Twelfth Doctor + navy blue asked by @lonelyzarquon
I'm down for relationship discourse if and only if no possibility exists of arriving at any useful conclusion.
"Is it cheating if you're on a break" what is this, a sitcom?
"Is it cheating if you're fucking two different instances of the same time traveller and the earlier one doesn't know" now we're talking.
Is it cheating if you're fucking two different instances of the same time traveller and the earlier one doesn't know you're also fucking their future self?
It's definitely cheating
It's literally fine
It's fine IF AND ONLY IF their future self is still dating future you
It's not cheating, but at least one of them probably has problematic age gap
It's cheating because the future one split the timeline by fucking you
It's not cheating because time is an illusion
It's cheating because one cannot step on the same dick twice, or whatever
It depends on whether the Novikov self-consistency principle is in play
TECHNICALLY not cheating, but it's unethical for a different reason (specify)

âThatâs what companyâs for,â he beamed. âGood company, too,â he looked at her. âErâ all of them, I mean, Iâm sure,â he glanced around at the other passengers, who he hasnât actually gotten to talk to much at all, really. âThe professor hereâs been on this trip fourteen times, so I suppose we have an expert here,â he gestured to Professor Hobbs with a tilt of his head, he overheard and smiled at the compliment.
A waterfall sort of guy. He blinked a few times when she said he probably already knew that. âThat⊠sounds about right,â He⊠honestly had no idea what was going on, and he was dying to know but he had a feeling that if she knew any more than he did, she would be reluctant to tell and mess with the timeline. But he was getting a stronger sense that this was his Anna. Not her descendent, and⊠possibly⊠one that already knew him? But his thoughts were interrupted as the hostessâs âentertainmentâ systems caused a cacophany of a headache as they all overlapped each other and his attention turned to her. Somehow she seemed to think this was suitable entertainment, although nothing could be made sense of over all the loud noise clashing with each other. Discreetly, he took his sonic screwdriver out and, after a few seconds, the noises all stopped, and the hostess confusedly tried to work the remote to get it back on, apologizing for the malfunction as the couple in the back complained about not having the entertainment system.
âBut what do we do?â the wife asked. âWeâve got four hours of this? Four hours of just sitting here?â her husband complained.
âTell you what,â the Doctor said, glancing at Anna again then turning around to look at the other passengers. âWeâll have to talk to each other instead!â he said with a grin.
Anna glanced briefly at the sonic screwdriver and a small smile crossed her face. Thank god for that. Having a meltdown from all the noise wasnât the possibility first but maybe not impression she wanted to give to the future or maybe current love of her lives. They couldnât really figure out what each of them knew of the other with all these people around to hear them talking about time travel. Maybe once they got to the waterfall they could find a place to talk, just the two of them.
âOh no, anything but that!â Anna replied in mock horror to the Doctorâs suggestion, though several passengers seemed truly upset at the thought. She couldnât really blame them, but surely they would agree that anything was better than what the alternative would have been. âHow could we possibly find things to talk about for four hours?â
The teen in the back did internally groan at the thought. His parents could definitely get to talking if you got them started, and it's always the same things. The same stories, the same conversations, and somehow they seemed to be okay with that. Enjoy it, even. They think they're hilarious no matter how many times they tell the same joke. But that's everyone's parents, isn't it?
Jethro was starting to wish he'd brought his own personal entertainment system, but his parents made him leave it behind. 'They'll have things on the bus, I promise,' they said. Great.
He put the earplugs in and leaned against the wall of the bus, his head hitting against it pretty hard. His parents were complaining as if they wouldn't have the time of their lives from this, but then again, complaining is a big part of them having the time of their lives with anything, so.
And this 'Doctor' seemed very excited about talking to a bus full of strangers. Well. Maybe not entirely strangers. He seemed to cozy up to the pretty redhead real quick. Could just be flirting with a beautiful stranger, but he suspected something more. They just seemed like they were familiar with each other, although their conversation sounded guarded. Exes? Exes still hung up on each other? Possibly seeing other people though?
Her objection didn't sound like an honest objection, as if she knew this man could talk, for hours, but not like Jethro's parents. Like he might actually have some interesting things to say. Nevertheless, Jethro's parents took up that objection quickly in agreement in what sounded much more genuine but would, naturally, result in them talking everyone's ear off with things nobody could really stay interested in for long.
The Doctor, however, was good at this. He had an energy that drew people in, a type of genuine excitement that somehow made it seem like four hours with no entertainment system wouldn't feel like an eternity. That was being optimistic, of course, but he could try. The Doctor was great at getting people to talk, and Jethro observed how easily he made it happen despite the entire bus's original reluctance.
Everyone on the bus originally projected an air as if this was going to be a bad idea, but the Doctor could talk, and he started and although everything he said sounded fascinating he somehow never actually revealed anything about himself. And slowly he drew people in, pulled them into the conversation, got them talking about themselves, their lives, their experiences, laughing, somehow getting comfortable and he somehow projected that same level of genuine interest and enthusiasm even at the most mundane things.
Until he got the conversation going enough without him for him to sit back with his friend, the only person here that he really wanted to be with, to talk with her more quietly. And it was quiet enough (and the other passengers were loud enough) for Jethro not to be able to hear them, despite taking the earplugs out now and leaning forward trying to focus in on it.
The Doctor leaned toward Anna after plopping back down in the chair next to her. "They sure know how to talk, that lot. Jethro's quiet though. Definitely more the observe-y type. The sulk quietly in the corner while scrutinizing everyone else-type. Suppose a lot of teenagers are that way, though," the Doctor said. "Hope Deedee can learn to stand up for herself against the professor. She's smart. She deserves it. And Sky, she's... Got a lot of baggage with her ex. Relationships where one person goes... very far away despite some maybe unresolved issues are always challenging." He frowned. I don't know where you're at-- and you don't have to say, but... I want to say I'm sorry for the way things turned out. I didn't mean-- I didn't know things would get so complicated. His hand inched slightly towards hers, but didn't fully meet it. Maybe she won't know what he's talking about, but then, he has no idea what's going on either, so that seems fair to him.

