of his focus, like Lysithea. Will House Lamine ingratiate itself to a third temple? Or will they end up coming across another Fodlan missionary (which would be really funny considering Fabio’s whole deal). Maybe Dietrich’s sister will be the healer unit of the team. As for Theodora, I suppose a priest or priestess closely tied to Saramis and it’s unique culture makes the most sense.

Of course, we’re still not done, because it’s time for the combat clip.

The Rose Tempests are up against two factions this time around. The red faction is fascinating, because they have the same banner as the Ribeira Winds, and are called… “The Sisters of Ribeira”!?

So, uh… This is a fascinating turn of events.

At its most simple and mundane, a bunch of priestesses of Allora took a liking to Cai’s team and their goals, and decided to form a sister faction (pun intended) to help save his father. But on the other hand, do Cai and his friends ascend to religious importance over the course of the story? Does Ribeira become a holy sight?

Looking at the minimap, we can see five units of importance on the red team. These usually correspond to bosses and minibosses with portraits. If so, who? I can see Ultand being one of them. Ninae too, since she has the crest of Aubin on her clothes. Are the Gun Nun and the woman with the green braid also priestesses of Allora? If I had to guess, perhaps the boss of the chapter is the elder, head priestess, so Ultands boss?

And then we have the yellow units, who have a purple aura over them, and a demonic beast at their side. Did the underworld cult decide to crash the party? But if so, why are the sisters red units instead of green? Did they join the games legitimately? Did the sovereign declare both teams still need to beat each other despite the interruption? Or did Leda decide that she wanted to take down the sisters even if there was an interruption? So many questions… and we still gotta wait two more months to get them answered, huh?

Fuck, man, these trailers keep revealing new tidbits that only reveal there were more mysteries about this game than we initially thought.

Also, at the speed we’re going, we’re probably getting Olympia’s English profile tomorrow. I wonder what awaits this Sunday?

So I was curious which unfortunate folks had to deal with sleeping near each other and decided to jot down the floor plan for the rooms. These are listed in order from the top of the map to the bottom, with stairs marked so that gaps between rooms are clear. Since the floors are stacked on top of each other, a character is presumably sleeping above/below the person with the corresponding number on the other floor (e.g., Sylvain’s room appears to be right above Byleth’s).

Misc. notes: 

The “commoners” floor does have some noble children. Of them, only Linhardt and Bernadetta appear to be from families that aren’t in some way in disgrace (unless I missed something in the lore somewhere).

Ignoring Byleth, male characters are always grouped together at the top of a floor and female characters at the bottom.

Within the divisions of gender and class, students are then grouped by house. Despite this, no section (that is, stair to stair/end of hall area) manages to be composed of only one house.

The Black Eagles come closest, however, as the middle section on both floors is four Black Eagles and a miscellaneous fifth. This makes the BEs the least intermingled in general, sitting stacked on top of each other in two groups of four. 

Possibly as a result of all this, Hubert is the only vassal who gets to sleep beside their lord. Dedue is a commoner (but sleeps directly below Dimitri), and Hilda, as a girl, is kicked to the other side of nobles’ quarters. That said, Dedue would probably hear any attack from his location, and anyone wanting to get to Claude would at least have to pass Hilda first.

And Lorenz. 

The only stairs are just beyond Leonie’s room; there’s a second set of stairs beside Raphael’s room, but we can’t use them and there are no corresponding stairs beside Lorenz’s room.

*SPOILERS FOR FIRE EMBLEM: THREE HOUSES BELOW.*

So I think I’ve found Seteth and Flayn’s dragon forms. Hear me out...

So this illustration is one we see in-game quite often. One of a seemingly random dragon. But what if it’s not a random dragon at all?

Look at the headpiece/hat in the middle. Look familiar? Might be a bit of a stretch, however.

It looks very similar to the headpiece Saint Cichol wears. The dragon also bears the same type of horns as The Immaculate One, and has similar “facial hair” (or fur, or whatever you want to call it) on its chin.

So maybe Seteth is a bit far fetched. But let’s move on to Flayn, shall we? Take a look at this tapestry that you can find hanging up in Seteth’s office.

A very ethereal looking dragon surrounded by flowers. The flowers appear to be forget-me-nots, which happen to be Flayn’s favorite. Her horns also look very similar to The Immaculate One’s. One could argue that this could be Seteth or his wife, but I don’t think that’s the case. Who else would be more likely to hang a tapestry of his daughter in his office than Seteth?

Also, in this picture, we can see what appears to be Sothis surrounded by five dragons:

The two on the right are very clearly Indech and Macuil, and the one in the middle is Rhea/The Immaculate One. So the two on the left must be Cethleann and Cichol.

Who look very similar to the two pictures above.

So this might be the biggest stretch of a lifetime! But I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this.

"For decades, wolf researchers believed ravens followed wolf packs to find food. Every biologist who flew aerial surveys over Yellowstone saw the same thing.

