This is the final product of the Curated Black Book and all the contributions made over almost a month (I think) by various people (anonymous and named) to the open Google Document. It's my biggest project to date and one of the few that I've actually carried through to fruition. I hope that you will find the site a useful tool when you need to waste some time :D
This was the original objective of the Curated Black Book when I first sent out the clarion call -
I’ve been swapping books to read, interesting sites, food places etc. with a couple of friends for awhile, and I think it’d be nice to share with each other whatever we’ve enjoyed in 2011. After all, aren’t we always looking out for good reads, or good music, or even just something to do when we’re free and have a little bit of downtime?
I had only a few rules for submissions to the Black Book -
Put only the best of what you would recommend (pretend you are recommending it to a friend!), it doesn’t have to be something you discovered this year, as long as it is something worth discovering.
Respect the contributions of others, and not edit or delete the entries made by others. Feel free to share the google docs link with others, but the above rules apply.
For the first week or so, it looked as though it was going to be a list with only one contributor and one reader - yours truly. Then things started to pick up and now I have a document with lots and lots of useful suggestions for when you really need some ideas for things to do during your downtime. Thank you for all the submissions made over the past few weeks - I open the document every day religiously and check for new submissions.
I will push out an entry for each submission on the google document and each entry will be tagged accordingly based on the type of activity or submission (books, films etc.) and there will be a main index/ content page as a master list.
The google document had ten sections, and the tumblr will be structured accordingly to these sections -
Not all categories were created equal, however, and it is clear that there are some categories which have received far more attention than the rest. Nobody seems willing to share recipes, although in the spirit of our foodie-ness, the food section is burgeoning with your suggestions from all four corners of Singapore.

I hope you enjoy the 2011 submissions and share any other contributions you may have (either in the comments or in the Google Document itself). Every entry has been carefully curated by someone like you and me with the aim of sharing it.
I will continue to leave the document open for the 2012 submissions so that we can push out a new Black Book for 2012.
Please continue to spread the word to friends and people who are intending to visit Singapore so that the book will continue to grow.
NB: At the moment, the search doesn't seem to work, but you can rely on the tagging system and archives for now. I will be updating the links to each individual post on each section over time.
