Monochrome is an emotionless sans who randomly found himself in the au of underfell. Fell took him in after he found mono injured, and how just keeps him safe as like a caretaker of some sorts. Monochrome is easily able to put up with Fell’s anger, so they just stay with each other from then on.

Apologies, I haven’t been online recently due to trying to do stuff on artfight and just drawing stuff unrelated to the empty souls like a new Crust ship kid I made named Slate.

But I will probably be posting my artfight attacks on my main account which I usually post on with my computer. It should be in my following named Ar10-Artz or something of the name.

Hello again! Same anon as before! Your explanation made total sense. I do have a few more questions though.

Are the artificial emotions kind of like medicine? Is it like a one and done type of deal? A surgery? A constant, life-long prescription?

Does Monochrome not want them because he believes that the emotions would be too "fake"? Or that they wouldn't be his?

Is there a way to access natural emotions without being born with them, or is what he wants impossible?

Sorry about there being so many questions, I just love digging into lore, especially when I'm unfamiliar with how things could work!

It’s totally fine! I honestly want to answer questions about him anyways cuz he’s my son and stuff.

The artificial emotions procedure is like a surgery where they just inject the artificial emotion syrum directly into the soul. Once artificial emotion is injected, it’s permanent for anyone who gets it.

Monochrome doesn’t want those fake emotions because he would feel like it wasn’t his own and it wouldn’t be real enough to make him feel like himself. You were exactly right on that!

With his journey, he had already started to gain a bit of emotions to refuse the artificial junk. He still can’t show it but his soul would be like a little bit of a tinted color. It is possible for someone to gain natural emotions, but it takes a while so most people just go with the artificial because they don’t want to wait. There’s only some information on people who chose natural emotions, but it’s very little.

If it's spoilers you don't have to answer, but why does Mono refuse to try to get color in his soul?

The only way for his au to get color in anyone’s soul is to go through a kind of procedure where they inject artificial emotions directly into the soul. Monochrome doesn’t want to have any kind of artificial emotion in him because he wants to be able to get emotions naturally.

If that doesn’t make sense I’m sorry I’m kinda bad at explaining things at the moment :,)

Lil lore drop for Monochrome! Sans (or at least what I kinda have until I write the rest

so monochrome sans. He’s jst a lil sans but les literally just monochrome colors. In this world, everyone’s feelings and emotions are from how much color they have in their soul. (example: if someone has bright colors, they share their emotions strongly then most people.) For Mono, he doesn’t have any emotions since his soul is grey and colorless. No matter what his brother suggests he refuses to try and get color on his soul.

That’s all the stuff I have for him and his story for now since I have just made him today
