The Blink Finale

So The Blink Finale is next Friday. Friday 22nd August, Wycombe Youth Action and the media programme students, such as myself are hosting a final showcase for the 6 week programme we've done.  It has been a successful few weeks where we've learnt a lot more about the media industry. We would like to share our experiences with you on Friday. We will also include; - raffle - guess the name of the teddy - food and drink - awards presented - colouring activities for young children - local bands/dancers performing. It is at The Roundhouse in High Wycombe on St Mary's Street, HP11 2HE, from 6:30pm-8:30/45pm. No entry fee, just turn up and have a good time! Hope to see you there!

Massive thank you to the lovely Will Manning who came in and supported the students, and taught them how to do radio! It was an exciting experience for the teens to be apart of, and an experience which won't be forgotten. The group was split into two, so there could be 2 live radio sessions at Blink FM. Both went successfully and had many listeners! The teens loved their roles, from producers, to presenters, to co-presenters, to head of music and so on! A couple of them are very interested in radio as their career, so we will see what happens!

This is The Blink Effects first day, featuring Marcello Spooks! He was an excellent inspiring guest who came in for us. The students loved him and felt they could relate to him massively. Marcello gave some good advice, some key points we would like to share with you! 1) ALWAYS be yourself. Never do anything to fit in with people who you THINK are better than you. You live for yourself, so do what makes YOU happy, and don't do anything to fit in. 2) EXPECT disappointments. Throughout life, people are always going to let you down, and the best thing to do? Don't let it bother you. Make it motivate you to do well, BETTER, without their help. 3) Always BELIEVE in yourself. It is IMPORTANT to believe you can do it, because then you feel like you have nothing in the way. If you have too much doubt (a little bit is necessary), the only barrier from stopping what you want to do, is yourself. Seems common key advice, but with examples that Marcello gave throughout the session, it really showed the students that the advice, really is worth listening to!

What is it?

The Blink Effect is a media course for young students aged 16-19, who are interested in media. This is our 3rd week into our 5 week course, and we are going to update on our progress on here. So far we've had Marcello Spooks in to inspire the group to do what they want, and to believe in themselves. We've had the lovely Will Manning from Kiss FM and The Hits Radio come in to join us for a radio production day ....it's been a good couple of weeks with amazing guests coming in to help:)! In a few weeks time (date and time not confirmed), the students are holding a showcase at the Roundhouse in Wycombe. Further details will be given shortly for anybody who would want to attend!
