Just saw Broke His Crown for the first time, and like... ???
I mean, obviously, I know they end up together and that there is subtext about their relationship throughout the show, but- subtext??
What straight explanation is there supposed to be? It's literally Marceline bringing her girlfriend to meet her dad? They hold hands?? M wipes PB's face with her thumb???
Simon: "So, you got a boyfriend yet?" - cut to wider shot with PB for literally no reason - ????
Helloo! I love your artwork so much itās so soft š„¹ I wanted to ask if you had any tips/tricks for an artist starting to learn anatomy itās been ROUGH for me :(
Hello. Thank you for your wonderful compliment!š„¹š„¹š„¹
I never went to art school myself. Therefore, I can only offer tips that have helped me. I hope they help you too.
If you have the opportunity, you should attend life drawing events. Unfortunately, these are rarely offered in my city, and when they are, they are very expensive. I then came across online platforms where you can create your own life drawing lessons. I like to use Line of Action or @adorkastock because they are free.
Practice drawing figures, animals, landscapes and more
A web based app for gesture drawing, figure practice and general sketching.
Start with short intervals, such as 30 seconds or 1 minute per pose. This will help you focus on the essentials and develop a good sense of proportion. You can also practice many poses in a short amount of time.
The sketches will look a bit odd at first, of course. But that's okay. You can leave out hands, feet, and faces for now, or simplify them. You can also focus on silhouettes, contours, or rough body shapes. A large piece of chalk, a crayon, or a thick brush can also help you concentrate on the body shapes.
I made some "ugly sketchbooks" for these exercises. It's always a cheap or old sketchbook. It helps me reduce the pressure and let go of perfectionism.
Later you can set longer intervals (2 or 5 minutes) to go into more detail. If you notice that you repeatedly have difficulties with certain body parts, make notes. Then you can look them up in an anatomy book later and practice them separately. I use this book for that:
Anatomy: A Complete Guide for Artists : Sheppard, Joseph: Amazon.de: Bücher
It is an older book, which is why it is good to buy it secondhand or borrow it from libraries.
I try to do these life drawing exercises twice a week. But, I've heard from art students that life drawing is practiced every day at art schools. I think it's very powerful if you do it regularly.
I hope I was able to help you a little.
this scene from the goes wrong showĀ where they cast two different people as the head and hunky, semi-nude body of the same character during a live theatre production haunts my every waking moment
Now THIS is physical comedy
ok this is the best thing i've ever ever ever seen everyone watch immediately
I had to look this up; the kid's name is Olly Pearson, and he's from Wales! He is 11 (!) years old and was on Britain's Got Talent this year. (He finished fourth.) He's on YouTube as Guitar Olly.
The lead singer is Mickey Callisto (he took his stage last name from one of the moons of Jupiter), who was also on BGT. (He made it to the semi-finals.) He's from Sunderland in the UK.
The trio in the window are DDKN, a group from France. I can't add fun facts here because duckduckgo gave me nothing. Rude honestly.
The flashmob video on youtube is mostly the same as the tiktok but it's still fun to watch bigger.
And now you know. the rest. of the story.
I started listening to the cree radio station because its the only one left in my range that doesnt play alberta separatist ads now and those make me see red like some sort of bull, which is not safe while im behind the wheel of a vehicle going 110
Why haven't they told me about the cree all-purpose radio station sooner. They play everything from the 50s to today. Half of their ads and one of their shows is in cree which I do not speak a lick of but thats fine, they play banger music. They give me local news updates that arent dripping with UCP cocksucking. They tell me about things that affect a demographic I otherwise hear very little about by virtue of being a white guy in alberta.
We are holding hands. We are learning about other cultures. We are listening to 60s rock and roll and then an elder will tell us stories about his youth. I am enamored. I am in love.
Lots of people in the notes have asked me to drop the radio station im talking about here. If youre in the Edmonton area the frequency is 89.3, and when we went on a trip recently we got pretty reliable signal all the way to Ponoka. If youre outside of it or international you can get the live broadcast at ravenradio.ca
They also have a retro hour at noon every day and do language lessons for allies
Playing a little bit of everything from the 50's to Today! Alberta's Best Rock

