hey guys I’m @ckwellsnovelist and am an amateur filmmaker who will be reviewing and talking about films on this blog!

currently this summer I hope to review heath ledger’s entire filmography. My letterboxd top four has always included a great heath ledger film, A Knight’s Tale leading me to consider Heath to be one of my favorite actors (10 things I hate about you is another 5 star film) from these two films alone. So I’ve decided to dive more into his work. That’s just what to expect for the near future!

See the thing about Stratt putting all media ever in the Hail Mary is that it isn’t just for lolz or to keep the crew entertained, it always struck me as something deeply sad. Because even if all the crew survived, there was no way they could consume all possible media ever, language barriers alone would present a problem. And even then, they had a job to do and focus on first (which could have theoretically taken decades of work to figure out) so they wouldn’t have much use for The Great Gatsby or a week’s worth of poorly written amateur Guatemalan experimental opera. Let us remember that Stratt is practical and true utilitarian Instead, I think it was another part of the Hail Mary. If the scientists failed, if the Earth died, then what? Everything would have been completely lost. Art, music, film, history. Destroyed. Without a single living soul to remember it by. It would be as if all of humanity had never existed.

But if it survived? If other alien civilizations discovered traces of humanity? Then the memory of mankind could live on and be remembered. What better way to do that than to send everything (literally everything, the art, the music, the science, the history) out as far as humanly possible so that it might connect with someone else in the universe? It would be a long shot, a Hail Mary, but it was the best chance that humanity had to be remembered

Spoilers for third rock season 5 ahead!

who the hell in the writers room decided to break up Tommy and Alisa in such a stupid way. I’d like to preface this by saying I’m very aware it’s a sitcom but comedy is one of the highest art forms in my head because it is almost a direct interpretation of life. And Tommy and Alissa’s relationship added something huge to the show. And I’m not saying that they shouldn’t have broken up because while I do believe that sometimes the writers just take the story where it needs to go. But breaking them up in such a dumb way was just so poorly written. A heartfelt conversation or anything besides just going so deep into the sitcom aspect when Tommy and Alisa added something truly incredible to the show.

Sandra Huller is much braver than me because if I was having a little karaoke moment and Ryan Gosling showed up and said "hey you gotta do that in our trillion dollar movie that everyone will see!!!" I would die. Good for her living out that y/n life though

thank you steven spielberg for creating a male and female protagonist who are the only two people of their kind on earth, who understand each other better than anyone else, "whatever you do, don't let go', who are literally DESTINED to meet each other and are literally spelled out to be goddamn soulmates and narrative foils

and not making their relationship romantic even though it would've been the easy thing to do.

Watching third rock from the sun just to get more 10 things I hate about you content and finally getting to THE episode is a great feeling.

There are movies with excellent, historically sourced and accurate costumes. There are movies that take extensive artistic liberties with historical dress and customs.

Then there’s whatever the fuck is happening with Jocelyn’s hair and wardrobe in A Knights Tale.
