umm hi friends,
it’s been a while but hi i’m back

Bridgerton inspired AU THREAD
@uplandia·
Lillian sat silently as her elder brothers stares bore into her, “You two are being quite irrational, you claim to only want the best for me, and a Duke such as Hinton is undoubtedly the best a girl of my character and status could get”
“Lil, you know our families history with the Hintons-“
“Then isn’t it quite perfect to form an alliance” the girl retorted rolling her eyes. In reality she loathed the man, he seemed to know exactly how to push her buttons. But it was a mutually beneficial idea, it’d get swooning women off of his back, and bring attention back to her after her brothers managed to ruined her debut. How they got on her nerves, “I don’t have the freedom as you do to do what you like, you have already postponed by debut so long that I barely have any time left to find a decent suitor” At 21, Lillian was several years older than when her sisters had each began finding a suitor, at 18 and 19.
“What was this about marrying for love you used to speak of”
“You two ruined any chance I had at that,” she snapped back, “Ted isn’t as bad as you two make him out to be anyway,” she sighed before turning as a suitor was announced, straightening her back.
ted eyed where lillian was standing with her brothers. from his distance, he couldn’t quite hear what they were chatting about, though he presumed it was about the engagement that he and lillian had come up with a few hours ago. although they wanted nothing to do with each other upon their first meeting, they realized that the two of them had something the other one wanted. ted wanted to end the constant meeting with women to possibly marry, and lillian wanted to get her brothers off her back.
as the last suitor was announced, the band started back up, and ted dared make his way to where lillian and her brothers were standing. after all, there was no act if he didn’t dance with lillian at every ball. people had to know that he was taken.
“ may I have this dance, lady barrow ? ” he asked, kissing the back of her hand with a smirk.
lillian raised an eyebrow at his act nodding softly, “i would be delighted”sparing one last glance at her noticeably stiff brothers, she took his arm and let herself be led by the man.
despite being declared ‘the diamond of the season’, she loathed these events, she hated being paraded around like an animal in order to find a husband, but what else could she do. she cared about her family immensely and she could only imagine the stain it would leave on their reputation if she was anything but perfect, she remembered her sisters’ dismay when they were not declared the diamond of the season, so she knew she couldn’t ruin her chances, however her brothers seemed to do it for her, leaving her with the man she disliked the most as her only option.
despite her dislike for the man, she couldn’t help but feel oddly comforted by his presence. something inside her seemed to flutter at his small motions, even though she tried to remind herself it was all an act, but something about being by his side, being the sole focus of him felt right. she felt as if she fit right beside him as a matching piece of a puzzle. he was relatively taller than her, his stature also broader than her, and he did everything with a certain kind of firmness that made her feel protected in a way, she knew no one would dare speak illy about her, at least in his presence.

NEW OC MUSE - CLARA BARROW
Go check out her verses and interact with her!!!!
London-based student Lewis Hornby is a grandson on a mission. When he noticed that his dementia-afflicted grandmother was having trouble staying hydrated, he came up with Jelly Drops—bite-sized pods of edible water that look just like tasty treats.
Each of these colorful “candies” is made up of mostly water, with gelling agents and electrolytes making up just 10% of their composition. Available in a rainbow of colors and presented in packaging reminiscent of a box of chocolates, Jelly Drops are an easy and engaging way to avoid dehydration—a common problem for those suffering from degenerative neurological diseases.
“It is very easy for people with dementia to become dehydrated,” he explains. “Many no longer feel thirst, don’t know how to quench thirst, or don’t have the dexterity to drink.” With this in mind, Hornby set out to find a solution. In addition to seeking advice from psychologists and doctors, he opted to “experience” life with dementia himself through the use of virtual reality tools and a week in a care home.
Once he was familiar with what dementia patients need, he brainstormed what they want. “From my observations, people with dementia find eating much easier than drinking. Even still, it can be difficult to engage and encourage them to eat. I found the best way to overcome this is to offer them a treat! This format excites people with dementia, they instantly recognize it and know how to interact with it.”
Case in point? Hornby’s own grandmother’s reaction: “When first offered, grandma ate seven Jelly Drops in 10 minutes, the equivalent to a cup full of water—something that would usually take hours and require much more assistance.”
@thebibliosphere
What a fantastic helper.
First of all, this is an amazing invention.
Second of all, I’d like to remind everyone that Jell-o counts as a fluid.
