Hi I caved dmhgjkdf So, dragons. Do the different races have different powersets? I know the general thing is fire breathing, but I don't think that would be particularly useful for an ocean dragon.

As stated in their description posts, each has different abilities.As there isn’t much foliage in their natural habitat, Mountain Dragons can breathe fire.Forest Dragons, who live in a forest that’s very flammable, can spit acid.As their primary habitat is underwater, Ocean Dragons can shoot out scalding hot water.

How would, for example, a self-insert Ocean/Mountain oc find their way around the world? I suppose a better question would be, what sort of world does this oc live in, and how does the world react to them being a crossbred Ocean/Mountain dragon? Asking for a friend of a friend... (it's me I'm the friend of a friend you're the friend)

That would be up to you, and up to how they developed. If they can breathe underwater, they could be taken in by either horde. If they can’t, then the mountain dragons would most likely take them in. And speaking of family dynamics! What sorts of family dynamics do you want for the different types of dragons? There's so much variety in life - will that variety be expressed in how families work with your dragons?

Are there, like, societies at the borders of main Ocean/Forest/Mountain society that act as a sort of mixing of the different main societies, where being a crossbred dragon would be advantageous?

How do dragon societies work? Like, do ocean dragons have a different society from forest dragons have a different society from mountain dragons? And if so, how different? Do these societies clash at all? Clearly they can interact harmoniously, if crossbreeding is shown to be possible - but what's it like for dragons that are part one type, part another? How well do they function in these different societies? Is society flexible enough for them to succeed in it?

As I’ve said before, this is based off of the famous Warriors series by Erin Hunter (also known as Warrior Cats). Some of this world will reflect off of that, including their societies. The Hordes are effectively clans, but they’re set up a bit differently. Can Ocean Dragons hear? Do they have sensory organs other than ears for hearing things? How does that make the ways in which they hear different from the ways in which other dragons with ears hear? If they can't hear, do they have other senses, like that electric sense sharks have, to augment their sensory perception of the physical world?

Yes, they can! While Mountain and Forest dragons have ears that point out like ours, ocean dragons just have holes. There’s a thin flap of skin that prevents sea water from getting into the ear canal, but it makes things a bit muffled. Do Ocean Dragons have gills or something similar to filter out oxygen from the water?

I haven’t decided on gills yet, though if @leafullyours wants to add them then that’s fine. Right now, all I have is that they have an apparatus that allows for breathing in air and water.Taglist:@butchhartmanfanclub @kinglazrus @leafullyours @bibliophilea @reversed-hopes

You said earlier that Mountain Dragons don't have gender. Does that mean they don't have a concept of "capable of child-bearing" vs "incapable of child-bearing but capable of donating something to the creation of the child?" Are all Mountain Dragons capable of child-bearing? Can any number of dragons donate something to the creation of the child? In short - how do the birds and the bees work, and how does that affect family units?

After careful thought, I’ve decided that Mountain Dragons are effectively agender while Forest and Ocean Dragons have males and females.Mountain Dragons can reproduce with any other of their species, or either gender from the other two species. All Mountain Dragons are capable of child-bearing, but not all choose to.Yes, any number of dragons can donate to the creation of the child.  The birds and the bees are still the same but the gender is taken out of the equation, and there can be very large family units because of how many dragons can help with a child.Taglist:@butchhartmanfanclub @kinglazrus @leafullyours @bibliophilea @reversed-hopes

I can see Mountain Dragons blending in with their surroundings, and Ocean Dragons blending in with the water - but what about Forest Dragons? They're so colorful! Is the forest just as colorful, and in that way, do they blend in with their surroundings? Or do they stand out, even in the forest?

The male forest dragons blend in perfectly. But as with our world, not every species blends in! Is the forest orange for the tiger? Nope! “this series” is The Dragon Hordes! A world with three known main types of dragons: Mountain Dragons, Forest Dragons, and Ocean Dragons! Crossbreeding is possible between types of dragons, so there can be many variations of dragons! The series is still in early development, and certain aspects of the world and how dragons work are flexible!

And once worldbuilding is set, we’ll get to see the world through the eyes of Preet - an adorable bipedal dragon who isn’t one of these types of dragons, who doesn’t know their societies or their ways!

Elves!!!

The humanoid species that shares the world with the dragons, elves, are the topic of this post. Elves are afraid of the dragons, mainly because they look big and scary. They developed magic to defend themselves and they live in a tense sort of peace with the dragons. Most dragons don’t care about the elves, they just want them to stay away from what is considered “sacred” lands. There is one subspecies of elf that is actively hunted and that is the drow elf. They seek to destroy the dragons and, as a result, the dragons will take out any drow elves found on their territory. Hey y’all. You wanna know what I love more than notes? Followers. Knowing that there are people who enjoy my work, who want to know more... It fills me with a nice feeling and makes me want to write more. Which is why I’m posting about this now. If/when I reach 50 followers I will have an event. Are there any crossbreedings that don't work out in the long run? Like, are there any combinations where, down the line, there could be no live children due to mutations or inability to breed or sterility or etc.?

There certainly are, but I can’t think of any off the top of my head.
