Remember to always protect your personal phone number, you can get a second one using google voice and I imagine other places, that's just the one I know.

Remember to protect your home address, it's terrifying how much information on you is likely out there, get a PO box, you can use it for an address usually and it'll protect your privacy and very likely help protect your life if you are a part of any targeted marginalized group.

So is google, facebook, etc. It's pretty hard to believe that a data broker is going to delete your info simply by being asked nicely.

Always protect your private information as best that you can, there are a lot of data collection websites that simply scrape publically available data from government and state websites and such to build a profile on you, any family they can connect you to through the same addresses, phone numbers, they have pages of addresses and who loved there and when. There is a significant amount of fear mongering and people trying to sell a product and it's important to always question why a for-profit company is doing something seemingly nice. The reality is that they are always getting something more out of it than you're getting.

Also, NEVER TALK TO POLICE. Anything can and will be used against you, and anything you say can never be used for you, ONLY against you. There is no talking the cop out of being a part of fascist groups, just as there's no talking a cop out of arresting you, even if it seems like they might. Cops lie, never ever trust cops or speak to them, even if its something casual and you haven't done anything wrong. Cops will find or create something to target you, they are there to protect the wealthy and no one else. If you have family or friends or are dating or married to a cop, it's prudent to remember that they are Cops first and everything else second. It doesn't matter if they are part of any marginalized group, they choose to join the side that is actively murdering children and minorities, the side that is actively condoning abuse, rape and whatever else when it suits them. The courts, the cops, the government, none of them give a single shit about you and only are interested in how you can be exploited.

being a trans woman means that i will basically never see myself in art made by tme people. i dont just mean that i will never see transfem characters - though this is true - but that when i read books by tme authors, even queer and trans writers, i will see in their explorations of gender that they have never considered the transfeminine experience and aren't even moderately curious about it. this is multiplied by being racialized - white as default doesn't just mean that authors default to writing white characters, but their understanding of what it is to be alive is, at the end of the day, uninterested in racialized lives as part of that tapestry.

I am so fucking done with this post coming back to haunt me over and over, so let me explain:

"Taxonomy" does not inherently refer to biology. Because I'm a weird nerd on the internet and was thinking about the science of inventing systems of classification, the word happened to come to mind when I was firing off this post waiting for a tram or some shit.

IN PARTICULAR, I do not mean that medical transition makes you bIoLoGiCaLlY fEmAlE. Insofar as sex is a meaningful set of traits, transition can change all the ones that matter, and I don't give a shit. I mean the un-transitioned trans women too. I mean the trans women who never realize. I mean the young trans girls who know they're different, but don't know why yet. Every trans woman is a woman, for real, and is marginalized as a woman by a society that hates women.

"More than any other group" in the sense that if you're going to group trans women with anyone, you're grouping them with other women. Not in the sense that trans women have The Greatest Claim To Womanhood, you clowns.

The context of this post is that I am making a point about how ostensible allies to trans women will analyze trans women like weird type of she/her man instead of type of woman, and reach completely wrong conclusions through that analysis, which they then INSIST on despite evidence to the contrary. Whether it's employment, medical risk factors, mental health profiles, you will be wrong about your guesswork on all of them when you work from a starting point that isn't "trans women are a type of women".

It's radical because it addresses the root cause of an issue, which is that significant portions of society, including other queer people, have the wrong fundamental conception of trans women. It's also radical in the other senses of the word.

Finally: This is inward criticism. I am expressing frustration with other queer people. I don't care what Jeremy, 57 at the pub, has to say about my identity. I care that Elliot, 23, thinks I don't belong in lesbian spaces while he does.

reminder to visit museums, even if you feel out of place. you feel out of place because there is an established concept of inaccessibility of "high culture" to the masses, purposefully developed to distinguish between social classes.

take up space, read the plaques, get the audioguides. you are just as entitled and right in being there. visit museums, boycott museums, be expressive about your opinions about museums.

a lot of museums are free, or discounted for youth and students. take advantage of that. check your local art museum. check your local history museum. museums are there for you, they are there to educate the public, not to distinguish between class. it isn't a private collection, it's a public exhibit.

I have heard of black people warning their kids that the race of a police officer is cop and you should not expect solidarity from them. The same applies to other types of minorities.

The sexuality of a police officer is cop.

The gender of a police officer is cop.

When you become the enforcer and protector of capital, you are making the deal to be slightly favored by the system over others like you, in exchange for being its servant. Your solidarity is with the system that you serve, even if it hates you.

If you want solidarity with those the system hates, you cannot be the system's servant and defender.