That is, many doctors prescript Jell-o, and Gelatin treats to children and adults who, for whatever reason, have trouble keeping hydrated. Maybe they have jaw issues. Maybe dementia, or they are on a fluid-only diet and drinking broth for weeks is mind-boggling boring.
Jell-o brand in particular has a lot of sugar added to the packets, however it’s quite straightforward to buy plain gelatin and make low-sugar jelly blobs to snack on for that sweet fruit-pop of hydration.
Soo~ Here we goooo~
2 cups juice – Orange juice, grape juice, whatever you want. Fuck, you could even use your favorite blend of tea, or coffee (though coffee, in my experience, needs a little more gelatin to set properly)
Low heat until juice is hot, but before it starts to boil – once you see a bit of bubbles rising, add 2 tablespoons gelatin, and stir gelatin into hot juice until totally dissolved.
Turn off heat
Add another cup and a half of juice (or whatever), stir for another minute or so, then pour into a mold.
You could pour it into ice cube trays, a Tupperware container, or any sort of silicone candy mold.
Cover it, stick in the fridge overnight, and viola~
Bite-sized taste snacks, full of water.
Gelatin is broken down very easily and put to use once in your gut, so it’s fine to eat loads of it, and otherwise you’re just taking mouthfuls of juice… or tea or whatever.
If you want it a bit more sweet, feel free to add sugar or honey to your hot juice… or hot…whatever…
I was pondering about the guy’s electrolytes worked and now I’m paralyzed with the idea of turning Gatorade into jell-o.
Don’t use pineapple juice for this!!! The enzymes break down the gelatin and you’ll be left with soup.
Right on, forgot about that! Kiwi, Pineapple, Figs, Ginger, Guava, and Papaya have an enzyme that flips the bird to gelatin.
Apple, Grape, Strawberries, Orange, Cherries, Blueberries, Blackberries, Lemons, Peaches, Raspberries, and Cranberries all make great gelatin snacks, though.
i firmly believe that information like this needs to be shared, especially in any situation where the future is brought into question. as someone who’s grandfather had advanced dementia, i know first hand how difficult and devastating this can be.
seeing inventions like this come into existence is uplifting!

reblogging for both this amazing inventor’s story, and for the DIY alternative that anyone who struggles with hydration needs can utilize.
Oooo I should try this! It is such an uphill battle for me to stay hydrated throughout the day, and I do love fruit treats.

Lillian jumped as the door of her room flew open without warning, letting out a squeak of surprise before meeting eyes with the person who had entered. “Clyde!” She screamed immediately pausing her lecture and pulling out her earbuds, practically tripping over her own feet as she ran towards him wrapping her arms around his neck tightly. She was about to say something to her brother when she caught a glimpse of the boy standing behind her brother. She had to keep herself from gasping. Clyde had told her his roommate would be staying in her room, but Clyde hadn’t mentioned he was hot. She let Clyde go and took several steps towards the other boy “Lillian Barrow!” She stuck out her hand before realizing he probably wouldn’t want to shake hands with a person he had just met especially with everything going on. “I-i promise my hands are clean” she awkwardly chuckled, “I’ve been home for several weeks and haven’t left the house!”. She glanced at Clyde, catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror past him and internally cringing. Her hair was pulled up in a messy bun and not a cute one, just one she had done to get the hair out of her face instead of her normal contacts she had settled for her glasses, a choice she now regret, as a combination with her oversized school sweatshirt and shorts she was sure she looked like a complete mess to him. “I’m so sorry, I promise I don’t normally look like this, especially not when first meeting people, Clyde just never told me when he was coming,” she glared at her brother.
ted watched lillian ramble on and on in an organized way. he bit his lip to keep himself from smiling at her. she was cute. “ i’m ted. it’s nice to meet you. ” he said simply, after her whole speech had finished. “ well, the feeling’s mutual as clyde didn’t tell me he had a sister. ” he had mentioned his older brother plenty of times, but failed to rely the information that there was a younger sibling in his household.
