building your prayer life

the pafp method:

first praise the Lord for all that He has done, like waking you up that morning, giving you food, water, shelter, a phone, life in general, a purpose (because every day that you’re awake, it means God is not done with you), anything at all.

then ask Him for what you desire, whether it’s discipline, protection, anything. there’s no point in hiding anything from the Lord, because He knows us better than we know ourselves, but communication and relationships go two ways, so don’t expect the Lord to do everything.

ask for forgiveness along with whatever you desire, and forgive others for whatever they may have done against you. remember that this battle has never been against flesh and blood. it is against spirits. there are spirits behind EVERY person. remember that.

ask for protection over your life. pray for protection over your family, your friends, your loved ones. pray psalm 91 over your life (read it first, don’t just take my word for it) and ask Christ to cover you with His Blood. every day you wake up is another spiritual battle.

books in the Bible to read

“everything happens for a reason. even if you don’t understand it, God does, so that’s all that matters.”

the book of john: to understand Jesus and who He is (read all the gospels, the books of matthew, mark, luke & john, but especially john and honestly luke).

the book of genesis: to understand the beginning and creation of the world.

the book of proverbs: for knowledge.

the book of ecclesiastes: to change your mindset and outlook on God. ecclesiastes, though people think is upsetting, is a happy book. read it knowing you’re finding great joy in changing your mindset for the Lord.

the book of isaiah: prophecies.

the book of romans: understanding sin, salvation, growth, etc. my personal favourite, along with psalms, proverbs and esther.

the book of james: teachings of the right christian behaviour.

how to practice the fruits of the Holy Spirit

finding natural dopamine, e.g., eating.

smiling!

peace.

learning to make solutions and solve problems.

stay away from drama.

tolerate being uncomfortable. let that old man take his time crossing the road. let your friend ramble about something that excites them.

try to stay off your phone through these times.

become a good listener.

focus on your breathing. when you’re feeling rushed and impatient, slow yourself down and focus on your breathing patterns.

how to build a strong prayer life

“there is power in persistent prayer.”

p for praise. praise God always. tell Him how great He is, how fair and just He is, etc. because that’s exactly what He is. He is beyond perfect. praise God for waking you up today, for giving you food and water, a roof over your head and all the miracles He has worked in your life. use this time to show your gratefulness to the Most High!

a for ask. ask God for whatever you desire, no matter how small you think it is. whether it’s good grades, to win a sports game or to help you out in stressful situations. confide in God and trust that He will help you out, no matter what happens next.

f for forgive. ask for forgiveness from others for the sins you have committed against them, and ask for forgiveness from the Most High. however, don’t forget to forgive others, just as Christ forgave you (ephesians 4:32).

p for protect. ask the Lord to cover you, your friends, your family, etc. with the Blood of Jesus, and trust that the Lord will protect you regardless.

if you’re worrying if this prayer method is unbiblical, align it with the Lord’s Prayer and notice how it matches! if you’re struggling to pray, force yourself to pray because something is forcing you not to pray. all in all, make praying a habit and watch how your life will drastically improve!
