Rocking back and forth. Stratt is not cruel. Grace is not innocent. Rocky is not naive. Every member of the crew was selected for their skill. Please. Allow these multi-faceted characters their facets. Allow Stratt her coldness and utalitarianism while acknowledging that she only did what she had to and she never took any joy in it, that she was a fundamentally kind person who was driven to awful extremes by her love for the world and humanity. Allow Grace his kindness and trauma without ignoring the selfishness and fear that fueled his choice. Allow Rocky his blind spots and learning curve without disregarding his intelligence and adaptability. Allow Yao, Ilyukhina, Dubois, and Shapiro their unique personalities and quirks without neglecting that they were the astronauts chosen to savr the entire world, that they were captains and engineers and scientists so prolific they were entrusted by Eva Stratt with the fate of humanity. Please. I beg.

More starstruck? More likely than you'd think

Being Ryland Grace's student must be so much fun because of that man's lore.

There used to be this meme about how students ask their teachers personal questions to distract from the boring lesson and after the lesson ends, the students don't care anymore, but I was actually so interested in what my teachers were like outside of school. There's no way HIS little devils aren't interested in Ryland "I put up a wall up in my relationships anyway" Grace's personal life too because he's probably super professional all the time and doesn't talk about himself at all, ever.

So they google him, only to discover that he has an identical twin who sets himself on fire for money (yes, I'm talking about Coltland like it's canon, and what about it!), that he has an older brother who murdered their father and "died" in prison (yes, also talking about Coltland Gentry like it's canon), that he's had a tragic past, AND that hollywood superstar Tom Ryder is down bad for him (they found an obscure instagram post of Tom Ryder that strongly implies being about Grace, so they try to bait him into talking about it by asking what he thinks about him, and he just waves it off like "Ehhhhh he's an alright actor I guess" and Oh my god, does that mean their TEACHER has rejected TOM FREAKING RYDER?!) (Also can I just say, I love that we all agree that Tom fell first AND fell harder while Ryland is on a spectrum between "god he's so annoying I hate him" to "Oh yeah, Tom, I could date him I guess, he's cute :)")

And then, a few years later, he gets kidnapped by the government and shot into space to save the world. Like. What??

I'd be the most obnoxious person in the world if Ryland Grace had been my teacher, I'd be telling everyone about it, make one "I was Ryland Grace's student. AMA"-post after the other, try to find ways to bring it up in conversation constantly.

Colt Seavers and the no good bad day where when he arrives on set, he is immediately told the most recent rumor that apparently, THE Tom Ryder has stopped not only going to parties, but hosting them as well. Apparently, it’s also been noted he’s cut back heavily on other things as well. And honestly, Colt was just gonna blow them off as baseless rumors until he turns to the corner to head toward Ryder’s trailer, he sees the man reading on the step. But he’s not reading a script. No, it’s much worse than that.

He’s reading ‘Molecular & Cell Biology for Dummies’. The book looks worn and is full of tiny little tabs.

He’s immediately turning on his heel calling Ryland but it goes to voicemail. In a hushed voice, he leaves a voicemail as he opens the family group chat (the one named ‘NO RYRY ALLOWED’ that they’ve been using since Ryland disappeared for those few months).

“Ryland, I know you’re off playing diplomat with Rocky and Adrian and the Eridians but I REALLY need you to call me back asap. He’s reading a book about your field, Ry! I think he’s serious. Oh my god he’s got a little notebook. He’s serious. Please call me back we have to talk about this."

And just as he's about to turn the corner and continue to text his family he hears "Oh! Colt! You're here! Listen, do you know what Ryland is currenting teaching in his class? I want to get a book about it so I can talk to him about it when I call him later."

And Colt just internally screams.

Colt and Court always putting Ryland behind them, not because he's fragile or can't defend himself, but because he's completely impulsive and WILL FIGHT anyone who talks shit about his brothers.

Ryland'll put himself of his older brother when their father started to get violent. He'll start yelling and cursing those who bothered Colt.

They put him behind for a safety measure, because Ryland always put them first. He doesn't care what will be the consequences.

This just made me think of unrequited starstruck (? I think that's it?). Tom is making fun of Colt like he always does, just harassing him in their downtime when out of nowhere he feels a fist connect with his jaw. It disorients him and knocks him from where he'd been hanging on his stunt double for optimal harassment purposes onto the ground. He vaguely hears Colt giving a panicked," oh fuck- Ryland-" before he feels another punch land against his nose and he's knocked back onto his elbows, eyes watering.

It takes him a minute to get over the pain enough to open his eyes, but when he does he is instantly in love. Colt is holding his assailant by one arm with both hands, using all of his body weight to pull him back from where he's wildly waving his hand and swearing at Ryder, clearly wanting to rip himself from his twins hold to hit him again. He's awestruck by him. By the fact that he'd been so willing to hit him without any kind of hesitation, and was currently giving him a verbal lashing the likes of which Tom has never heard before in his life. He's not used to being treated like anything other than a movie star, and Grace is actively telling him that he has less worth than a paramecium (he'd have to look that up later), it instantly gives him the hots for him.

Grace hates him, just based on the fact he was calling Colt stupid when he first laid eyes on him.

Coltland AU where Grace is able to make it back to earth before everyone gets really old (wormhole or smth that’s actually scientifically possible) and Grace is now like mega famous but he’s kept his family out of the spotlight.

One day Colt announces he’s bringing his brother to set, and Tom’s being being annoying about it. Bragging how Colt’s brother will be to busy being starstruck over him to watch Colt do stunts. The rest of the crew are kinda just going along and jokingly asking Colt if he’s sure his brother can handle being around such big movie stars.

When the day arrives imagine the panic everyone feels when it isn’t some nerdy teacher that Colt talked about, but savior of the whole world Ryland Grace.

I put up a finger. “First of all, Rocky doesn’t share a head with me. He has his own head. It’s just that he’s always butting into mine.” Only because I love you. “Love you too, buddy.” “Aww, you guys are so cute.” Ilyukhina rolls onto her stomach. “Hey Rocky, did you know that Grace once accidentally called Stratt ‘mom’?” (Grace introduces Rocky to Ilyukhina. Too late, he realizes this was a mistake.)