“Clyde” she whined, “I’m so sorry Ted you’d think he’d care to mention his favorite sibling” she teased. She glanced back at the room behind her letting out a nervous laugh. Several of her textbooks and notes were on his bed as the desk she had been using was on what was to become his side of the room. “I’m so sorry, as I said Clyde didn’t tell me you were coming today” she rushed to pick textbooks off his bed. “I promise you I’m not usually this messy I just had a bunch of finals, my school does them at an odd time but I’ve been super disorganized” she quickly started to push each textbook into its designated place in the bookcase besides in between their beds, “I’ll move my stuff off that desk too onto the one on my side” She grabbed the notebooks she had also left on the bed and piled them up on top, “You can put your textbooks and notebooks on your side of the bookcase, my stuff takes up a good portion of the space so if you need more just let me know and I’m sure I can find somewhere else to put some of the ones I use less often. I’m just not to used to having other people in my room, I mean at school I have had a single for the past few years and this room, I used to share it with Nellie, it was her and Artie’s room before Artie moved out, and then I moved in but Nellie moved out a bit ago so.” She paused “actually you probably don’t care about any of that I-“ She looked up to see Clyde with an eyebrow raised at her,
“Y’now people are really going to start thinking you’re the messy sibling Lil”
“Oh shut up” she retorted with a fake glare.
clara
“Don’t you fucking touch me” she immediately snapped shoving him off defensively, “I’m fine” the she spat, despite everything about her that was clearly showing otherwise. She could feel her body shaking more and she just hoped it wasn’t noticeable. “This is some sick fucking joke, you can give it up now, I’m not going to tell you any more fucking information even if you pretend your my dad” she backed up more away from him until her back and head hit the wall again resulting in a quiet whimper from her. She wouldn’t let herself look at him out of fear that he could see through the show she was putting on, “Even if you were my dad don’t fucking think I’d treat you any differently than every other pig in this goddamn place”.
ted’s hands were off of clara the moment she pronounced that she didn’t want any comfort. though he was worried about a bump surely forming on her head, he didn’t want to push anything while she was in this hysterical state. she’d calm down later and then maybe he could do something about her injury. “ it’s not a joke, clara. i know that it’s hard to hear that the man who raised you isn’t actually your birth father, but it’s the truth. and i’m sorry that i was never there for you as your real father. i should have been.” ted wondered how much different clara’s life would be if he had been told that bonnie was pregnant with his kid.
Clara refused to look him in the eye, she didn’t dare speak for fear that her voice would give her away. She just hoped he wasn’t paying attention to the obvious trembling of her body. When she thought of it the man certainly shared more similarities to her than Clyde, at least appearance wise. Not as much as she shared with her mother, she prided herself on the similarities she shared with her mom, which was most of her appearance. And this man infront of her, he looked the part of being her father.
“This doesn’t change a thing” she finally mustered up the courage to speak although the words came out choked and shaky. “I’m a Barrow, not a Hinton.”
GENERAL
“Can you walk?”
“How did this happen?”
“What the hell happened?”
“I hit my head.”
“Did you hit your head?”
“Can you hear me?”
“Don’t close your eyes, stay awake!”
“Come on, stay with me!”
“No no no no no!”
“You shot me!”
“I didn’t mean to shoot you!”
“You stabbed me!”
“I didn’t mean to stab you!”
“Take the knife out!”
“Don’t take the knife out!”
“It was an accident!”
“That/this wasn’t an accident!”
“That looks broken.”
“I think my leg/arm is broken.”
“That doesn’t look good.”
“Am I going to die?”
“You’re not going to die!”
“Calm down!”
“Don’t panic!”
“I can’t help you if you don’t let me!”
BLOOD
“Are you bleeding?”
“Don’t move, you’re bleeding.”
“Is that blood?”
“Whose blood is that?”
“That’s a lot of blood.”
“Do you know how to get bloodstains out?”
“Why do you know how to get bloodstains out?”
“Damn, I got blood on my shirt.”
“Don’t move, you’re losing blood!”
“I won’t let you bleed out!”
“You have blood on your face.”
“I swear to god, if you get blood on me…”
“What’s your blood type?”
“Why in the hell would you need to know my blood type?”
WOUNDS
“That cut is nasty.”
“You have a massive gash in your arm/leg!’
“Don’t touch it!”
“Don’t move, you’ll only make it worse!”
“I’ll get some bandages.”
“You’re going to need stitches.”
“That looks infected…”
“Did you get bit by something?”
“There’s no exit wound, the bullet is still in you.”
“There’s an exit wound, the bullet went through you.”
AFTERCARE
“How are you feeling?”
“How does it feel?”
