semi-immortal homunculus fleeing his terrible family. the handful of government experiments he rescued from a lab to be his minions. the various humans, cast out by society, who came to work for him under his protection. the tragedy that they all faced in the end together, protecting each others backs until the end, and the realization after all was said and done that a group of close friends was all he ever wanted... greed and his chimeras are THE found family of all time. fma is full of family relationships, both biological and not, but theres something especially resonant to me about greed escaping his birth family and finding kinship in the shadows with his fellow outcasts, all of whom love him just the way he is. something something lgbt metaphor. they dont get much time on screen but their impact on the series is huge, and in particular bidos undying loyalty to greed is what brings back his memories after hes been "purified" and winds up setting the scene for the entire final battle. there is so much sadness but so much love. all of them would and Did die for one another. roa and dolcetto sacrificing themselves for martel, martel dying in a last-ditch bid to avenge them, bido dying out of trust in greed even after everything about the situation should have told him not to, greed eventually dying to save his NEW friends... they make me cry! do you ever lay in a puddle of your own tears and think about a bunch of furries at a gay bar. i do.

There are rarely any quiet moments in the Nest. Someone is always doing something, whether it's cooking, listening to music, or training, but on those rare occasions where it is quiet, it's usually to refresh after long, crowded nights.
The orange cat outside the Nest has turned people away from the bar by getting the attention of the chimeras keeping watch at the time. She's affectionately named Bouncer by the Nest.
I headcanon that Greed loves animals but can't have them in the Nest (they don't like homunculi. Or most chimeras) so he leaves food out for them. The alley outside the Devil's Nest is the favorite buffet of every stray in Dublith.

Greed gets a bouquet for each member of the Nest. In return, they make him a bouquet by taking one flower from each of theirs and wrapping it in a spare ribbon.
Hi! I enjoy your headcanons. Do you have thoughts on what types of animals any of the unnamed chimeras are fused with? I personally think that the one with the gas mask could be something aquatic, blondie is a housecat, and doc is a corvid of some kind, like a magpie, but would love to hear your own thoughts on the matter.

I do think the gas mask chimera could be something aquatic, unfortunately we don't get to see much of them in the manga or animes :/
Blondie has claws, (something else with his fingers that looks like it could be fur if you squint?? Or skin?) and sharp canines (but that might not be from the fusion) in the manga, so maybe some type of big cat? I do like the idea of him being a house-cat though :>
Doc absolutely does have corvid/magpie vibes! I've always thought of him as a bat for headcanons, but I think corvid fits him v well!
I have a headcannon that the whole devil’s nest has one big crappy mattress that they all group cuddle on because its all they’ve got but they’re at least together as a family of misfits.
The mattress lives in Greed's room since it's the biggest 👀
Martel was combined with a ball python. Half because the alchemists at the lab were hesitant to use another reptile after Bido and half because they were scared of making her venomous if it was successful.
