I’d like you all to know I’m not transphobic in any regards, not against transgender women, not against transgender men, not against humans or folkel outside of that binary or in between.

I believe that sides of the transgender spectrum may share some struggles, and maybe have unique struggles case by case and depending on each individual person’s gender identity and expression. But I’d never intentionally condone the act of putting the unique struggles of transgender men over any struggles that transgender women may have, or vice versa. We are all transgender, and we need to stand up and unite with one another.

If that’s what you’d like to call it, I won’t object, I certainly see why you’d feel that way.

But I genuinely was not aware that the Elvis Presley account was being serious about the statements they made during our brief interactions, as in the past she was much less serious about her statements and it felt that it was much more a part of her accounts gimmick. I don’t want anyone in my communities feeling as though I agree with their disgusting statements about transgender men. Especially as someone who is on the transmasc gender spectrum, I don’t tolerate in-fighting, and especially not in-hating and in-bigotry. So I feel as though making this post is necessary in case my previous interactions with them did make anyone feel threatened.

My initial post was in regards to finding out a popular Elvis Presley gimmick account was starting to make a lot of upsetting transandrophobic comments that in the past I interacted with because I thought it was a gimmick, and as a result accidentally encouraged some harmful behavior under the assumptions it was all fun and games—so I assumed you may have been referring to that.

but if you’re not, I have to ask—what exactly was the point of you accusing someone attempting to spread positivity after making a mistake a “PR clean-up”… if you didn’t know anything about the situation that led them to make their initial comment to begin with? That seems less productive and more malicious.

It wasn’t productive or malicious just an observation. Even with the context it seems very PR. The type of shit influencers do when a fucked up tweet of theirs resurfaces.

Well, I’m certainly not an influencer. Just a therian who made an honest mistake, and wanted to clarify that I don’t condone the behavior I was accidentally encouraging, and violently abhor those who do.

Hold on—previously they had interacted with a meme of mine centered around transgender men and based on my interaction with them, I thought that they were being jocular about their hatred for transgender men, that it was apart of the gimmick. Does anyone have any proof of them actually being serious about their statements? I’d hate for my previous interactions with them to come off as any sort of endorsement if they actually harbor any bigotry towards transgender men if this is true.

Fucking yikes, okay. Been seeing some dogshit arguments lately. Therians stop advocating for paraphilia conversion therapy challenge (impossible)

For a refresher, let's go over some facts about zoophilia!

"Healing" and "seeking help" for zoophilia or zoophilic disorder does not mean erasing or reducing the attraction, which is what @/c4tch-th3se-p4ws seems to think. If you want this for us, you are in favor of conversion therapy. Real treatment for this or any "harmful" attraction involves reducing intrusive thoughts and improving self-image.

If your paraphilia is not causing the possibility or intent to harm yourself or others, and is not clinically distressing, it is not disordered and you do not need to seek help if you don't want to. Same with every symptom of any mental health condition ever.

Attraction is not action. Having fantasies, making art, roleplaying, etc is not equivalent to hurting a real animal and is not a sign that you're dangerous.

We are not ticking time bombs, and our attractions are not uncontrollable. Folkel like to treat us like sex-crazed lunatics who would fuck the first animal we see, but that's simply not the case. Very few folkel with any attraction, no matter the nature, are like that. If you don't think someone who is attracted to a specific gender or someone with a "harmless" paraphilia is like that, ask yourself - why are your standards different for us?

There are some groups of zoophiles you should keep clear of. Block on sight anyone who labels themselves as ZETA, pro-contact, or a xenosatanist. Be wary of radqueers.

A good chunk of therians are zoophiles and/or autozoophiles. Attraction to one's own species is normal.

Being proud of being a zoophile is better than being suicidal because of it, though this can be a double-edged sword and lead to pro-contact ideology.

Proper education and acceptance, dare I say "normalization," will reduce rates of animal abuse.

And finally, some rent-lowering gunshots: I am an anti-contact zoo and autozoo who draws and writes about fucking my own species to deal with mating urges. I engage in petplay and ERP. I am not disordered. I am not a danger. I speak to a therapist about it, I got help when I first discovered it and was scared by my thoughts.

Misanthropy is a form of self-harm

Please note: This post uses "people" as a species-neutral term, and refers to purposefully perpetuated hatred/fear/distrust of humans, not clinical misanthropy. It is addressed to the broader nonhuman community and is not intended to "reality check" endels, physical therians, transspecies folks, etc. You guys can skip paragraphs 4, 7, and 8 if they aren't relevant to you, but please still read this.

This one is going to be hard for a lot of people in this community to hear, but the longer I've been alive the more convinced I've become that misanthropy always stems from unprocessed self-hatred and insecurity.

There is a tendency among therians and otherkin, especially anyone newly-awakened, to see humans as somehow worse, lesser, or even evil as a form of self-affirmation, and it eats away at those people from the inside. It's part of a common phenomenon where people with marginalized identities cope by turning the out-group (in this case humans) into an unrelatable enemy that oppresses them by simply existing. In every case, that type of outlook is unrealistic, unsustainable, and results in further feelings of alienation, rejection, and self-pity– as well as retaliatory antagonism from people in the privileged group who would otherwise be supportive. All it does is make everyone miserable and create an ever-growing rift between people who could be creating community together.

The way this behavior presents in nonhuman spaces is generalized misanthropy. Statements like "humans could never understand us", "my boss forced his horrible human culture onto me today", "of course [x] is terrible, humans made it", and the ever-present "I hate humans".

Unlike in other marginalized groups, however, with therians/otherkin this out-group bashing presents an additional problem: we were born into human-shaped bodies and live human-shaped lives. It is impossible to say "I hate humans" without also saying "I hate my body and my life". Saying "I hate humans" is, unambiguously, a form of self-rejection. Holding on to misanthropy is what keeps therians and otherkin feeling miserable about themselves.

Humans are just another species of animal, and they're one you will need to learn to like in order to be happy unless you plan to fend for yourself in the woods your whole life.

No matter whether or not you see yourself as human, humans are your peers, your family, and your community. They make the clothes you wear, grow the food you eat, and built the home you live in. Every book and movie, every song and painting, every craft supply and hiking trail and recipe you love was created by and for humans, or at minimum required human technology to create. You cannot escape that, and trying to reject everything around you will make you increasingly isolated, depressed, and angry.

Species dysphoria is a bitch, but it doesn't have to define you. You will grow into your human-shaped life, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. You will find ways of acting human you enjoy, and meet humans you love more than you ever thought was possible. You will sing and dance with them, build community with them, and in doing so will learn to love the human parts of yourself. You will learn that humans are just another animal, and no animal is inherently bad.

You can stop hurting yourself. You can build a human-shaped life you love. I promise.
