So lately it’s come to my attention that improperly tagged fanfics have been floating around different fandoms. Including Hilda. This is a big issue because when improperly tagged it can cause a lot of distress to readers. For example a really sad, depressing, gorey fanfic tagged as fluffy, happy, and slow burn is very misleading. You may not even know what you’re reading until it’s too late. Some people may become very confused, disturbed, grossed out, etc.

Today I ran into the most atrocious fanfiction I’d ever seen. Tagged and presented as a Christmas story, I clicked on it hoping for a cute little Hilda fanfic. I saw it had a maturity warning but the way it was tagged and presented I thought it might be an accident. As soon as I laid eyes on the text I was dead wrong. It was nothing NSFW if that’s what you’re thinking, but it was horrible. I myself would rather not even discuss it’s content as it was incredibly disgusting.

So please everyone, I beg of you!

Properly tag and present your fanworks- OF ANY KIND.

It can be traumatic for younger audiences and may expose people to something they’d rather unsee.

(Originally I thought to put a screenshot of the title of what I had read that scared me so much but I didn’t want people checking it out from curiosity. Just please raise awareness to this, please!)
