WIP WEDNESDAY! (GELPHIE)

Prompt: Glinda thinks Elphaba's spirit lives in the Grimmorie after she "dies."

WIP under cut. (Very short, trying to gage interest)

Glinda watched wide-eyed as the Grimmorie fluttered open next to her. A golden hue swirled around it's pages as they fell open and Glinda felt something in her chest.

It was raw and gnawing, like hope, but far more bittersweet.

And it was familiar.

Despite all the good she had done in recent days-- welcoming the animals back to Oz and sending the Wizard and Morrible on their way--she'd only felt grief.

There'd been Fiyero--she loved him, she thought. But maybe what she loved was the idea of him. The picture perfect life of marrying a prince while being the worlds most beloved witch. That's all that had ever been expected of her. Popularity. And she had loved that vision which was now morphed beyond recognition.

She mourned the loss of the man who had been a constant in her life for the last four years. And she was the reason he was dead. She knew Fiyero had no intent on hurting her that day. She had known and had not been able to stop what happened next. Loving someone didn't mean they deserved death.

She mourned the comraderie that she had felt for him. They were the same.

Both living with grandiose expectations placed on their shoulders, both living with the burden of loving the wrong person.

Elphaba.

Oh how she mourned Elphaba--her Elphie.

The grief sat thick like a lead block in her lungs- dark, heavy, and poisonous. Nothing ever felt so world ending as losing Elphaba. And now she'd gone somewhere that Glinda couldn't follow.

Elphaba had left her again, when she promised she wouldn't.

But Glinda couldn't think about that now. She couldn't grieve right now. She had made a promise to Elphie and that was a promise she intended to keep. She would make good.

i just can't convey the frustration and sorrow that it's been to grow up at first without the internet and then watching it bloom into this useful, fun, connecting force you sometimes spent time on, only for it to degrade into this constant oppressive waste of time and energy where people are constantly pumping out algorithmically designed content for max algorithmic appeal and even the most simple search generates either no results or an infinite abyss of ai generated slop none of which is usable or correct. we briefly had a library of alexandria and then fed it into a paper shredder so advertisers could sell a random mash of pulp back to us at a premium.
