it's been a while since I re-read the books but I do think gideon the ninth was really cooking with the redemptive power of total forgiveness when Gideon forgives Harrow for everything in the pool, in a way that heals both of them... particularly when you contrast Gideon with John "quite the most appallingly vindictive person I have ever met" Gaius
In the year 20??, Dr John ??? has a pivotal moment with a nun in which he has the opportunity for redemptive forgiveness and he bungles the whole thing so terribly that billions die and it ushers in centuries of intergalactic fascism.
In the myriadic year of our Lord - the ten thousandth year of the King Undying, the kindly Prince of Death, Gideon Nav has a pivotal moment with a nun in which she has the opportunity for redemptive forgiveness, grasps it, and thus Stanley Yelnatses her dad's failure to be the John the Baptist of the apocalypse...

getting the dream tattoo tomorrow, about to be so sexy
This would have had me crucified on tumblr 10 years ago but maybe we are ready for this conversation now:
If you are a socially anxious person, you have to socialize. Your panic/anxiety attacks will only get worse and trigger more frequently if you constantly avoid contact with The Public. Not saying that you need to be a social butterfly- but there is a genuine problem with not being able to order your own meal at a restaurant. And it cannot be solved by always having someone else do it for you.
This is a PSA to about 3/4s of the Portland Youth populace
everyone who reblogs this and is like "I ordered my own tea this week" or "I only barfed once when I had to give a presentation'- you are doing amazing sweetie. Have patience with yourself, you are relearning a skill so difficult that people get 4 year degrees to do it professionally.
“You’re not my mother. My mother’s a bitch.”
That’s the perfect way to end this episode.
Because the world is full of forced, artificial niceness. Some people are just bitches! And they are loved anyway! And Manousos is right there saying it. His mother is a bitch, and that’s how he knows the thing puppeting her body isn’t her.
Since Carol has nobody important to her alive anymore, she can’t look them in the face and say that she wants them back with all their flaws and selfishness. But Manousos can. He’s not tempted for a second. He can turn his back on the thing wearing his mother’s skin, because it’s not her. All the other survivors are lying to themselves.
College complete!!! And my last project was a tumblr side blog, what a world we live in
CLOUDBURST (2011) dir. Thom Fitzgerald Stella and Dotty are an older lesbian couple from Maine who embark on a Thelma and Louise-style road trip to Nova Scotia to get married after Dotty is moved into a nursing home by her granddaughter. Along the way they pick up Prentice, a hitchhiker travelling home to Nova Scotia to visit his dying mother, and the three bond as they travel together. (link in title)
This movie made me legitimately cry in happiness, I love old lesbians and we never see them in media. And it didn’t even technically end sad, for once!
