Dance of the Blood Moon Ball // The Brutal King // Caius x Vampire! Reader.
A/N: Caius has joined the dance and he’ll be claiming what is rightfully his! What a wild character. Like, he doesn’t even have a super cool gift or anything, he’s just so fucking crazy and that’s what makes him powerful. Love that freak.
Pairing: King Caius x Vampire! Reader.
Song: The Vampire Masquerade (Peter Gundry)
“I am in a sea of wonders. I doubt. I fear. I think strange things, which I do not dare confess to my own soul!”
You were a no one.
Simply a shadow, a nobody, nothing of any importance to the Volturi, and that was how you preferred it. Since the night you had been turned from mortal to monster, you’d been told that reticence was the safest way to live out your eternity.
The Volturi, you had been told, were vicious.
Beautiful and terrible all at the same time, alluring and yet, utterly dangerous to even the strongest of vampires. It was wise to avoid them completely, if you could manage such a thing. So you did, living your eternal life as a nomad. From one small, gray city to another you went, staying for a little while before vanishing once more. Never did you stay long enough to steal attention (though your unnatural beauty made such a feat rather difficult), never did you make a single friend or, luckily, a foe. You had lived in utter seclusion, nothing more then a foggy memory in some far away mind.
Which is why you were so shocked to find the invitation waiting for you in the rough little motel room that you had recently been calling your temporary home.
The black box had been placed on the fold out couch (how had anyone even managed to enter?), a gilded invitation placed on top of it. The golden calligraphy was elegant and shimmering…and you knew at once that it was not a request.
The Volturi never requested anyone’s presence, they so sweetly demanded it.
All who were unfortunate enough to be invited were, as you knew, expected to attend the Blood Moon Ball.
You would dance, you would drink, and then, as soon as the golden sun began to rise, you would vanish like a shadow once more. Deep down you hoped that once more you would be forgotten, at least until the next ball…
And so you were here, hiding in the darkness of the candlelit ballroom and wishing that you might be anywhere else besides this lavish castle. The gown they had so kindly provided made you feel like a queen, it was perhaps the nicest thing you’d ever owned. A simple black dress, long and strapless, was covered by a sheer black cloak that hung low and long. All along the fabric were glittering pictures; bare trees with skeletal limbs reaching towards your heart, thorny roses intertwined with one another, deer racing through the trees with wolves lingering close behind, and black birds flying through an imagined night.
You were terribly beautiful, something that even the glittering black mask nor inky shadows could not hide, no matter how you tried.
Perhaps that was what had drawn him to you.
From among the dancing figures came a frightening creature. Swathed entirely in black, from the long velvet cloak hung across his shoulders to the hideous mask, he looked like a shadow come to life, come to dance! The black mask he wore was that of a snarling monster, maw pulled back to reveal silver painted teeth. Strings of silver hung across his chest, strung from shoulder to shoulder and glittering with every careful step. From behind furious eyes, a frightening milky red looked within your golden eyes, pale blonde almost white hair hanging down his back.
Dancers figures parted for him at once and, as though he floated rather the walked through the crowd, he came with an obvious purpose:
He had come for you.
At once, at the very sight of him, there was a stirring deep inside of you.
It was a hushed whisper of a feeling, a hurried rustling in the deepest part of your unbeating heart, a pushing and pulling that you could neither understand nor explain. So when the man reached a rough but pale hand out to you….you accepted the invitation.
And you danced with him.
Spinning you slowly, the vampire held you tightly, as though he feared that you might slip away in the blink of an eye.
Red eyes burned brightly!
A gloved hand held your own, his grip tight and cold and cruel. The hand that had come to rest upon the small of your back pulled you closer, pressing you to a glacial heart as you spun through the crowd of masked monsters. The other was wrapped around your own hand, velvet covered fingers intertwined with yours. His grip was tight and his touch, despite the layer of black fabric, still managed to make you both shiver and burn all at once.
Golden eyes shimmered!
Faster and faster you danced, unable to flee from this strange man. Skirts spinning like savage shadows, you twirled and twisted so gracefully. It felt, you though, almost like a possession, as though your body was being lead about on puppet strings. As you danced on and on, the feeling inside of you was growing, rising and swelling like a summer storm.
