So I'm binging Miraculous Ladybug season 6 (yes I'm a year late, no we do not talk about it) and I've only watched to The Ruler so NO SPOILERS PLEASE but, can I just say, I love how many queerios they put in this show; Rose, Juleka, Mylene, Zoe, Marc, Nathaniel, Miss Bustier, all of them are fantastic in my opinion. I specifically appreciate them just having and showing queer couples on screen, and while I know nobody so far has straight up said "Juleka and Rose/Nathaniel and Marc are dating," I think it's fine that they aren't looking into the camera and saying it outright, firstly because it's Disney and it do be like that unfortunately, but I also don't think them not saying it takes away from the representation. Marc and Nathaniel obviously have mutual romantic feelings for one another, we don't need to be told that, it's obvious they are a couple, and same with Juleka and Rose, they kissed in El Toro De Piedra, and yes while we didn't get a close-up on their lips touching, the message was clear. I'm sure the team behind Miraculous are doing this intentionally, so if people try to come at them for being gay they have the excuse of "We never technically showed/said anything, so it's not crossing the line" and while that is unfortunate, we're so close to the damn line it hardly matters to me, like we're sharing a budget New York apartment with the line, theres not much closer we can get without being on top of it. I'm just overjoyed to have queer representation in this trainwreck of a kids show that has infected my brain.
ALSO, SEASON 6 ROCKS SO FAR, I'm loving that we get to see people's stories outside of Marinette and Adrien, it's very refreshing, and while the change in style and character design is a tad jarring, I'm here for like 85% of it. I also cannot stand Adrienette, they urk me so bad, every episode has to end with "I love you sm" "No I love you more" and like. C'mon people. Calm down for like a minute please. They just don't do it for me because Marinette is still pinning after him and acting like she can't move a muscle around him or he'll hate her forever, and it just doesn't seem like a fulfilling relationship for either of them. Adrien is new at having a life basically, he's never had a Domino's pizza or experienced the joy that is a Costco icecream cup, or made his parents buy him a cereal he doesn't even like at the store just because it had a prize at the bottom of the box, like mans has done nothing in his life except what his father wanted, and it makes me feel bad that he takes responsibility for the issues Marinette causes in their relationship. And also Marinette desperately needs therapy, girl has such crippling anxiety and needs help.
