THE BIO 

 Kaden believes he was born in Greece to the Leventis’. Both young, hard working professionals who loved Kaden and cared for him very much. But when he was 10 his family was involved in a car crash caused by a drunk driver who T-boned them. His mother was gone for the paramedics arrived. And his father didn’t make it out of the hospital. After being in ICU for several weeks Caden recovered with minimal injuries considering. 

Without any other living relatives Caden was placed in the foster care system, he bounced around from home to home. Most of the homes he went too were decent, but in one home in particular he was beaten and neglected just for the cheque from the government. He found it hard to find a home as most families didn’t have the patience to deal with him acting our, thinking he was trouble. Rather than helping him deal with his trauma and undiagnosed adhd.

As he became a teenager he was better at controlling himself and feel in love with sports channeling all his energy into any team sport he could get it since it kept him busy. When not playing some form of sport or working out he was always working and saving his money.

When he turned 13 his hopes of being adopted were at an all time low, he’d been told time and time again that no one wants to adopt a teenager. But when he turned 15 he was adopted by an older couple who had been unable to have children of their own. The husband was a retired firefighter and the wife an ex teacher. He taught Caden how to box as a means to channel his energy and they gave him the patience and love he needed.

As he got older he decided to follow in his adoptive fathers footsteps and became a firefighter so he could carry on his work and could help people.

  “wow look at you go, i think you should be taking the day to actually relax though, you know you work like all the time.” a bit dramatic with her words though ria felt as if he was always working. as much as she wished she could spend more time with him, one day he would be at work then when his time was free she would have something to do. there was rarely a real day off for the two, someone was surely going to say they wasted their best years at some point. "chronological order.“ she even paused in her movements giving him a look before ria returned to her task. stripping away the party attire and tucking herself into sweats and a top, faintly listening to cade as he spoke.

   “um–honestly we didn’t really talk about those things, aaron does like his steak medium rare though . i mostly got that his vibe was very…strong and well what goes well with that than a badass firefighter.” she sweetened the words, trying to lighten the words of aaron. ria thought of the stranger and it was hard to remember their exact words but she was sure he didn’t specify his job, did normal people talk about those things off the bat? “it was long but i wish you could have came the food was really good.” if it wasn’t so classy she may have taken some to go but surely someone would have given a side eye to the blonde. ria eventually moved to cade, stopping only a few inches from him. “did i say i missed you? because i really did.”

“I know but I had the whole day off and you didn’t. So I wanted you to be able to relax when you got home.” He held his hands up in mock surrender at the pool, “hey I was just checking.” He smiled and nodded, interested too hear about someone she thought would make a good friend for him. He was curious by nature and maybe that meant he’d ask too many questions, but the steak comment had him smiling, “well at least I know he’s a man with taste.” He smirked though over her complimenting him.

Once she stopped in front of him Caden immediately reached out to hold her in his arms. “I had pizza for dinner so I’m okay. I’m sure it was great though.” He kissed her forehead gently, “I missed you too. Like a whole lot.” He admitted. “Feeling better now?”

“unforunately. hospital is a bit short staffed so sometimes they run longer but luckily the shifts switched without a hitch tonight and i officially have a night to myself,” she sighed, taking a long drink from her own. “is that a good thing for your line of work?” she asked curiously. “i think we are in the same boat then.”

He nodded, completely understanding the stresses that could come with shift change overs. “I’m glad it went smoothly for you. I’m a firefighter so yes, not being busy is probably a good thing.” He chuckled slightly before taking another sip. “Working at the hospital, are you a doctor then?” He was curious by nature and her friendly demeanor was only encouraging him to ask questions.

  he certainly had a slightly beyond average look about himself, although daphne was sure he wasn’t a god. athens recently crawling with the blissfully unaware beings. that however didn’t mean other creatures weren’t circling, like herself she was just a nymph. “someone said this is actually a thing in some countries. elderly parents helping theirs sons get spouses, it’s kind of funny when you think of all the people on the planet and they have to resort to those methods.”

