I think a lot of online conflicts happen because people jump in with a comment not knowing the full context, and end up forced to stick to overly aggressive guns because an apology would come off as insincere.
Like, I've noticed that in a lot of circumstances my first instinct is to assume the absolute worst intentions of people, and that's not helpful. 90% of the time, most problems are the result of a miscommunication, and can be handled with some tact.
Also one of the most powerful things I've learned is "give the other person an opportunity to bow out with some dignity" nobody wants to feel like they got mad over nothing. Acknowledge their feelings. "Hey man, it's good that you're passionate about this, but don't worry, It ain't happening here."
Every time I use google for some basic question I always think to myself there should really be a way to report a website to google for being useless low-effort SEO gibberish and a complete waste of time. At the very least there should be a way to hide those sites by default from any new search I make. That would at least be cathartic if nothing else. And yet. I back out of the useless website all frustrated and click the little kebab menu on the google result and there's no "don't ever fucking suggest this website to me again" button. I always expect there to be one. And there never is. It really gets my goat.
I installed the tampermonkey add-on to firefox and am using the "Google Hit Hider By Domain" script from greasyfork.org and it is very fucking satisfying now

i'm begging you guys to start pirating shit from streaming platforms. there are so many websites where you can stream that shit for free, here's a quick HOW TO:
1) Search for: watch TITLE OF WORK free online
2) Scroll to the bottom of results. Click any of the "Complaint" links
3) You will be taken to a long list of links that were removed for copyright infringement. Use the 'find' function to search for the name of the show/movie you were originally searching for. You will get something like this (specifics removed because if you love an illegal streaming site you don't post its url on social media)
4) each of these links is to a website where you can stream shit for free. go to the individual websites and search for your show/movie. you might have to copy-paste a few before you find exactly what you're looking, but the whole process only takes a minute. the speed/quality is usually the same as on netflix/whatever, and they even have subtitles! (make sure to use an adblocker though, these sites are funded by annoying popups)
In conclusion, if you do this often enough you will start recognizing the most dependable websites, and you can just bookmark those instead. (note: this is completely separate from torrenting, which is also a beautiful thing but requires different software and a vpn)
you can also download the media in question (look for a "download" button built into the video window, or use a browser extension such as Video DownloadHelper.)

I know someone posted the timeless main theme already, but my favorite musical moment in Goncharov is definitely the song that Katya sings in the cabaret just before the infamous poker scene with Sofia... and her reprisal of it just before she "dies" (EVEN THOUGH I STILL THINK EVERYTHING POINTS TO HER FAKING HER DEATH) just breaks my heart every time....
The music supervisors did their homework on this one too, because the lyrics are actually from a famous poem by Russian poet Alexander Blok, and they just fit the tone of the show SO well...
