Hello everyone I have returned!

Parked my ship further up the mountain.” He gestured with his thumb back along the uneven path. “Also looking for a type of plant that only grows on one side of this rock. It’s good for the digestive tracts of some prehistoric species.”

Lona sniffed at him, still observing him carefully. I know the plant of which you speak. You will not find it here anymore. Drought befell this land some years ago, and it is only now beginning to recover.

The Time Lord hesitated, one foot hovering in place before he could set it down for his next step. XI carefully turned to see the dragon’s nose protruding from the cave.

"Er.. hi. Hello. I’m the Doctor. I’m a Time Lord, from another reality. Sorry if I’ve disturbed you."

A Time Lord? she repeated curiously, poking her head further out of the cave and observing him with one large, violet eye. I thought your people were no more than legend. What brings you here?

"No." he replied coldly. "You’re never going back to your planet."

He didn’t give her his reasons even though he had plenty. Assuming they did find her planet and it was fine, she would ask to stay and he’d have to set her free. But if it wasn’t okay, well, no one should ever have to witness the destruction of their own planet.

"Anywhere else you’d like to go? If not, you can stay locked up in here for the rest of the day."

Lona's face fell. For the first time, she had had hope that she could go back home, even if it was to learn that she would never go home again. But now that hope was gone. She was adrift, never to find out what had become of her parents or brother or friends. 

"I would prefer to stay here," she murmured softly, staring at the ground.

"Well, I’m sorry to be the one to tell you this, but you live in a beautiful, marvellous universe, with endless possibilities and millions of places where you can fly and be free. But you live in a universe full of bad men and full of danger and pain. And in my universe, bad men who do not seek for redemption are meant to burn. And burning them is the only way to survive. I have many demons, Lona. I’m not good, but I’m not bad. Sometimes I have to burn my demons, but sometimes I need them to survive. You’ve seen what bad men can do to you, you’ve known what it’s like to look into the eyes of a monster. You need to promise me that next time you’ll burn the monsters, because I never want anyone to hurt you again."

"I..." she looked down again, unsure if she should tell him that was a promise she may not be able to keep. "I promise," she murmured. 

"Your ship," she began carefully, "She can travel in time, yes? Would it..." Lona stopped, her heart pounding at the request she was about to make. If anything could prompt him to strike her, it would be her next words. "Would she be able to take me back to my planet? So I could learn its fate?"
