Getting pissed off at an author for occasionally using uncommon/long/archaic words is so silly, especially in the modern day where you can easily type that word into a search engine to find it’s meaning. There is a stark difference between a writer leaning into purple prose and a writer with a large vocabulary occasionally utilizing words you have not previously encountered.

I personally love discovering a new word while reading, it’s like receiving a new tool for my toolbox. That is part of the reason I like vintage & classic literature, there are between 200,000-1,000,000 words in the English language and we’ve forgotten some very good words.

Just something about kissing the tip of a pen to paper, and writing. Everything gains so much more clarity than when writing upon a keyboard, as the pen makes you think ever so carefully when writing a word, a phrase, a sentence.

Just something about the power a pen and a paper holds. Signatures, speeches, contracts all signed with a flourish of a hand.

Just something about the delicacy a pen and paper holds. A simple tear, a drop of liquid, and so much is lost.

There is just something so, so sacred about writing, and so, one should never abandon the skill to think, to believe, and to worship the holiness of a pen.

Use the keyboard, but also, use the pen, for all knowledge began with a thought and a scrawl of ink on paper.

I'm so tired of reading books where the romance is either lust or insta-love. Worst case: both.

It's not that "love at first sight" is a horrible thing. It's the fact that there's no build up to the romance. There's no substance to it, no tension. In fact, so much of the "tension" is one-sided.

And don't get me started on lust. I've read so many books where there IS love, but there's more lust. Because why do we have more scenes of them having sex or pleasuring each other, than scenes where they connect and share non-sexual intimacy?

Like, I don't mind the occasional smut, but please, let there be romance. Let there be LOVE, not lust. Let me see them laugh, let me see them hug and kiss.

As much as I adore the tropes "Enemies/ Rivals/ Hate/ Forbidden to Lovers", I occasionally read books where the tropes are more realistic ones, and adore them also in the same capacity.

It is only now that I realise, that when I read and find romance tropes wonderful, I find them so because of the genuine love the lovers share.

It is not because they would destroy the world for the other, or kill for the other, or die for the other, but because they would love the other truly, and genuinely.

While the "Enemies/ Rivals/ Hate/ Forbidden to Lovers" tropes have an extremely special place in my heart due to the tension and conflict, I will gobble a book that has any--any love trope, as long as the characters love each other truly.

Reading is something ethereal. I don't think many people take this into consideration and take reading for granted.

It's fascinating how someone introduced the writing system as a means for communication, and over time, it has developed to introduce so many worlds.

I utterly adore it when the couples in any book would go to hell and back for each other. Give me couples who would destroy everything and themselves for each other. Give me couples who sacrifice everything for each other.

Give me couples who irrevocably, incontestably love each other.
