No one really knows what happened to Moonflower as she didn’t leave behind any clues or leads. Those who would know would be Moonflower herself (if she still was herself). There could be others that might lessen the mystery more but Adlib and Truthless are not letting Stargazer summon the Nether Queen. (And the Guide is still pissed at Adlib and the Playwright).
Playwright could know something but I don’t think she might be involved in what happened personally.
"The answer is 'no', Stargazer." Truthless Recluse set down his sugar quill.
"But I could open a rift, ask my ONE question, and close it up before any damage can be done!" Stargazer Lily protested.
"Read my lips, little girl." Truthless Recluse tugged his collar down so she could see his mouth, "N-O."
He shot her another sharp glare.
Stargazer Lily matched it.
Truthless Recluse's heart did a small twinge of pain. She looked so much like her mother when she was angry.
"Opening a rift through the living and the dead will always result in disaster, no matter how "quickly" you think it may be." He shook his head, "She's alive. I know it."
"But how?! You've been stuck here for years!" Stargazer Lily threw up her hands in defeat.
Truthless Recluse paused, "Stuck here..? Is that...what you think this is?" He asked softly.
Stargazer Lily recognized that tone immediately, he'd been her professor for years now. She'd disappointed him by overlooking something obvious...but what?
"W-well..." She crossed her arms, ignoring the nausea that bubbled in her tummy, "You keep saying you left the fae wilds to find my mother...but you're just..." She gestured weakly to him, "Here..."
Truthless Recluse thought of Ad Lib, of Moonflower...of Stargazer...
He softly closed the book he was marking notes in and stood up, "You're right."
Stargazer Lily frowned, confused.
"I think..." He said slowly, "You have learned all that you can from me."
Stargazer Lily's eyes widened, "W-Wait, Professor, please —!"
"And I think it would do you well to continue your studies independently." Truthless Recluse nodded as she began to shake her head.
"No! Professor! Please, I didn't mean —," She tried to cling to his sleeves as he gently guided her out of his office, "Please, d-don't leave me, too!"
Truthless Recluse almost broke. He almost pulled the young princess back into his arms to console her.
He'd left the fae wilds to find his best friend, and instead he found her daughter and her wonderful, silly, charming...amazing father...
He needed to get back to his original task.
He gave her one tiny push out of his office, closed, and locked the door before he could take it back.
"Professor! No! Please!" She pounded on his door.
Truthless Recluse took a shaky breath and rested his head on the door. His throat felt tight, but he knew what he needed to do. He turned away from the door, ignoring Stargazer's pleas for him to not leave her, not leave her father, and crossed the room back to his desk. He began drafting his resignation letter while his magic began to pack all of his supplies and personal effects away.