Hollow eyes watched!
The crowd stole long glances, sometimes towards you and sometimes towards your partner. Dreamy humans wondered who (or what) you might be, hungry vampires laughed viciously and whispered amongst one another in low voices.
But if he cared at all, it never showed. Eyes locked upon you, the stranger kept on dancing.
Dancing and dancing until one song ended and blended into the next; until your body burned with pain and ached with every step; until you could take it no longer!
Pulling away so suddenly, you nearly fell into the crowd of dancers as you jolted back from the stranger. He seemed stunned, you both were. Such disobedience was unfounded, unexpected, and you nearly regretted it. Anger flashed through his pale red eyes and at that…you ran. Through the crowd, away from the spinning dancers, away from the masked musicians, away from all of it! You ran and ran through the dark hallways of the castle and for one small, fleeting moment, you almost felt safe….until you heard it.
Laughter!
Wild, wicked laughter!
It echoed through the pitch black halls, growing louder and louder as you ran. Quickly, you felt the stranger’s presence once more, following furiously after you and although you were quite fast…he was much faster!
“Darling!” He screamed, laughing still as he raced after you. “Darling, don’t run!”
Still you ran.
And still he followed.
One glamorous hall became another, gold and silver statues now the ones to watch your dance of fear, their faces frozen in wonder and horror, unable to help you. Running through the maze of, The tall windows let the moonlight spill in, red and beautiful and bloody. It only excited your utter terror as you ran wildly, hoping for some way out of this.
A sharp scream escaped your lips as you were suddenly tackled from behind, pushed roughly into the ornate walls by his strength.
“Got you!”
Ripping away his mask, the man revealed his true self. The mask of the beast fell and shattered into dark shards, revealing the beautiful creature that lay hidden beneath it. He was, perhaps, both the loveliest and most hideous thing that you had ever seen. Pale, snowy skinned and red eyed, his almost-white hair hung around a beautiful face like ice from trees. Dark red lips burst into a wild grin, his long teeth shining in the blood red light. And all at once, you knew just who you had been dancing with:
Caius.
The killer, the conqueror, the brutal king!
All of the warnings that had been whispered in your ear came rushing back, now twisted into a rising scream. But beneath the scream, there was something else. A whispering, a rustling, that same strange feeling came again, swelling inside of your very soul. Like the wave rising far above the sandy earth, you could feel it about to come crashing down upon you, threatening to destroy everything you had once known.
And you could do nothing to fight it.
A strange sound fell from his lips, half a sigh of contentment and half a hungry growl. Leaning low and far too close, Caius pressed a wintry kiss to your collarbone and said in no more then a muffled murmur,
“Can you feel it too?”
Another kiss quickly followed the first, creating an icy river up your neck as the king pressed his body close to yours. Clawing into the wall behind you, long and deep scratches were left in the pale wall as he kissed and kissed and kissed you.
“That pushing and pulling!” He said with a rasped laugh. “Can you feel the grip upon your soul, bringing you to me?”
The only reply was a weak, hot whimper as he kissed your jaw, a wolfish smile coming across his pretty face. It was, at least to him, an answer enough. And it was in some way a confirmation of the very thing that you could not seem to be able to put into words. Deep down, you knew what this was, what you were:
Mated.
The very thing you’d wondered about, hoped for, dreamed and dreamed of for so, so long. You had always wanted and wished for a mate and now…now you finally had one.
And despite your abject terror, you could not help but feel overjoyed.
Rising up, Caius hovered over you, rose red lips just barely brushing against your own in a flush of freezing cold. Pale hands came to wrap around your waist, pulling your hips against his as you sighed into him…and finally he kissed you. Closing your eyes, you kissed the king back and found yourself falling and falling…
And you didn’t know where.
Perhaps it was into the darkness, somewhere so dark and so deep that you might never find your way out ever again. But in this moment, in this perfect kiss, you just didn’t care. Wrapping your arms around him, you clung to the velvet and feel deeper into the abyss that was Caius. Suddenly feeling yourself being picked up and moved but you cared not.
Again and again you kissed Caius, forgetting everything in the world as you did. And when you next opened your golden eyes, you found yourself elsewhere.
