I’m so fucking annoying it would better if I was dead instead of making a fool out of myself.

People who consider compassion for the harmless yet annoying outcast a virtue often make a point to complain about how these human pests interpret their kindness as interest. They do this to signal to others that they are kind, but still separate from the hard to love. They do this because they conflate burden with virtue and want to paint their annoyance as Christlike. They are polite to the person they dislike rather than impolite, because of this they are inherently better than everyone else being annoyed by perfectly harmless behavior. Public rants about how annoying someone is and the drawbacks of being kind to vermin is fine, so long as you clear the lowest bar and are a polite person.

Instead of simply tolerating they’re opening a dialogue with those who also want to openly hate the subjects of their ire. Be that a awkward to be around coworker or the lonely autistic student. Instead of simply tolerating they contribute to exclusion and hope to make those who feel lonely and annoying feel shame for ever thinking kindness could mean someone might actually like them.
