Hello! It's everyone's favourite gay friend Lee!

I realised we haven't logged in here in a long time - we stopped tumblr for a while, then we got some new blogs - but there have been stuff happening.

First of all Gigi went through a horrible horrible trauma for several months between May and July, which she couldn't get away from, so we ended up with a new crisis alter - who's now being taken care of in the system. We're helping him get better and we are making sure he feels comfortable and that it's going to be A-OK!

Gigi has also been working on anxiety and depression and she's trying to cope. However we have been sort of inactive for a period of time - hence the absence in posts - but I've been coming out to help her with things she can't deal with and so have been Pi and Andy and others. If you've never heard of Andy before, he is an alter that was present for a long time but Gigi literally just learned his name now lol. He's about 17 years old, he takes care of crisis moments since he has a strong and overwhelming presence. He has been doing a good job keeping the crisis alter at bay through the months so we all appreciate him around. He's been helping when I really couldn't he's a good boy.

Both the crisis alter and Andy made an appearance in front of our therapist as well, and on our last therapy a lot of people kept switching back and forth even though our therapist is not someone who has worked with many DID patients so we don't know if he has realised the characteristic poses and voices and whatnot but we did point some things out, like how I sit and how Lisa tends to get excited and jump forwards and how Andy always sits really tense like and how he is really tall.

We're still trying to figure our what the crisis alter's name is, we know the first sound but nothing else that follows sounds correct and he hasn't been able to communicate it to Gigi clear enough yet, and I'm having problems getting the correct pronunciation through. We're just in a constant coconscious state and it's been hard to communicate one on one.

Gigi is thinking about attempting to talk to Angel, our system gatekeeper, I think it's... An idea so what will we lose.

All in all, this is a sum up for our last few months! I love you all! Hugs and smooches!

Yo we're going to therapy again and it's been quite some time since we could talk openly about all the system and it was pretty good

So we talked about our eating disorder, our problems with personal relationships and stuff then it came to the system and our therapist kinda wants to focus on the system first. We talked about the child, Serpent and the gang, Lisa and Lee and Amie and it. Was good it really was it's quite pricey but we're getting therapy again which is good. We were really dissociated at the end and he noticed that too so it's good it really is. Expect to see more therapy stuff on this blog and quite possibly more entries from alters again bc therapy is good for the system and makes activity

Why do alters form with different genders than the body’s sex? (Male alters in AFAB bodies, sexless alters in AMAB, etc). Is it always in response to CSA?

Hi Anon, I have two answers for this. One is that genders may differ from sex assigned at birth because some people (alters or not) are transgender and may identify as such. The second answer is that it is actually common for systems to consist of alters of different genders. Please remember that alters fill a purpose, so if you associate specific purposes or a set of traits with specific genders, you may find alters who match.

Just to expand a bit on what roles alters may fill along gender lines that are unrelated to sexual abuse or being trans:

Introjects generally present as the gender of the individual who they’re an introject of

If you associated caregiving with women, your caregiver type alters may be more likely to present as women

If you viewed men as stronger or more aggressive, your protectors may be more likely to present as men

If you had a great female teacher in elementary school and associated math skills with being a woman, one of your academically-oriented parts may identify as a woman

If you only saw men represented as being good at cooking, you may have a part that handles domestic life and identifies as a man

If you’re gay but were not exposed to good representation of being gay, you may have alters who identify as the opposite sex from you in order to justify their (your) attraction

You may have an alter that identifies as ageless, genderless, and non-human in order to appear powerful, mystical, or somehow separate from earthly matters

You may have a genderless alter because the alter formed before you understood what gender is!

There can be any other number of reasons depending on your circumstances.

In one of your recent asks you mentioned "trends such as focusing on alter differentiation" and I was curious about that. What exactly is the trend and how is it harmful?

Hi,

You might want to read this post about why it’s counter productive to focus on alters and internal world events instead of on experiencing and improving one’s external life and relationships. In short, many individuals use focusing on their alters as a distraction from putting the work into actually healing or moving on with their lives. Focusing on how alters appear or feel separate is counter productive to accepting that the trauma that created your system happened to all of you, that you all are responsible for each other and the system as a whole, and that you all need to work together towards improving and healing. As well, focusing too much on alters can become a way for an individual to feel unique or special, and a disorder should never fill that role! No one’s sense of identity should center around being disordered in some way. Unfortunately, the DID community here is very bad at stressing a focus on alters at the expense of more productive ways of approaching healing or at the expense of trying to heal at all.