Wolves moving across the snow with ravens overhead, black shapes trailing the pack like a shadow with wings. The assumption was simple. The ravens were following the wolves. The wolves would kill. The ravens would eat. A study published in March 2026 using GPS transmitters on wolves, cougars, and ravens in Yellowstone proved the assumption wrong.

The ravens were not following the wolves. They were remembering where kills had happened before and flying over those locations looking for new carcasses. The relationship between the two species is real. The mechanism is not what anyone thought it was.

Bernd Heinrich, a University of Vermont biologist who spent years studying ravens in Maine and Yellowstone, first documented the scale of the association. His data showed ravens present near wolf packs 99.7 percent of the time during winter in Yellowstone. Not occasionally. Not frequently. Essentially always. On Isle Royale, researcher John Vucetich observed the same pattern from the air.

Every wolf pack had ravens with it. The birds were just always there.

The numbers at kill sites are staggering. The average number of ravens documented at a Yellowstone wolf kill is thirty. The maximum recorded at a single carcass is 135.

A wolf pack brings down an elk in the Lamar Valley, and within hours over a hundred ravens have materialized from across the drainage to feed. They do not wait politely. They land on the carcass while the wolves are still eating. They grab chunks of meat and cache them in the snow and in tree crotches for later retrieval. Research estimates that ravens can consume up to forty percent of a carcass, which means a wolf pack that kills a seven-hundred-pound elk may lose nearly three hundred pounds of it to birds.

That loss is so significant that one study proposed a theory that reshapes how we think about wolf pack size entirely. If a pair of wolves can take down an elk, why do wolves hunt in packs of four, six, eight, or more? The per-capita meat return decreases with every additional mouth. A pair gets the most meat per wolf. The answer may be ravens. Two wolves cannot eat fast enough to outpace a hundred ravens stripping the carcass simultaneously. A larger pack can post guards, feed in shifts, and physically dominate the carcass long enough to retain a greater share of the kill. Wolves may hunt in packs not because they need more teeth to bring down prey, but because they need more bodies to defend the kill from birds.

The ravens pay for their meals. Heinrich documented in his book Mind of the Raven that ravens serve as an early warning system at kill sites. Ravens are more vigilant than wolves. They perch in trees overlooking the carcass and scan the horizon in every direction. When a grizzly bear approaches, or a rival wolf pack, or a mountain lion, the ravens see it first. Their alarm calls alert the feeding wolves to the incoming threat before the wolves' own senses detect it. The wolves get airborne sentries. The ravens get an animal with the jaw strength to open a frozen elk carcass that no raven beak can penetrate.

That is the core of the mutualism. The raven cannot open the hide. The wolf can. The wolf cannot see a threat approaching from a mile away while its head is buried in a rib cage. The raven can. Each species fills a gap in the other's capability, and the result is a partnership so consistent that L. David Mech, the most published wolf researcher in the world, wrote that each creature is rewarded in some way by the presence of the other and that each is fully aware of the other's capabilities.

The play behavior is the part that makes biologists uncomfortable because it implies something beyond transactional mutualism. Wolves and ravens play together. Not at kill sites. Not during feeding. During downtime. Yellowstone observers have documented ravens diving at resting wolves, pulling their tails, and flying away. Wolf pups chase ravens across meadows. Ravens steal sticks from pups and hold them just out of reach. The interactions look like the cross-species equivalent of two bored kids messing with each other because there is nothing else to do.

Doug Smith, the retired lead biologist of the Yellowstone Wolf Project, had watched this relationship from the air for decades. Wolf researchers have believed forever that ravens follow wolves, he wrote after the 2026 study was published. Every wolf researcher has seen it. I have seen it routinely from the plane while wolves are chasing an elk in Yellowstone Park, numerous times. Ravens are just always there. This is an age-old observation. But it has never been rigorously tested until now.

The 2026 study, which used 2.5 years of GPS data from transmitters on wolves, cougars, and ravens simultaneously, revealed that ravens were not tracking wolf movements in real time. They were patrolling known kill sites. A raven that fed at a wolf kill in a specific drainage in November would return to that drainage repeatedly over the following weeks and months, flying over the exact location where the carcass had been, checking whether a new kill had appeared. The ravens were not following the wolves. They were following the memory of where wolves had killed before.

That distinction matters because it changes the raven from a passive follower into an active strategist. A bird that follows a wolf pack is reacting. A bird that memorizes kill locations across an entire landscape and patrols them systematically is planning. The raven is not tagging along. It is running a surveillance network across hundreds of square miles of Yellowstone, checking sites where food has appeared before, and showing up fast enough when it appears again that every observer since the 1995 reintroduction assumed it had been following the wolves the whole time.

The wolf and the raven share almost identical geographic range across the Northern Hemisphere. Everywhere wolves live, ravens live. The association is not a Yellowstone novelty. It is a continental relationship between two of the most intelligent species in North American wildlife, running continuously across boreal forest, tundra, mountain, and prairie, built on meat, memory, and a mutual awareness that neither species has ever needed to be taught."
