Top three countries that I would never use as a Gothicverse story setting:
1) Portugal. Spain but without the mystique. I don't want it.
2) France. All French folkoric monsters are whiney babies or just straight up animals but meaner and possibly bigger. The vibe just isn't there.
3) China. I read about the Jiangshi and I decided they are the worst version of the vampire ever conjured by the imaginations of mankind. I don't like it.
Top three countries I would definitely use:
1) The Philippines. They were supposed to be in season one of Matador Gothic but I had to cut that section due to time constraints and production that was already pushing my limits, and I still regret cutting it.
2) Canada. Fucking cool ass setting for anything wolf related if you ask me.
3) Germany again, but in an era before it was called Germany ao it doesn't count as re-using Germany.
Finally watched Project Hail Mary and it's officially in my top 5 rewatch movies
little thingy from the other week, stuff on my mind
Or as I've always liked to put it, "No matter how suspicious you might find the neighbor who never opens their blinds, they will never be as suspicious as the neighbor who wants free rein to peek in through people’s windows."
If THE modern translator of the OG Odyssey text wrote this about my film adaptation I’d kill myself
Emily Wilson you’re goated
This felt so good to read.
The fastest way to accomplish The Project is to cease being afraid of The Project. The Project cannot maim you. The Project cannot kill you. The Project is more afraid of you than you are of it. It is okay if The Project turns out differently from how it was in your head, and it is okay if it has flaws. You are capable of engaging with The Project.
anyone else hoping for Poly MAAM or is it just me and my friends ?
Desperately, yes

Totally normal for a legitimate for-profit company to refuse to reclaim or stop running their products even after they're no longer being paid to do so. I'm sure it's very normal to just keep running your service for free when your contract's been terminated. Spending money to continue running cameras that supposedly no one is looking at is definitely not an indicator they are just run by the federal government to spy on everyone and only a wacko conspiracy theorist would think so.
That time of night to be thinking thoughts
Hey girls I'm curious about something and I need insight into girlbrains help me out.
So you know that stereotype that boys like to have cliche fantasies about dying in battle to protect their loved ones while reflecting on their lives on their final moments? Bleeding out in the snow while victorious but fatally wounded seems to be the most popular one for some reason. Yeah, those fantasies.
There's definitely a version of this for women but it's a little different. Less of a "dying in battle to save people" fantasy but more like a sympathetic, tragic self-insert heroine type of fantasy. I don't have the insight to see a pattern of what the most popular tragic fantasy scenarios are. I wanna know what the most popular scenarios are and see if I can find a common thread.
Anyway I'm trying to collect as many tragic daydreams as I can and I want to see if I can find a winner. This is a completely non-judgemental question of pure curiosity, so don't worry if you think your tragic heroine fantasy is cringe, too dark/depressing, or a maladaptive daydream or whatever, I still want to know about it. Tell me any and all scenarios featuring romanticized suffering or death that you've imagined yourself in. Also, are they something you still do, or something you used to do when you were younger but grew out of? Tell me everything.
So far "being dragged away from your loved ones by assailants while screaming" and "beautifully tortured artist and/or philosopher with traumatic backstory" seem to be the top contenders. Being persecuted in the actual literal witch trials is a popular pick too. I want more anecdotal information because I just know there's a pattern in there.
Okay bff says that her top 3 are: the tragic love of Phantom of the Opera; being a mermaid and getting captured; and being a princess whose castle is under attack, running down a beautiful staircase to escape but being fatally wounded, reaching the balcony and watching the sunset in your final moments
For me it was Beauty and the Beast stories, making potions/casting spells, looking for fairies in the garden, and having magical powers to defeat evil (and getting heavily wounded in the battles)