He laughed and shook his head slightly, “honestly I think I would be offended if my grandparents ever did that.” He wasn’t an arrogant man, but he was a proud and confident man. “It’s almost like they wouldn’t trust in my ability to find or attract someone.” He chuckled to himself, glad he’d never actually have to worry about that, thinking of his girlfriend. “You know what i mean?”

  there were moments like these where ria really couldn’t believe cade was in her life, he was like a guy stepping out of the tales. she let the door shut behind her, returning his hug as her face buried into his shirt. “i will after i change – don’t tell me this is what you filled your evening with.” ria finally replied with a soft sigh, pulling away just enough to see his face. although her words seemed disapproving her lips twisted upward in a smile, yup far too good for her. it was a happiness that warmed her to the point she questioned in. 

  “are you really going to put up with star wars – because i’m thinking it could be a full series kind of night.” her brow raised, a fair warning to her companion. although she’d never want to step away she finally did, heading off towards the bedroom. “you know i met someone tonight, his name was aaron. he’s really quiet but i kind of think you two would hit it off given the chance.”

He smiled as he shrugged his shoulders, “I didn’t just do this. I also bought groceries.” He answered back with a chuckle. It still amazed him that someone so amazing and as beautiful as Ria would choose to be with him. He laughed, “oh come on. You know I’m always going to watch Star Wars. Just one question, premier order or chronological order?” He asked as he copied her expression and raised his own eyebrows.

He followed her to the bedroom, casually crossing his arms he lent his tall frame against the door frame as he watched her. “Aaron? Do you know what he does or anything?” He was curious to meet anyone Ria thought he’d get along with since she knew him better than anyone. “How was the event by the way?”

“it really has,” she laughed easily, getting comfortable before taking another drink from her glass. “i had to fight to even get this drink.” giving the stranger an easy smile, the woman nodded. “you can definitely say that. twenty four hours on my feet and i always love a drink afterwards. how about you?”

He raised his eyebrows, “oh are you on those twenty four hour shifts too? They can be brutal at times.” He spoke with an understanding as he took a sip of his drink. “It could’ve been worse but it was more steady then busy. Nothing too crazy at least. Needed this drink though.”

 “do people still believe there’s a lord and a savior? i learned long ago those were terms abused by people in power.” a slight chuckle came out of him, anyone ever referred to as a ‘lord’ were just men in power. saviors were fables to given people an illusion that life could be better with the right people in their lives. when the other sat down ambrose shook his hand, “ambrose, pleasure caden.” responding politely as he withdrew his hand, when the waitress came back over ambrose requested a pitcher of champagne and orange juice. “are you a local to the area? i thought this place would be packed with tourists but no one seems to be in sight.”

“I don’t know, I think a few slightly delusional people do.” He shrugged with a small grin. “But basically I just meant as long as you aren’t trying to convert or sell me to some pyramid scheme I’m in.” Cade laughed a little, he never believed in god or Jesus or anything like that. But he’d had his fair share of people trying to chat about it. He smiled and nodded as the man introduced himself. “Born and raised actually. Lived here practically my entire life. It will be closer to sunset, but you chose a good time.” He glanced around, taking in the view once again. “Where are you from?”

 she was ready to make a comment about how at least gods gave her a cute savior for the moment, but daphne held her tongue and gave him a smile. when they were a safe distance away she put space between them. “thank you again,” she typically didn’t get bothered given her ‘resting bitch face’ the latest generation called it. yet the elderly couple were so… persistent like rain fall. “are you kidding me? give those two kooks enough time and i bet they’ll actually find someone for him.”

He smiled and shook his head, “please it’s not a problem. I’m glad I could help.” He really was just genuinely happy he had been there on time to be able to help her. He knew they meant no harm, but being bothered and badgered wasn’t fun for anyone. He couldn’t help the chuckle as he nodded, “honestly you’re probably right. They seemed like very persistent old people.” He paused, furrowing his brows slightly before smirking, “like more persistent than the regular old people.”

  the event wasn’t a total bust, she got to eat some food, made some cash, met a guy named ‘aaron’ he didn’t even try to hit on her, perhaps cade would like him? the thought brought a smile to her face, cade having fun and with friends was enough to make her a smiling idiot. ria had to take a little breath to calm herself before she headed up the stairs to the front door, her heels in hand the only lingering down fall from working the party. 

    her steps her quiet and the only thing that echoed in the long hallway was the buzzing of an exit sign. it was so silent she could forget other people lived in the building. ria found herself for a moment zoning out to the sound of the buzz, almost managing to catch the sounds from outside coming through the window but the door to her place made a slight creaking noise as it was swung open, her hair gently moving with the wind. no surprise to the culprit,  a tired smile greeting him. “hi honey,” a little wave with her shoe filled hand.

