In case y'all don't know, I treat my bookmarks on AO3 as a rolling rec list. It is also, as my friends use it, a good way to gauge the depth and complexity of my current mental illness.
This event runs from the 3rd - 9th of September 2025.
The rules for this event are as follows:
1. No explicit material featuring minors, bestiality, or rape/non-con.
2. Dub-con, major character death, and graphic depictions of violence are allowed so long as they are adequately warned for and tagged.
3. OT3s are allowed, as long as the relationship is F/F/F.
4. All works must feature an F/F pairing as the primary ship. F/NB is allowed. OCs are also welcome.
5. As this is an event for celebrating female characters and relationships, we request that you do not include genderbent canonically male characters in works for this event.
6. Written works can be of any length. Art may be of any medium, including graphics and photosets. Playlists are allowed and we welcome them.

Standard Blog Rules & FAQ
(Due to previous asks, we made sure to add more points to this section - while they're not new rules, they're newer to this list, so you'll find them colored green)
No inc*st or p*dophilia - we can’t keep you from writing it or creating art for it but it won’t be reblogged.
No inc*st: This rule does not apply to distant cousins and such, as you might find in the LotR fandom (or basically in all of European Monarchy). The line we draw is at direct blood relations (siblings, parents, kids) and/or legal guardianship.
No p*dophilia: This rule does not rule out fandoms that feature teenagers such as Harry Potter, Heartstoppers, Hunger Games, etc. It also doesn't mean you can't write about their time together as teenagers! It's aimed at ships in which one is a minor and the other is not - but since even that has grey areas, the rule is this: if you keep it SFW, all is good and allowed, we don't care; if it turns NSFW, be mindful of the legalities of the world/society/times your characters live in.
No hate or ship bashing - we’re all different and we all love different things. As long as it doesn’t go against rule #1, it’s allowed.
Tag correctly! Trigger warnings (including cheating!), ships, ratings, (pure) smut, etc - it’s all fine as long as you tag it.
There’s absolutely no word count restriction, write as little or as much as you like.
In regards to art, anything goes: drawings, paintings, collages, mood boards, gif sets, videos, playlists… the sky’s the limit (though not really…). If you would like to create a podfic, the fic you're using does not have to be new - your creation will be new!
You can mix and mash different mediums however you like, be it within one prompt or on different days.
While we can’t force you to write fluff or create fluffy art, please try to keep in mind that this is a fluff event 😉 that, of course, doesn't mean you can't combine it with angsty/whumpy prompts - hurt/comfort is absolutely welcome!
You can start creating as soon as you see this - but please refrain from posting before the respective day.
If you post early, we will schedule your post for the correct day; if you use multiple prompts in one creation, we will post on the earliest day you used.
You can participate on as many days as you like, even if it’s just one; you can also create multiple entries for the same day.
You can replace as many original prompts as you like with our prompt extras; you can also combine them with the original prompts or create for them in addition, that's completely up to you.
It’s okay to write one story/a series for all the prompts.
You do not have to stick to one character, ship, or even one fandom - switch as often as you like to or even write for multiple ships for one day.
The ship does not have to be a romantic one! Friendship and family feels are more than welcome (but this is not a way to get around rule #1!)
Original works as well as OCs in fandoms are welcome! But please make sure to mark these clearly, either in the tags or the post itself. We're not familiar with all fandoms (though we're definitely learning a lot!), so we're not always sure what might be an OC and what might be such an unknown side character not even Google can find them...
Reader insert fics (for example "character x reader") as well as RPFs are absolutely allowed.
Other languages are also welcome - just make sure to clearly mark the day and fandom so that we can still easily reblog.
This event can be combined with other events as long as the other event allows it.

Occasionally, I'll remember I've read masterpieces written by fanfic authors that I will forever carry with me and that have shaped me into the writer I am today.
Not enough love is given to fanfic writers.
We do it all for free, and we get to touch so many hearts and make someone's day better with words.
So when people complain when we ask for engagement and feedback, try to remember that the written word carries a power that is seldom matched.
Ask yourself why you're reading fanfiction in the first place.
To feel.
To love a character through the words of someone else who is able to bring them to life in a way that allows them to take root in your heart and feel an immense sense of gratification and passion.
They live through you because someone out there decided to sit down, click their pen and put into words how much that character means to them.