âI did come here with a friend, Donna, but she thinks itâs too much like a school trip to be in a bus for four hours, see the waterfall, then get back on the bus for another four hours. I suppose sheâs right, but most school trips arenât traveling across an open field on a deadly planet, are they? Well, a decent amount of mine turned out that way, or worse, so maybe they are.â He shrugged. âSheâs sunbathing instead because thatâs not dangerous with an extonic star.â He laughed. âWhat about you? You said your partner wonât be until tomorrow? Will he see the waterfall or is he more the sunbathing-type?â He was trying not to be jealous that she was apparently traveling with someone else.
âEight hours is a long time to be on a bus. Especially when getting off early would instantly vaporize you.â Maybe if it wasnât a tiny metal box of overstimulation. She could feel her face starting to turn pink in response to everything the stewardess had turned on, and it was likely that a couple of blotchy patches were growing on her arms.
âHeâs very much a waterfall sort of guy,â she replied, an amused smile on her face as she felt his jealousy. âBut I think you probably already knew that.â
"That's what company's for," he beamed. "Good company, too," he looked at her. On Casting the Doctor: Rebloggable by request
torchyvalentine asked: What would you say to Sir Ian Mckellen taking the reigns as the 12th Doctor? For that matter, who do you think would be a good actor for the character?
I think that if youâd asked me who should be the 11th Doctor 5 years ago I wouldnât have listed Matt Smith, because I didnât know who he was or what he was capable of, and if youâd asked me who should play Sherlock Holmes in a modern day revival around the same time I wouldnât have said Benedict Cumberbatch, because I didnât know who he was either.
I actually like it when The Doctor is a relatively unknown actor, or one without one huge role that made them famous. A star, like Sir Ian, brings all the other roles theyâve ever played to the table when they act. Seeing John Hurt as the (Spoiler) at the end of the Name of the Doctor, meant that this was a certain type of part with a certain amount of gravitas, and you understood that John Hurt was bringing everything with it (including being John Hurt), just as Derek Jacobi did as the Master.Â
But I like to see The Doctor as The Doctor, and an actor who doesnât bring baggage is a grand sort of thing. A star waiting to happen. So I donât want to see Helen Mirren or Sir Ian McKellen or Chiwetel Ejiofor, or any of the famous names people are suggesting.
I want to see The Doctor. I want to be taken by surprise. I want to squint at a photo of the person online and go âbut how can that be The Doctor?â. Then I want to be amazingly, delightedly, completely proven wrong, and, six episodes in, I want to wonder how I could have been so blind. Because this is the Doctor. Of course it is.
Still true. Will be true for ever and always. Welcome Ncuti Gatwa!
The Doctor: "Space, the final frontier... Final because it wants to kill us. Sometimes we forget that. Start taking it all for granted. The suits, the ships, the little bubbles of safety as they protect us from the void. But the void is always waiting.
So, how does space kill you? I'm glad you asked. The main problem is pressure. There isn't any. So don't hold your breath or your lungs will explode! Blood vessels rupture. Exposed areas swell. Fun fact: the boiling temperature of water is much lower in a vacuum, which means that your sweat and your saliva will boil, as will the fluid around your eyes. You won't notice any of this, because 15 seconds in, you passed out as oxygen bubbles formed in your blood, and 90 seconds in... You're dead. Any questions? Yes."
Student: "What's this got to do with crop rotation?"
The Doctor: "Uh, I-I don't know. But space is great, isn't it?"

Happy Space Day everyone!