It was a bedroom, large and dark and drafty. Ornate furniture, black and silver, set about the room with old paintings tucked over the red walls. The canopy bed was draped in sheer fabric, shades of black and red and silver flowing in a breeze. Set upon the silk sheets, your hair was splayed out beneath you in a sea of tangles. Caius loomed over you, a sharp smile upon his pretty face.
You had been no one.
A nomad, a shadow, nothing. For centuries you had hidden away in the shadows only to be thrust so suddenly into the night. And now you were a queen!
The queen of the brutal king!
Dance of the Blood Moon Ball // The Bloody King // Aro x Mortal! Reader.
A/N: I’ll start the ball with the kings! Aro might not be my favorite character (fucking fight me for what you did to Didyme) but damn he is DELIGHTFUL to write for.
Pairing: King Aro x Mortal! Reader.
Song: Waltz of the Bone King (Peter Gundry)
“I have so long been master that I would be master still, or at least that none other should be master then me!”
Who were they?
These frightening figures swathed in black moved like shadows, graceful and elegant…and somehow so terrible! Masked men and women with shining teeth and bright eyes dance and spun in a circle all around you, occasionally reaching you as though to grasp you, only to pull away so suddenly.
Why were you here?
It seemed so impossible to member now…this morning seemed so far away!
There had been a golden invitation…and box with a red gown inside, so dark that it was nearly bloody, almost black. Long skirts of dark lace and a strapless top cut low, long sleeves that puffed out and tapered tight. There had been pearls, the very ones scattered around your neck now…and a mask placed carefully on top of the folded skits. It had been so lovely, red and black and decorated with tiny pearls…as though in some kind of trance, you had taken the pretty thing in shaking hands, tying the black ribbon and…
And now you were here.
In this strange place, dressed up like a delicate little doll, in that dress, in that mask. The dark cloud of dancers laughed and snarled and spun all around you as you looked about, trying so desperately to wake from this dream.
A voice from deep within cried out in terror, a weak and whispering cry, but before you could heed that call, something happened.
The shadowed dancers, still spinning gracefully, suddenly parted.
Dancing away, the others all followed in suit, and with the crowd split apart and when they did…you saw him. A tall, elegant figure walked through the masked dancers with a calm, confident sway. It was as though he walked upon the air itself, a smooth and dream like pace as he came closer. The red mask that he wore smiled so very sweetly, gold painted along the carved-away eyes and across the grinning lips. Shimmering bits of gold hunt down on delicate strings, tangling themselves in his long, inky black hair.
A hand reached out to you, skin so pale it was nearly translucent.
Taking the outstretched hand in your own, you quickly found yourself spinning away with him. Joining the array of dancers, the music seemed to grow louder and louder and you danced with the masked man, your mind racing with fear and wonder.
How strange he was!
Pale red eyes peered at you from behind the bloody mask. Surrounded by thick, black lashes, they had an almost milky look to them, making the deep red look rather cold.
How frightened you felt!
As the music swelled, your heart began to beat and beat, the sound of it growing so loud that it was nearly unbearable. Every beat of your precious heart seemed to excite the stranger, his eyes growing wide and bright. His grip tightened, becoming nearly painful, and he spun you faster and faster with every wild beat.
Leaning low, those golden lips hovered above your own as though he meant to kiss you…
But he only pulled away suddenly.
Dancing and dancing to the music, the stranger pulled you along with him. Spinning, swirling, dipping you so low that your hair tumbled to the marbled floors before he pulled you back into his cold embrace. Lost in the dance, you never even noticed that he had managed to spin you far away from the crowd.
Leaving behind the ballroom, candlelight shadows danced and danced until there was nothing, only darkness and a faint song echoing.
Dancing all the while, the stranger brought you into an empty room.
Here there were stone pillars reaching up into an endless ceiling and tall glass windows allowing the red moonlight to spill into the room…and over him. Delicate silver etching upon the glass made monstrous figures, shadows dancing over him. Drenched in scarlet light and shadow black, he looked so frightening! Like something out of some terrible dream! Oh, how you wanted so much to wake up…
Bringing you to a trio of stone thrones, he climbed the small steps and took at seat upon the first and foremost.
