the hawthorne brothers as the four major periods of classical music (in my personal opinion)
nash is baroque. very rhythmic, structured, sticks to the melody. but when you listen closer, you see two different lines of music conversing with each other. repeating, rephrasing, analyzing. sure, he can get a bit boring, but iâll be damned if he isnât complicated.
grayson is classical. one melody, one harmony. everything is perfect, clean, effortless. scales upon arpeggios. three movements, all with its purpose. be short, be clear, be precise. never falter. never let them see you struggle. you could shatter it with a knife.
jameson is romantic. passionate, loud, emotional. mean chords and contrasting dynamics. sing, sing, BANG. bring in the brass. never let them leave without feeling something.
xander is contemporary. there are no rules here. donât establish a single key. bring in as many sharps and flats as you want. make it 9/4 time. be wild. be confusing, but never stop being expressive.
"The world bent to the will of Grayson Hawthorne. What money couldn't buy him, those eyes probably did."
-Grayson Davenport Hawthorne
I really like Alisa Ortega! I know most characters seem to think that she only cares about the money but I don't think that's true. It's obvious she loves the Hawthorne's and sees them as her family. I don't think it's far fetched to say that she probably became a lawyer just so she could protect them in the way she knew best. And the thing she did with Avery in thl? So stupid how the family is against her now. She got Avery home where Avery would be safe in her own house with her loved ones around (and so she wouldn't lose her pretty awesome fortune before she even got to really use it too let's be honest that would suck lol). This girl literally does what needs to be done constantly for THEM ALL and she constantly gets hate đ Plus I hate that the reason her and Nash didn't get married was bc she wanted to stay and he didn't. Like really?? But yet Nash has some stupid hate thing or whatever against her? I think they need to have a long and honest talk tbh. Anyway... I stan Alisa and we need more of her awesome sweet hearted boss self Ok? đ
yeah the one clunky point was really just that how alisa never really gets to want or enjoy anything in the book and she constantly gets blamed and shamed
but at the same time nashs thoughts arent completely un understandable
like when he found out abt how bad tobias was he had his is any of this worth it moment just like the other boys
and he wanted her to turn her back on all of it w him and when she didnt i think he just decided that they had different morals and views and goals and personalities
like purposefully libby is shown to be super devoted to a right cause rather than logic aka head vs heart and also the opposite of alisa and i think maybe nash wanted more of a heart person
but at the same time it was her family and her job and she didnt have the same liberty a hawthorne child did

okay, hereâs something that has always bugged me:
Itâs unrealistic for Grayson to have gotten over Emily enough in the first two books to date Avery. People here have⌠dealt with death, right? At the start of TIG, itâs been just over 1 year since Emily died, the boys became social pariahs, and family relationships became heavily strained. On top of that, itâs been merely ~1 month since their beloved grandfather passed.
Those wounds are still fresh. Deaths of the people you love already cling to you as they are, but now imagine you blame yourself for some said death?
Thereâs a quote in the first book where Nash tells Avery that you need to excise a wound before it can heal. In Graysonâs case: how can you excise a wound that you refuse to allow yourself to admit even exists? Graysonâs whole character shtick that people love is that heâs never saying what he feels out loud (see tags). Truth be told, outside of fiction, that shit is NOT conducive to a healthy life/relationships.
Iâll try to keep this short, so I wonât elaborate too much on why I think Jameson fared better. It comes down to the fact that he grieved the context and blamed Emily and the situation more than himself, and he also released his emotions verbally/physically (even if in unhealthy manners), showing that he recognized how this event affected him.
Also, please note that, while people thought this was cute and made them soulmates, Avery being able to read Graysonâs emotions based upon his body language isnât communication. It isnât Grayson dealing with his emotions either; itâs merely Avery interpreting them. Only one of them is acknowledging their existenceâ and it isnât the right person. On the other hand, Jameson and Avery made a code word to increase communication to overcome that vulnerability obstacleâ *thatâs* what builds healthy love.