What I thought this meant before I was diagnosed: one alter speaks five languages fluently, another alter is an olympic level archer, another alter knows advanced martial arts.

What it actually meant: one alter really sucks at making out, another can’t remember how to blow raspberries, only one alter remembers how to write in cursive.

I've been reading some things on here lately that have really upset me

Traumatised sexual-based child alters are still traumatised child alters

IT IS NEVER OKAY FOR AN ADULT PARTNER TO KNOWINGLY SLEEP WITH A MINOR PART

Yes this is my opinion and I rarely give those out here and if there was ever a time to speak how I feel this is the time

If you were a caretaker would you sleep with a hypersexual child?

Your answer should be no.

There is no difference between a traumatised minor and a traumatised minor alter - what they believe they need to do or feel to be loved or whatever else should not just be “accepted” - regardless of whether or not they hold part of the systems sexuality

It is NEVER okay for a partner to knowingly sleep with and/or sexually touch/groom a minor alter or allow the child to try it back

They need to be supported, taught other methods of dealing with their urges and responses and furthermore, if your partner disregards this, I would seriously question their morality

And honestly for once I don’t care who I upset. If you sympathise with partners that do think it’s acceptable to sleep with traumatised child alters (regardless of if they feel they ‘want it’), I have absolutely ZERO time for you.

one thing that hurts me a lot is to think nobody noticed. nobody thought there was something wrong, first time, second time, third time; but somehow more and more people came to push me down and torture me in a lot of ways but nobody noticed there was something wrong.

effects of parental abuse

+ the inability or struggle to say “no”, because disobedience meant punishment and you are used to being directed all the time

+ being unable to emotionally relate with your family (especially parents, if they are the abuser). concurring thoughts of “i won’t care if THEY die”, or “they won’t care if I die”

+ always afraid/hesitant to confide in someone else about feelings or thoughts, because you are used to being neglected/dismissed when you talk about your feelings, constantly being replied with “get over it”. the consequence of this is that the emotions/feelings pile up inside over time and, when you reach the limit, you suddenly become self-destructive or imminently violent/emotional

+ however, when given the chance to CONFIDE about your feelings with freedom confidently, everything spills out, even if it’s with a stranger or with someone you have not been in contact for very long.

+ you always assume that the answer to every question/statement you say is “no”, even if you definitely know the person is very likely to say “yes”. you prepare for denial and disappointment and feel a huge wave of relief when they say “yes”.

+ being secretive about enjoyment/liking things, or being secretive in what you’ve done for the day, even if it’s not deemed “bad” or “illegal”.

+ simultaneously confused whether you have affection towards your parent(s) or you hate them whole-heartedly, despite knowing that they abuse you. the confusion stems from “well, they’re my parent, so i think they’re doing this because they love me”, though the thought is, of course, false

+ being scared that people will only take advantage of you, as your parents consequently thought of you as an object to benefit from, and not someone to love.

+ being easily attached to others, because you had no parental figure. this can lead you to being easily manipulated and you are very easily controlled. children under parental abuse are also more likely to have “chosen families”.

+ having an “escape plan” or “last resort” if you still live with your parents, just in case they do something worse to you, thinking up of elaborate plans to get out, how you’ll survive, where you’ll stay, etc.

+ being surprised learning that other parents are unlike your parents, and having to have someone/a source to tell you that what your parents are doing is abusive, and as a child you thought it was normal to be unhappy at home.

+ liking school or days out because that meant being away from your parents

+ developing emotional/personality disorders and distorted thinking

guys DID exists on a spectrum like

The spectrum is pretty varied.

There’s those who don’t have any present day amnesia, and just have it for past trauma (as of the DSM 5),

There’s those who may have a bit of amnesia, but only very occasionally,

There’s people who may have a black out once in awhile

And then people who have holes in their switches and may black out occasionally

and people who always have complete amnesia,

and everything in between. 

It’s not like a line with complete amnesia or no amnesia at all (OSDD-1b). It’s more like the color spectrum.

DID IS A SPECTRUM. DID ISNT CLEAR CUT. A LOT OF PEOPLE AREN’T ON THE MORE “EXTREME” AMNESIA END!!! NOT HAVING COMPLETE AMNESIA FOR EVERY SWITCH DOESNT MEAN IT’S NOT DID.

you don’t “beat” depression. you don’t “defeat” eating disorders. you survive them. stop making severe mental illnesses sound like something you can overcome just by throwing the right punch.