So, I used to take a lot of drawing classes when I was a kid, but then I just kind of stopped. Recently, for the first time in years, I got the urge to draw something and was quite disappointed to find that all the muscle memory has left me š„².
So... I'm going back to basics! I'm loosely following Michael Markowsky's stream vod's (they seem great, highly recommend). I will use this block to track my progress and hope that posting here will prevent me from quitting in less then a week š.
Wish me luck š.
Enjoyed it thus far, practicing drawing shapes is kind of nostalgic.
Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this š
And this gem š
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
šŗHere is my list:
Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)
Aaron Rutten (free, tips about art, talks about art programs and the best products for digital art)
BoroCG (free, teaches a verity of art mediums from 3D modeling to digital painting. As well as some tips that can be used across styles)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free, teaches digital painting and has classes in Spanish)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price. Mostly teaching character designs and simple backgrounds.)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney. Mostly nature art)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Sinix Design (has some tips on drawing people)
Winged canvas (art school for free on a verity of mediums)
Bob Ross (just a good time, learn how to paint, as well as how too relax when doing art. "there are no mistakes only happy accidents", this channel also provides tips from another artist)
Scott Christian Sava (Inspiration and provides tips and advice)
Pikat (art advice and critiques)
Drawbox (a suggested cheap online art school, made of a community of artist)
Skillshare (A cheap learning site that has art classes ranging from traditional to digital. As well as Animation and tutorials on art programs. All under one price, in the USA it's around $34 a month)
Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
šHere is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
šAs for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
š»As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)
Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)
IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)
Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)
NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
"also apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, I have Dyslexia and it makes my brain go XP when it comes to speech or writing"
Boosting this in case any of the programs and books suggested are useful.
All the photos on this tumblr ad the animal photo reference site I run is another resource available for artists to use!
As long as youāre not using AI to create your art, you can reference / trace / draw / recombine / make any sort of art you want, with any of the photos, for free.
There's also MORPHO, a really good book series on anatomy by Michel Lauricella, with very clear explanations and sketches!
And for pose references, there's @adorkastock who shares a ton of them for free, with different models and props, and her website is amazing <3 you can also buy pose packs from her.
for those who donāt remember, āmole interestā was an experiment I did 2 years ago because I wanted to test what causes tags to go trending on tumblr. My hypothesis was that all it takes is one (1) post blowing up in an established tag to make the entire tag trend.
I had randomly generated 2 words, which is where āmole interestā came from. I failed to consider that by generating a new tag, it wouldnāt have had enough posts already in it to prove what I now call āthe mole interest effectā.
But now it does.
In 2023, we said āfuck itā a la mythbusters and ended up doing whatever it took to get #mole interest to trend. And it did. And it happened to be September 11th that day, and we managed to get #mole interest to trend ABOVE #9/11.
So, in the name of science, I ask you to reblog just this post. Letās put the mole interest effect to the test.

do i have strong negative feelings towards celine because of the way she raised rumi and trained huntrix and messed them all up? yes. do i understand that she was probably trained the same way and is an immensely complex character? also yes.
y'all ask for complex women and then can't handle them when they come. yes, celine really messed up the girls and that's not something to just be ignored or glazed over. but understanding that there's more to her is so important.
I totally understand why people react the way they do to Celine. At the same time Iām absolutely losing it 100% of the time for Celine as a character.
Because if weāre being real, Rumi represents an incredible threat, potentially endangering billions of people if the Honmoon protecting the entire globe is accurate. Sheās shown to have an unusual ability to shotgun blast the Honmoon with her voice in a way we donāt even really see from the Saja Boys who are actively trying to tear it down.
Reminder that Celine had no way of knowing what Rumi would grow up to be, or what kind of danger she may represent as she aged. Reminder that Celine has a responsibility that extends far, far beyond herself and her own interests.
With this in mind Celine keeping Rumi alive after she realizes sheās a demon is batshit insane. Imagine the guilt of not being able to go through with killing a child, then the horror of realizing that you even feel guilty about that. Loop on repeat. The womanās brain was probably a torment nexus for 20+ years.
Of course we can assume that Celine is simply a monster who is keeping Rumi alive out of some misplaced guilt⦠OR⦠There is a far more interesting alternative.
Celine has only one thing left: Rumi, her best friendās child and her daughter in everything but name. Acknowledging that Rumi is a demon puts Celine in an impossible position. Rumi is too dangerous to live. She is too precious to die. So Celine lies to herself in every way she can, because the alternative would destroy them both.
Then Rumi shows up in the middle of the Honmoon tearing apart at the seams and asks Celine to kill her as if she would ever be able to make that choice. As if Celine hasnāt actively taken every measure to deny that choice every day of Rumiās life. As if Celine doesnāt love Rumi. Thatās what Celineās child believes that she is capable of doing.
Iām not saying every choice the woman made was justified but goddamn I wouldnāt have been at my best either.
I think all the time about Celine just endlessly erasing her lines in the sand. Compromising and compromising and compromising because she canāt do it! She wonāt!
I think a lot about the fucking tragedy of Rumi believing sheās disposable enough to put down like a rabid dog.
Meanwhile Celine is throwing away all dignity and all her principles, scrambling for any shred of hope. She sees herself as being weak for this. She sees herself exactly as we see her in that scene - a cringing, pathetic coward. My personal theory is that if Celine were close enough to fall under the Saja Boys spell she would hear: Even your own child sees what you are.
Like Iām endlessly chasing my own tail about Celine loving so hard that she breaks herself with it.
A bunch of disasters (affectionate)
All they do is worry about you

The 2025 Gender Census is now open!
[ Link to survey ]
The 12th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is nowĀ open until 30th August 2025.
Itās short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.
After the survey is closed Iāll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like weāre part of a huge and diverse community.
If you think you might have friends and followers whoād be interested, please do reblog this blog post, and share the survey URL by email or at AFK social groups or on other social networks. Every share is extremely helpful!
Survey URL: https://survey.gendercensus.com
The survey is open to anyone anywhere who speaks English and feels that the gender binary doesnāt fully describe their experience of themselves and their gender(s) or lack thereof.
If you can't wait for survey numbers, you can click here for a public spreadsheet of non-secret info with graphs as it comes in, updated manually a few times per day.
Thank you so much!
[ Link to survey ]
It's been about 7 hours and there are now over 4,000 responses! Reblogging with that nice update, and to catch people in a different timezone, and also to show off the traditional public participation spreadsheet of non-secret data, which I plan to update a few times per day.
And now it is midnight and I should go to sleep. :D
Tomorrow I will hopefully be able to send the press release out to a few niche LGBTQ+ publications. This is my latest step in the ongoing mission to bring in as many different kinds of people as possible.
Edit: During its busiest hour so far, the survey was getting about 16 responses per minute - one every 3.8 seconds. Whaaaaaaaaaat