It was quite a slow day of work for Cade today, which in his line of work was actually considered a good thing. He got home and since he had the time he decided to do the few dishes, finish up some laundry and vacuum. Trying to do anything he could possibly think of that Ria would try doing after she got home from work. It was getting late so he decided to try and help her relax for when she did get home. He got some pillows and blankets, putting them on the couch, before making two hot chocolates and adding the mini marshmallows. Setting them on the coffee table.

It wasn’t long before he heard the door open and turned with a smile to greet the blonde woman. Seeing how tired she looked he was glad he taken the initiative tonight. “Hi darling.” He answered back before walking over to her and gently taking the shoes from her hand before kissing her forehead gently and hugging her. “Before you tell me how your day was, why don’t you come sit down and relax with me? I’ve got hot chocolate and we can put on your favourite movie.”

“is this seat open?” anastasia pointed to the bar stool next to them, promptly taking it for herself. “seems like it took forever to even find an open spot around here.”

Caden looked up from his drink and the bowl of bar nuts he’d managed to secure and offered a small smile, “yeah, have a seat.” He looked around not realizing how busy it had become since he got there. “It really packed out huh?” He paused for a moment to take a sip before he thought he’d offer some conversation, “so, did you have a  long day?”

  he gave a small wave to the person who seated him, an open area though the cafe was rather picky with sitting placement apparently. a slight huff can out as he sat down, lifting his sunglasses to the top of his head he couldn’t find himself to look at the menu quite yet. gazing over to the ocean on the other side of the sand. he wanted to be swallowed by it, athens as exciting as it was felt rather… frightening, like on the brink of something that wasn’t – shouldn’t be bothered. 

   with that ambrose smirked, nothing was out of his reach, if it ends him so be it. turning from the alluring water his eyes scanned the outside seating, another lonesome fellow sitting as he was. no food on their table he gave a little nod to them. “dare to dine with a stranger?”

Caden didn’t often get a moment to sit down like this at lunch with his line of work so when he did he would jump at the chance. He hadn’t ordered yet, distracted by the view, but He looked up and offered a friendly smile at the person who spoke to him. He shrugged slightly before he spoke, “as long as you aren’t going to ask me to talk about our lord and saviour, then why not?”

He got up and made his way over to the others table stretching out a hand before he sat down. “But let’s fix that strangers part. I’m Caden, it’s nice to meet you.”

   “hi! so glad you made it i have been waiting forever.” daphne wrapped her arms around them, whispering when her face was hidden from her previous company. “i’ll buy you whatever you want if you go with it.” leaning away her hands still on them before stepping to the side, arms looping theirs. she gave a fake frown to the elderly couple, “i’m really sorry, i am sure you have just the most lovely grandchild but afraid my lover is here.” a slight ‘tsk’ noise made from her before pulling her victim away. “and i am so sorry to you, you were the first person who didn’t read creepy or totally closed off and i don’t think i could take one more picture from them.”

This wasn’t the first time Caden had pretended to date someone and he had a sneaky suspicion it probably wouldn’t be the last either. As soon as the woman’s words sunk in he hugged her back before putting on a sheepish grin. “Oh I’m sorry darling, you know how work can be though.” He chuckled for show and addressed the elderly couple she had just spoken to. “You’ll have to forgive me, but I’ll be stealing her away now. Good luck with your grandson though.” Before allowing her to pull him away. “You don’t have to apologize, I’m glad I showed up when I did and was able to help.” He smirked, “I feel sorry for their grandkid though.”