It was, you could tell, made for him.
He looked awful and beautiful and utterly perfect, like an emperor lording over his subjects. A pale hand reached up and removed the mask so slowly, revealing the most beautiful man you’d ever seen. Paper white skin with delicately carved features, those red eyes peering at you with such interest. His face was pale and cold to the touch, pink lips thin and soft. It was as though he’d been carved from white stone and brought to life, pink lips pulling into a smile as the mask slipped to the marbled floors with a clatter that echoed through the empty room.
Slowly falling to your knees, you knelt before him and watched as he took your gloved arm in his hand once more.
Cold lips kissed through the deep red silk, an icy line traveling from the crook of your arm and down, down, down. Every kiss made you shudder and sigh, a strange feeling blooming in your heart. Down, down, down he kissed until those pale lips met the back of your hand.
Sighing softly, red eyes looked at you from beneath fluttering lashes.
“Yes..yes, I see now…”
Another kiss, followed by more.
The back your your hand and the palm too, every finger, every soft line was kissed so sweetly and thought you could not help but crave more…but some part of you twisted in terror, shivering as he smiled into the cold kiss.
A clock rung out suddenly somewhere in the city, loud screams ringing out into the night. And, as though you had been awoken from some strange dream, you pulled away from the stranger’s embrace with a small scream. Go! You had to go now! Gathering your skirts, you turned and ran down the steps as he called after you. But before any real escape could be found, you tumbled to the cold floors, a single shoe having slipped away from your foot and sent you falling, falling, falling…but you never truly fell.
He caught you.
Thin but impossibly strong arms wrapped around your waist as he pulled you back into his embrace, holding you tight against his chest.
“There, there, my heart!” His whispered in your ear, a cold smile pressed to your neck.
A shuddering sigh fell from your lips as he kissed your neck carefully, teeth grazing the goose-bumped flesh softly. Laying you upon the marbled floors, you felt as you were in a sea of scarlet, drowning in terror and gasping for breath. He leaned over you, strands of long black touching your face as his smiled down at your shivering form.
“There’s no need to be frightened of me.”
Once more, your heart began to beat and beat, blood running cold through your veins. And once more he became excited!
“I will never allow any harm to come you! No, no, my dear heart, I’ll protect you…I will adore you!”
Red eyes grew wide and bright and wild, an almost animal like hunger taking over his pretty face. His smile became sharp and wicked, long teeth revealing themselves as deadly fangs. And like the hungry wolf ready to devour the little lamb, he attacked with a final cry.
“I will make you mine!”
A scream echoed through Volterra that night.
Perhaps someone heard it. A dreaming dancer, a slumbering mortal, a monster hunting through the red night…but no one came.
No one ever would!
Poor little Y/N would never be seen or heard from again.
And when she awoke from painful dreams, red eyed and cold hearted, she would never be the same. No, no, never! As Aro took his bride into his arms and carried her into the depths of the castle, he knew exactly what she would be:
A beautiful queen, a perfect creature, and his!
I have to leave because I lost my password, ill be back in a second, if I don't see you again I hope you have a good day
one time this nondescript guy came into my dunkin donuts and ordered a small black coffee with blueberry flavor shot, and for some reason that peculiar order stuck with me so much that when, seven months later, i saw him in the parking lot walking towards the door, i quickly made a small black coffee with blueberry flavor shot. he ordered it and i was already holding it.
i would describe his demeanor that second time as “incredulous”
What the fuck who drinks that
it’s such a perfectly bonkers order because like, most unusual orders are maximalist and sugary but this one just combines the most basic drink with the most incongruous little add-on. it’s the order of a simple, regular man who has something wrong with him
this post always makes me laugh. this guy has the weirdest drink order and he probably never goes to this dunkin’ if it took seven months for the barista to see him again. so think about a coffee shop you go to so little you’re not even sure if you’ve gone there before and you walk in and the barista hands you the drink you were about to order before you even ordered it. he will remember that for the rest of his life
“it’s the order of a simple, regular man who has something wrong with him” gets me every time.
World Heritage Post
tragic. 37 clowns were killed today in a devastating one car pile up.
I'm girlbossing my way through this crisis the way God intended, stop recommending I take medication.