âIn his very repressed, restrained way, heâs clearly as besotted with Clara as he ever was. That line in Dark Water, âDo you think I care for you so little, that betraying me would make a difference?â Thatâs about as close to âI love youâ as the Doctor can get.â

Thoughts on a Clock by Eric Ritchie Jr. (And Dawn. Mostly Dawn)
The clock strikes One and the day is new As you run away to explore. Before you know it, the clock strikes Two, But your futureâs as bright as before.
You travel through time, always playing the fool, With Jamie there by your side. But they exiled you, you broke their rules, On Earth youâll swallow your pride.
The clock strikes Three, and youâre stuck on Earth, With UNIT youâll fight the Master, When you defeat Omega, theyâll know what youâre worth, Youâll travel again and run faster.
When you get your TARDIS back, youâll meet Sarah Jane, You die in her arms at Four. With jelly babies and scarf itâs yours to play, And the moment will be prepared for.
The clock strikes Five and youâre surrounded by friends, With Adric and Nyssa and Tegan. Then Turlough and Kamelion, then Peri for the end, But you find yourself changing again.
When you come to Six, you are due for some change, And it comes not a moment too soon, Although your new self can seem loud and strange, You march to your own tune.
Seven has come, and youâre not quite old, And thereâre so many worlds out there, too. Thereâs danger and song and the tea is getting cold, And thereâs still so much work to do.
The clock strikes Eight, and youâre not sure who you are, Youâre just trying to look after your health. But youâre needed at home to stop the war, So physician, heal thyself.
The universe is burning and time was set aflame. The clock stops for the War. You hid from the battle, you take all of the blame. Your only thoughts are the words âNo more.â
You saved them all, but you thought they fell. Your hearts were torn apart as you ran. The sound of Nineâs hour is a requiem bell, But you forget as you grab her hand.
Nineâs hour seems short, but it was fantastic, There was no better run. The clock strikes Ten and it feels like magic, Itâll be a brilliant one.
Tenâs hour shines so bright in the night, You make the night into day. With Rose and Martha and Donna the Bright, Youâll know youâre always okay.
But theyâre all gone now, they break your hearts, Youâre alone but you say âno.â You realize that youâve gone too dark, But you donât want to go.
On the Eleventh hour, you meet Amy Pond, The girl who waited for you. Then your Impossible Girl whoâs so fond, Sheâs there for whatever you do.
You go back to your darkest time, You almost lost but said âNo moreâ. You changed your mind and saved their lives, But youâre off to Trenzalore.
For this one small town, you stayed to fight, For Christmas you will defend. The man who stayed for Christmas night, But now youâre nearing the end.
And now itâs time for one last bow, Like all your other selves. Elevenâs hour is over now, The clock is striking Twelveâs.
Twelveâs hour has come, and it comes hard, You donât think you know your own mind. But this hour is filled with compassion and heart, Where you were always kind.
Never be cruel and never be cowardly, And if you are, make amends. For as long as you always show mercy, It won't matter if you're foes or friends.
At the end of Twelve youâre back at the start, At the moment where Twelve meets One. Youâve come full circle, and youâre about to depart, But still the clock ticks on.
Surrounded by memories made of glass You know the end is near. But there are words to be said before you pass, Words the next one should hear.
Everything ends and it's always sad, When it feels like you've been walking for miles, I know sometimes it can make you quite mad, But all you should do is smile.
For you know that everything begins again, too, And that is always happy. So laugh hard, be kind, the day is new. Run fast and make it snappy.
Twelveâs hour now has come and gone, And many times youâve saved the world. But Thirteenâs hour is about to dawn, And the future is all girl.
thereâs no best dr who, thereâs only the one you imprinted on like a baby bird
Iâm glad they convinced Terrance Dicks that making the Master the villain in The Five Doctors would be too predictable because itâs so much funnier watching him run around trying to save a bunch of Doctors who absolutely refuse to be saved by him and who keep stealing all his stuff while he repeatedly gets knocked unconscious
Master: Iâm trying to help you this time, I swear!
Doctors: Yeah right, weâre not stupid.
Master (later): Fine! Iâm done with all you! *Instantly gets knocked out by the Brigadier.*
It chrismas. Merr chrismas
Merr chrismas. Should we lay under the tree or put lights around John again and lay under him?
Maria: Oh, there were times when we would look at each other⊠oh Mother, I could hardly breath.
#mm. their chemistry in this movie is stupidly scorchingly electric#when they dance the landler and maria breathes ââŠ..I canât remember what comes nextâ like SAME MARIA#I WAS ALSO DISTRACTED BY HOW GEORG WAS LOOKING AT YOU LIKE HE WANTED TO EAT YOU#I WAS MOSTLY IMPRESSED BY YOUR ABILITY TO REMAIN UPRIGHT#heâs so frustrated by her entire existence and isnât that the dream? to frustrate and arouse a very hot wealthy man who hates nazis?