“It’s still not healed, but it’s getting there.”
“Let’s go home.”
“I just want to go home.”
“Let’s get you into the bathtub.”
“We need to change your bandages soon.”
“Get some sleep, okay?”
“You need to eat something, you’ve been through a lot today.”
“I’ll check up on you in a bit.”
“You’re going to be fine. I promise.”
clara
“no no no no no,” she was practically begging him at this point, “there must be a mistake. clyde’s my dad, he’s my best friend, there’s no way,” Clara had always been a daddy’s girl, to have to face the reality of him not actually being her father terrified her. hell, she didn’t get along with her mom nearly as well as she did with clyde. “Especially not you” she spat backing up from him, trying to wipe the tears away from her eyes before he could see them. she didn’t care if he was her ‘father’, she rarely let anyone see her in a state like this. She felt her knees buckle from under her suddenly as she slipped backwards, letting herself land on the ground, but not without her head hitting the wall creating a thud.
“ clara ! ” almost out of fatherly instinct, ted was at her side in an instant. his hand was pressed against her hair, feeling around tenderly for a bump where she had hit her head. “ are you okay ? ” he asked, gently, recognizing that she still probably didn’t want her touching him. considering she was almost a clone copy of clyde, he wouldn’t be surprised if she yelled at him, or pushed him back for even daring to lay a hand on her.
“Don’t you fucking touch me” she immediately snapped shoving him off defensively, “I’m fine” the she spat, despite everything about her that was clearly showing otherwise. Clara let out a laugh as she heard the man’s words, “haha funny joke,” she glanced down at the paper, “they obviously came back as Bonnie Parker and Cly-” her voice trailed off as she read the results on the paper. She let out an awkward laugh, “there must’ve been some mistake, I’m a Barrow,” she looked the man dead in the eye and tried to ignore the similarities between them that were becoming more apparent, “I-i mean there’s absolutely no way.” Clara could feel herself shaking, “This can’t be right, there must’ve been something wrong with the system I’ve always been my father’s kid, I-i’m his mini me for God’s sake, we act the same we-” Clara stopped herself before she remarked that her and her father looked similar. The only thing she had been able to pick out of her appearance that made her similar to her father was always her hair, it’s color at least. But the man that stood infront of her had the same color, and the curls. The one thing she could never figure out, no one in her mom or clyde’s family had curly or even slightly wavy hair, she figured it was just a recessive gene that hadn’t made an appearance in a while. In a moment Clara grabbed the paper and, crumpling it up, shoved it into the officers chest. “Tell your officers, to re-run the test. They got it wrong.” her voice was shaking and she could feel tears brimming her eyes but she tried to fight back the thoughts of there being any validity to this sheet of paper.
ted wasn’t surprised when clara acted out of the anger and sadness she felt. being raised for 16 years by a man who wasn’t even her father. hell, ted was never upset for the same reason. if he knew he had a child, he would have been there for her, to stop her from being raised by someone as reckless as clyde. “ dna tests don’t come back wrong. your mother and i had an affair before she was dating clyde, and i guess we weren’t as careful as we had thought we were. ”
Clara raised an eyebrow as the officers walked through the door, “Awww, long time no see, I almost missed you,” she remarked kicking her legs onto the desk in front of her and crossing them. She kept herself from shuddering under the glares she felt. It was her nature to get herself into these situations, but she never was as strong as the facade she put on. She had taken the advice of her father that any hint of weakness would only encourage the abuse and pain that the officers seemed so eager to put her through, but she was nowhere as fearless as he always seemed in these situations, at least the ones she’d seen. “Did you have fun running your little special test through your fancy system” she laughed sardonically. She was nowhere near as confident as she tried to seem. The test, if it came back right, would mean that she wouldn’t be hidden anymore. She had managed for 16 years of her life to keep her identity and her parents a secret but that all was crumbling before her eyes because of some stupid mistake. “When we’re done with this whole affair I’d appreciate if someone could chaperone me to the courtyard,” she paused, eyes glancing over the officers that stood before her, “I need a smoke”.
ted’s jaw clenched. he knew why he had to be the one to break the news to clara, but the news also made him to want to throw up. “ clara.” ted didn’t bother to acknowledge her snappy remarks. he could barely focus on the sheet of paper as he placed it in front of clara. “ they gave us your dna tests results back. your real parents are bonnie parker…and me. ”
