TBD & Timestream Idioms

We ended up on a bit of tangent the other day so here are some silly sayings to use for Time Balance Department and Timestream-related characters!

Curses/Exclamations:

"Gears grind me down." (God damn me.) "Gears of the Great Machine!" "By the hands of the First Clock!" "Flow forbid." (God forbid.) "Timestream's pockets..." / "You found this in the Timestream's pockets, didn't you?" (A curse meaning complete disaster, references Time Pockets from CROB) “Director’s scissors!” (Mild curse.) "Flow take it." (Mild curse/Can mean “I give up” in isolation.) "Rust and springs." (For heaven's sake.)

General Sayings: 

"Do I look like a standard cog to you?" (Do I look stupid to you?/Do I look like a civilian or non TBD agent?) "That's not how the mechanism turns." (That's not how that works.) "Skip a tooth." / ”I skipped a tooth in my calculations.” (Make a mistake.) "You're wound too tight." (Stressed, anxious, etc) “Let your gears cool.” (Calm down.)  "Clocked and counted." (Everything accounted for/Yes, it's done.) "May your gears stay meshed." (A blessing, like good luck or travel safe.)

Insults: 

"You must be really spinning some stripped gears in there." (Your braincells aren’t touching/you are not intelligent.)  "You sure all your gear teeth are touching?" (Are you insane?)  "I am beginning to suspect your maintenance schedule was neglected." (You sound ridiculous/What you’re saying makes no sense.)  “You skipped a century, huh?” (You weren’t paying attention/you are unintelligent.)  “Smooth-geared.” (Smooth-brained.)  “Right, and the Gold Kirin was caught.” (Incredulity, dis-belief.)  “Might as well hang a flag with your work.” (You’re acting like a time pirate.) 

Field Agent Specific: 

“Only a Time Manipulator could fix this.” (Complete disaster.)  “Looks like the Director’s work.” (Either amazing or terrible, depending on context.)  “We’ll need a fleet for that.” (Call back up.)  “Who let a cog-cat in here?” (Similar to “it looks like a tornado went off in here.”) “A universal translator couldn’t fix that sentence.” (You make no sense.) 

Historical Accuracy Division Specific: 

“You look like a Beastborn in the Dark Flour War.” (You look out of place/lost.)  “Who tailored this century?” (Who approved this?)  “Don’t pull that thread.” (Do not investigate that.)  “That’s a tangled bobbin.” (Complicated and not knowing where to start.)  “Mind your seams.” (Keep your story straight.)  “Your seams are showing.” (I can tell you’re lying/your lie has holes.)  “Don’t unpick that.” (Leave it alone.)  “You’re missing your backstitch!” (You don’t know your fundamentals.)  “Your pattern is off.” / “The original pattern didn’t look like this.” (Your time fix is incorrect.)  “This timeline has too many patches.” (You’re fixing the problems instead of addressing the root cause.)  “I can see the repair work.” (Someone meddled in history here.)  “Cross-reference?” (Where did you get that?/Citation needed.)

Lore Summary (haven’t written the full thing, prolly never will, we’ll see)

Adyarus “Mossflight” starts in a “kinder” home, Pywaln is usually busy in the town of Aylethyr, where the houses are well spaced out in the woodland area. Rumors and stories travel fast inside the town, but none ever get out of Ayethyr or to Ayethyr’s travelers. (Aka a “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” situation.) Pywaln and Valna often fight when Pywaln is home, more of a one sided argument. Valna always cared for Adyarus, even when Arasne came along. Although, late one night, when Adyarus was awake for Pywaln and Valna’s fight, Pywaln snapped, killing Valna. Ady, now terrified of his father, went and pretended nothing happened. As time passed, Pywaln only got worse at home, yelling, hitting, etc. Arasne, at the elven version of 13, ran away. Adyarus stayed for another 5-10 actual years, before running into the woods. After near-death, Pan, god of the Wild and Flocks, who helped him back to health, and trained him. Living mostly on his own, he picked up some jobs when Pan didn’t need him for any odd tasks. Eventually leaving that job, he became a party member for hire, joining parties for part of the profit made. Otherwise hanging out in the woods or taverns to make new friends, humanoid or animal!

The game treats the Miis like they’re real people and makes zero mention ever that they are not, and only ever refers to them and their POV as if they are real and you are their caretaker! While playing this honestly messed with my head pretty badly at times and made me worry a lot on if I was hurting real people/not doing enough for real people while I was playing!

I cannot imagine how much worse this would be for someone who’s unmedicated, non-dormant, or experiencing breakthrough symptoms! Do please be careful and PLEASE remember to have a way to reality check yourself while playing the game!!!

Also: If you’re not psychotic, please reblog this anyway!!! It may not seem like a big deal to you but these kinds of things are REALLY important to know for us psychotic folk in a world that is both hostile and negligent to us and our needs!!!

𓅨 How can i not make my favorite visual novel ever as a site skin when i got the skill and will to do that. There's various routes you can choose in this game so making a skin that captured all of them is impossible for me, so i'm mostly focus on one route which is The Nightmare route. Voice of the Paranoid is one of my favorite voices in the game, his constant "Heart. Lungs. Liver. Nerves." blend in with the horror element and dark atmosphere that The Nightmare brings is just so good, it's thrilling and unnerving at the same time.

Copy the code i provided in this GitHub, there is a copy button at the top right(•••) of the code box. And here if you prefer Google doc.

‌Sign to your AO3 account, after that go to "Dashboard".

‌On your "Dashboard", tap on a section called "Skins".

‌On the "Skins" page, tap on the button labelled "Create Site Skin".

‌Give your site skin a unique title, i usually use 2-4 word for the skins that i saved. IF YOUR SKIN NAME IS NOT UNIQUE, YOU CAN'T SAVE THE SKIN.

‌Paste the codes you copied from my GitHub into the "CSS" box.

‌When you're done, scroll to the bottom of the page and click a button labelled "Submit". This will save your site skin and take you to a new page where you can see the title of your skin as well as all of the code.

‌Click "My Site Skin" and you can see the skin are added, press "Use" to activate it.
