Now whenever a piece of media is too heartbreaking and tragic, I create in AU in my head where luffy suddenly shows up. And with luffy being luffy how could he not fix shit within 1 hour at most. Watching the ending to AOT and being like hm... No casualties would have happened if luffy was there hmm yes. And then in the end luffy gets mad at eren and hits him on the head and a cartoonish bump appears on him. "YOU BAKA!! IMAGINE ALL THE MEAT THAT YOUR BIG GUYS WOULD HAVE STEPPED ON IF I LET YOU TRAMPLE THE PLANET!!" and all eren can mutter while mikasa looks at him from afar is "gomen ne, luffy san... :(" and then luffy and mikasa kiss and then luffy goes "ummnm!! AWKWARD!!!" AND THEN HE GUM GUM BAZOOKAS THEM INTO THE SKY AND THEY TURN INTO A STAR LIKE TEAM ROCKET. And when they land, mikasa and eren are on a nice tropical island and live out the rest of their days peacefully, t hanks to luffy :)

Fun fact: they did leave Pompeii! It's estimated that the population pre-eruption was something like 20,000, and the most likely number of dead in is in the range of 1,500-4,000. So most people just did leave Pompeii, it's just that not everyone left or could leave.

It's crazy that these strikes are happening given that all the writers and actors are asking for is less than 0.3% of the revenue these studios make.

This is what gets me. The writers and actors aren’t asking for much but these CEOs are digging their heels in

It's because it sets a precedent that the CEOs are terrified to set. That they will acquiesce to worker demands if the workers are resolute enough.

Because in an ideal world for these rich fucks, the workers give up, and the CEOs win, and its reinforced in the collective public mindset that all a strike does is "disrupt the economy, deprive people of valuable products, and waste people's time". The goal is to maintain the assertion that Strikes Don't Work. I don't think they genuinely give a shit about 0.15% of their revenue. What they care about is the OPTICS.

They cannot back down, for the exact same reason that WORKERS cannot back down. Because if the workers win, it shows people just that bit more that The Poors have power and ultimately we can make the rich do what we want if we put our fucking minds to it. And that, to the rich, is bad news bears to the highest degree.