And they will mean so much more to you because of that.
since I've seen it talked about in several places recently:
if you are going to do a whump- or kink- or ANY-tober or other similar challenges please please please don't post them as one fic with 31 chapters unless it actually is one coherent fic. if they're 31 completely separate fics or ficlets then please just make a collection for them or just post them as separate fics. it doesn't matter if they're only 100 words or if you think they're too small or insignificant to post alone, they're not.
and why this?
because if you post all 31 of them in one fic the tagging is absolutely useless. if I look for things to read on ao3 I'm gonna look at the tags, and if the tags include something that's a dealbreaker for me, i won't even click on the fic. I might not even SEE the fic because I've filtered out the nope-tag! so I'm gonna lose out on reading 30 perfectly nice fics because of one fic that my nope-tag applied to.
ao3 is about archiving. it's about clear tagging and being informative. there is nothing informative about it if the tags in the fic apply to random chapters while others have nothing to do with it. it makes so much more sense to have each work as an individual fic with its own individual tags and warnings, so readers can make informed choices.
of course, you do you. I can't police what other people decide to do. but personally, I find it incredibly frustrating to weed through 31 chapters to find the ones I actually want to read. so I don't. I automatically scroll past all works posted like that. and I know some others do, too.
there is absolutely no shame in posting short things on ao3. there is no minimum word count. no one is going to look at you funny if you post a small ficlet on its own, I promise. it's just going to make some readers very happy when they can actually find the things they want to read.
so, please. at least consider the upsides of posting each work as their own fic.
It also wrecks the ability to sort/filter by word count. If someone is looking for a story that is at least 10,000 words, that means they want a story that's at least 10,000 words, not 20 stories that are each 500 words. And me, as someone who likes short stories and often particularly seeks them out, won't see yours if I'm filtering for works that are 5k or less, for example. I am your target audience, and you're making it harder for me to find you!
I don’t know which fic writer needs to hear this but it’s unreasonable to expect of yourself to write all the story ideas that your mind comes up with. That’s not how creativity works! Unless you’re some kind of Productivity Georg that types at a laptop keyboard all day long, your mind just needs to rotate ideas and concepts like a room full of rotisserie chicken production lines. Some of them will end up being fully written, some of them will end up being 4 lines, some of them will be concepts inside a long list of fic ideas that will never get written, some of them will just fade. And that’s okay! You don’t have to beat yourself up for having a lot of ideas you don’t write, or a lot of wips you write a few lines or pages of and never finish. You wouldn’t expect an illustrator to just churn out full-ass paintings all the time, an artist will also just make sketches, line art, warm-up exercises, will just scribble some lines on a piece of paper. Your ideas and wips are just the same thing: warm-up sketches, exercises in creativity. And it’s also okay if you never really produce full fics, as long as your brain enjoys the exercise. Jogging across the neighborhood is not useless unless you win a marathon! It gives you endophins and strengthens your muscles and is healthy for you all around, right? Your fic ideas and pile of wips are the jogging. They give your brain the happy chemicals and exercise your creative muscles. You are not a failure for not turning your ideas into finished products. That’s just how it works.
Time is a crucial element in writing that shapes the narrative. From linear progression, to flashbacks and foreshadowing, it gives you complete control of how your story unfolds.
Here are some tips to describe the passage of time to make your narratives more compelling.
Use the natural world
Describe the changing seasons
Show plant growth and death
Visualise the ebb and flow of tides
Describe the decomposition of flora and fauna
Describe the ways that landscapes change on long journeys
Use the weather to illustrate time jumps
Illustrate the affect that shifting shadows have on a location
Use heavenly bodies like stars, the rise and set of the sun, and phases of the moon
Describe physical activities
Show family gatherings and how they change over the years
Describe the process of finishing a creative pursuit
Create repetitive activities and routines
Have a character engage in an activity, like gardening, that visually changes
Have your characters learn a new skill
Write a change in location that requires a journey to get from point A to point B
Use your setting's seasonal celebrations to illustrate a time shift for individual characters and their world
Use sound
Describe the ticking of clocks
Have your characters' voice change with their age
Illustrate changing musical styles
Have your characters improve an audible skill like singing, swordplay, or learning a musical instrument
Show a character's conversational style changing as they grow
Use the sounds of nature, like leaves becoming brittle as they crunch underfoot, or rain turning into storms
Use silence to illustrate it getting late
Describe objects
Have food left out go mouldy
Illustrate buildings and settings being overtaken by nature
Show the lifecycle of a family heirloom
