Things I would do if I was directing Newsies!
Jack's penthouse decorated with drawings of Santa Fe and sketches of the other Newsies.
Davey and Les would be walking through the audience towards the stage as the Newsies are dancing during Carrying The Banner on their way to the circulation gate. Les would let go of Davey's hand sometimes and he would have to grab him. David helps Les onstage. They have small interactions with some of the Newsies.
-Also more crowd around carrying the banner! I'm thinking like Consider Yourself and Who Will Buy from Oliver!
Maybe David and Les's mother is walking with them - setting them apart from the other Newsies, or perhaps later on when they are late because they had to help their mum with something, we see her briefly.
The Delaney brothers walking towards the circulation gate too - we see them together as brothers same as we see David and Les and Jack and Crutchie.
Katherine and Davey being noticeably different to the Newsies (Les too) and becoming more Newsie-like as the show goes on.

Maybe they are around the theatre o - I imagine Medda looking out for them.
Les gives Crutchie the pencil - later we see Crutchie is writing his letter from the Refuge with it!
Some of the Newsies DON'T HAVE HATS. So when Jack sings "even though we don't got hats or badges, we're a union just by saying so!" They are nodding in agreement.
Some of the Scabs are boys who were there for the strike but they don't join in with seize the day. They kind of back away.
Katherine being part of seize the day, I don't even care. She's dancing with them.
Idk why but Elmer literally taking a bite out of the newspapers as they are grabbing them and tearing them all up and stuff. This is just funny to me.
Bill and Darcy are Katherine's friends - one of them takes the photo (Katherine is in the photo)
The Delancey's take Crutchie's strike banner that he has tied to his Crutch and throw it to the ground before they beat him up.
Crutchie isn't calling out to Romeo and Finch for help he's warning them to get away.
Not knowing if Crutchie is alive until he appears for Letter from the Refuge.
Jack picks up Crutchie's strike banner and he keeps hold of it for the rest of the show - tied round his wrist or like a bandanna round his neck.
Some Newsies are left injured/hurt on the ground when everything clears and as Jack is starting to sing Santa Fe - somehow we see that Davey and the other Newsies are helping each other and looking for Jack, finding each other as Jack is singing
"Let me go far away, somewhere they won't never find me."
Also back at the penthouse - Jack is taking his drawings of Santa Fe (drawn and painted on newspaper pages) and ripping them up and throwing them away.
In Santa Fe, Jack would sing "The kid's just too damn slow" about Crutchie.
