Hello, everyone!!!

We are The Musical Graveyard, a sidesystem comprised of solely Will Wood facitves! We are radqueer, but antis can interact if they are nice! Some basic information is that we are (cis)autistic, which means we would rather be interacted with with tone indicators! We also likely have (cis)OCD, which, in our case, at least, means that we might take a while to reply due to intrusive thoughts! English is not our first language, so forgive us if we make a mistake! This is not a sideblog, we can like posts! We post potentially triggering content at times, but we always tag it when we remember to do so (some tags and words will be censored to avoid the deletion of our blog, so watch out for that)! We like to coin terms and make flags at times, so feel free to send a request or a few, just don't count on them being done very quickly as we don't always have the resources needed to complete them right away (we have the right to deny requests for any reason) /not mad /not forcing!

what “don’t encourage the delusion” means:

don’t argue with or challenge the delusion—attempting to disprove someone’s delusions is not helpful at all and will result in that person not trusting you

assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times

encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others

start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms

do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode

what it does not mean:

insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what they’re experiencing isn’t real

I don’t mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever they’re dealing with unharmed.

i don’t think it’s trivializing at all, nor a weird comparison—as a psychotic person who has had psychotic episodes inadvertently triggered by drug use and/or worsened while trying to self-medicate with drugs, i think this is an important addition.

Shep and Em’s Tips for Practicing with AAC:

- Google, “intermediate [your native language] practice sentences” and copy the sentences using AAC. For English, I like intermediate rather than advanced, because the advanced sentences I found used more complex vocabulary that was far less likely to be found on AAC buttons.

- Watch videos made for children or new language learners and copy their sentences on your AAC, or answer any questions they ask.

- Write paragraphs or stories on your device about characters you make up, or those you like.

- Info dump on your device about your special interests.

-Hold conversations in which you type out the responses of both parties.

- Copy song lyrics onto your device.

- To get practise using your more creative or less frequently used buttons, write poetry or song lyrics, or describe the space around you in as much detail as possible.

- Use AAC to talk to family members, pets, or stuffed animals (this method is Shep’s favourite).

Fun ways to practice using an AAC app!

Recently, I started to practice using my new AAC app. I was looking for some ways of doing it, and I found and came up with some suggestions :)

Answer ask games! You can find these here, on Tumblr or just find a set of questions somewhere else. You can find a specific ones on the topics you like or the topics that you would find useful in communicating every day. You can make questions yourself, but I think that answering others' questions is a bit better, because they can be surprising/not what you expected. Just like in communicating with other people.

Make up some scearios and play them on your own. Think of any situation that you can experience for real. To add some fun to it, you can even move your body and imagine other people being there and talking to you! These situations can include:

-> a little chit-chat with your friend(s)

-> a conversation with your teacher/cashier/doctor/ect.

-> asking a stranger to tell you the way to a place you don't know

-> meeting a new person (official (like a new co-worker) or not (like a new friend))

-> asking a shop assistant to show you where is the product that you're looking for

You can also make a crisis plan for a verbal shutdown (if that's your case). You can make a folder with full phrases that inform the other person what you experience and what are your needs at this moment.