Tldr; Death takes a long time to get over. You need to explore your emotions. Communicate = cope better. Donât communicate = uh oh.
edit: you can tell I wrote this after not sleeping for days bc I put exercise instead of excise whoopsies itâs fixed now
can we talk about how so many songs on midnights (+ midnights (3 am edition) are averyjameson songs? snow on the beach, labyrinth, sweet nothing, mastermind, the great war, paris, glitch, hits different? but specifically labyrinth and mastermind because?? walk with me here.
uh oh, i'm falling in love oh no, i'm falling in love again oh, i'm falling in love i thought the plane was going down how'd you turn it back around?
bold is avery, regular is jameson, and it's just SO beautiful. avery can't believe she's falling in love because like her mom, she never thought she needed romance, never understood what it felt like for one person to be her everything. with jameson, it was her keeping her at arm's length, trying his hardest to act like she was just a game and a mystery so that if he missed his chance in tig or most of all, that grayson loves avery and avery loves him back (because in his mind, who wouldn't choose grayson, especially over him?), he wouldn't get hurt. but he's falling in love again (and this time it's so much different because it's avery kylie grambs, and with everything that she is, how could he not love her?). i thought the plane was going down / how'd you turn it back around? is my favorite, though, because as nash and grayson said, jameson was self destructive and he was one bad idea away from ruining his life but god, avery made him feel something again, and dare i say, something he has never felt before (because he never truly loved emily)? he didn't want to solve the mystery without avery in tig, and cleaned up his act through thl and tfg. he stopped drinking, he opened up, he knew with every fiber of his being he was capable of horrible things, but because of avery, there are things too precious to gamble. she gave him a purpose again, maybe even for the first time? "i can't hate him, avery kylie grambs, because he brought me you"????
and mastermind?????
what if i told you none of it was accidental and the first night that you saw me i knew i wanted your body
avery "i don't believe in destiny or fateâi believe in choice" and "but unlike toby, i had no regrets. i would have done itâall of itâall over again" grambs?? (and tobias hawthorne wow)
and
no one wanted to play with me as a little kid so i've been scheming like a criminal ever since to make them love me and make it seem effortless this is the first time i've felt the need to confess and i swear i'm only cryptic and machiavellian 'cause i care
if these isn't the most jameson hawthorne lyrics that have ever been written?? it's so funny because everyone complains about him being cryptic and not making any sense with his riddles, being some kind of criminal showing up through fireplaces?? and he wanted so badly for emily to choose HIM but felt deep down that she loved grayson? that everyone loved grayson.
don't even get me started on anti-hero. and avery is you're on your own, kid?? but you're on your own, kid is also toby?? and oh my gosh, bigger than the whole sky is avery and toby ???? that's a post in and of itself. i have some grayson/nash/xander ones too AHH.
i'm absolutely feral this is gonna be an ongoing series ok bye
what's xander and max's ship name and why is it not xanax
Can I just say:
âI wonât remember what you mean to meâŚâ
âThere are so many things that I will never say..ââ

SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP MY HEART HURTS SO MUCH
MY FAVORITE BLONDE BOYS OF 2022
I BETTER SEE ALL OF THEM THRIVING NEXT YEAR IN NAH, OUABH 3, and TBH OR IM SUING SOMEONE
what manages to boggle my mind each and every time i remember it is in thl i think when avery goes to the bottom of the pool and comes up and jameson ushers her into the shower is that he STANDS IN THE ROOM W HER and i quote âHANGS A HEATED TOWEL OVER THE TOP OF THE SHOWER CURTAINâ
its not even sexual or anything but omfg the comfort and shit they have together its bogglifying
and i want it
âwhat if I told you none of it was accidental
and the first night that you saw me, I knew I wanted your body?
I laid the groundwork and then, just like clockwork
the dominoes cascaded in a line
what if I told you I'm a mastermind?â
Avery and Jameson. How they casually sleep together. How that keeps the nightmares at bay. How they have a code word. How Jameson plans her the perfect birthday. How they understand each other so perfectly without having to say a word. your honour they INVENTED romance
heard âthe last great americanâ today and thought i was hearing the inh games
remember when jamesonâs voice pulled avery back every time she was close to dying and then she realised heâs the person she longs for body and soul? the person she longs to have everything with? because i do and some of you need a reminder
