Hi! There’s not been a lot of updates here so with applications closing today, I wanted to make sure this project was still happening! Will we still hear app results around the 5th of September?

Unfortunately, despite previous interest, this zine has not gained the traction needed and we only have eleven applicants, only four of which are writers. I truly want to make this work, but it seems that without some fandom “giants” to help with publicity, this zine will simply not work out.
We hope to revisit this project in the future if there is enough interest. It’s truly disappointing to have to lay this idea to rest for now, but hopefully one day we will be back and better than ever.
Contributor applications are officially open through August 25! There will be a bit of a grace period to ensure that everyone in ever time zone gets the full last day.
Please read the questions and requirements carefully. Feel free to ask anything; there are no stupid questions here!

hi! i know this ship is intended to be VLD-specific, but would you be open to other iterations of voltron? like ships from Beast King GoLion/DoTU, comics, etc? Also, I saw Sendak ships aren't allowed, but what about other galra/alien ships? Like Keith/Regris, Shiro/Ulaz, Ulaz/Thace, Keith/Rolo, Shiro/Slav, Kolivan/Antok, etc? thanks!

we will be keeping this zine to just Legendary Defender, sorry. if there is enough interest, maybe there will be other zines in the future that are more open to the other voltron iterations!
as for the ships, all of those are fine, yes! the issue with sendak ships isn't that he's nonhuman, it's got more to do with the senseless colonization and torture and abuse, yknow?

Q: Will this zine be for charity or for profit?
A: This zine is not anticipated to make much money; the goal here is breaking even. We want to keep this as accessible as possible! That being said, if there is any money made off this zine, it will be going to a charity, likely something like e-sims or aid supporting Palestine, Sudan, or Congo.

Applications will close after today, and then there will be a couple of days (probably two, three max) until emails are sent out. Chances are, if you applied for a mod position, you will be accepted 😅 This is anticipated to be a pretty small zine, so near everyone will be welcome :)

Why are some of the ships omitted?
Hi! Thanks for your question. As per the guidelines posted in our Info Post, we will not be including ships with large age gaps or ships such as Shiro/Sendak.
While Pidge’s age is a point of contention within the fandom, we will be operating under the assumption that she is about 14 in the beginning of the series while the others are 17-18. Thus, we will not be including Pidge/Paladin ships.
Allura is a teenager and thus will not be shipped with adults significantly older than her in this zine.
We are operating under the assumption that Matt is about Shiro’s age, placing him in his early to mid twenties. Because of this, we will not be shipping him with Lance, who is a teenager of about seventeen years old.
Q: How much time would I be required to dedicate as a moderator? A: Only as much as you are able! Everyone has their own lives, and we don't want to refuse good help just because someone wouldn't be able to provide it 24/7.
Q: I'm a minor. Is it still okay to apply as a moderator or contributor? A: Yes! For contributors, we ask that you be at least fourteen to apply. We'd like our mods to be a little older than that, but feel free to apply regardless! Again, we can use all the help we can get.

We will aim for ten writers and artists to work with them, or more if the applications allow. Hopefully, we will have enough merch artists for at least some keychains and stickers! So far, there have been six responses to the moderator form.
Because of the portion of people with only about ten USD to spend, we will do our best to keep the zine booklet itself and hopefully one merch item to a combined price of less than ten dollars.
This zine will therefore not have a theme. Canon divergence and some AUs will be allowed (e.g. "Avatar AU" will not, but "Modern with magic" would be.)
