An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
I present to you a grandfather and a granddaughter for Day 3. Fukuzawa and Kyouka bonding is something I crave from this fandom so much but there’s so little content and I just had to go and create some myself.
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
The same thing happened to this fic, as in “I thought I’d write something fluffy and then it turned into an angst train and I don’t know what the fuck happened.”
It’s my first time writing a Yosano-centric fic, though, and it’s shorter than I expected but still. Happy Yosano day. yay.
“‘It’s not just how you dress,’ I tried to argue. ‘It goes deeper. I didn’t get the right sort of education. Now take Verlaine’s case, for example …’ What did Verlaine have to do with my red kimono? An abrupt shift of thought even for me, and I felt quite sheepish about the remark. Whenever I’m feeling down and out, though, I remember Verlaine’s doleful countenance and it helps. The very weakness of the man gives me the strength to pull myself together and keep going. I firmly believe that the true glory can emerge only after the most timid introspection. In any even I want to live on, to have a life bereft of means but filled with pride.”

Dazai Osamu, “On the Question of Apparel”
Paul Verlaine (1844-96) was a French symbolist poetry whose “Chanson d’automne” became one of the most celebrated of the verse translations by Bin Ueda (1874-1916) in his epochal volume, The sound of the Tide (1905). Verlaine is also one of the poets Nakahara Chuuya liked.
***FIFTEEN SPOILER***
Paul Verlaine was Arthur Rimbaud’s partner.
From BSD Wiki:
One day, Arthur Rimbaud infiltrated the military and attempted to use Arahabaki’s calamitous power as a part of his ability, illumination. However, Verlaine failed, only obtaining the seal and ultimately freeing Arahabaki. Forcibly freed from its darkness-filled solitude, the shock gave a new humane existence - Chūya Nakahara… Rimbaud succeeded in absorbing Arahabaki during the calamity, but the larger portion of the entity maintained its own individual existence as Chūya. Beyond that, Rimbaud remembered nothing of Chūya’s true nature nor the truth behind the calamity. Now, he intended on killing Chūya, planning to recreate the memories of that day and unveil the truth. All for trying to recall the final moments of his friend and partner Paul Verlaine.
***DEAD APPLE SPOILER***
Dragon’s Head Rush
At sixteen, alongside Dazai as the partnership “Double Black” (双黒 Sokoku), the Dragon’s Head Rush came to its peak, devastating all groups of the criminal underground. After Dazai had been captured by the enemy, Chūya stormed the enemy’s base on a motorcycle, decimating countless members before reaching an unharmed Dazai. Their bickering continues until more members appear for Chūya to defeat.
When they reach Tatsuhiko Shibusawa, Chūya, enraged at the meaningless deaths of his own subordinates, unleashed Corruption. Successfully quelling Dragon’s Head Rush largely on his own, Chūya rose to Executive sooner than anticipated, allowing him access to Rimbaud’s documents. Using the information, Chūya found Verlaine alive and well, further clarifying his own origins.
So I’ve decided to create this sideblog for Bungou Stray Dogs - High School AU because I need a space without suffering for our favorite characters. The blog will not be biased towards any character or ship although the content I create is likely to be mostly Oda-related.
This blog will contain the following:
1/ My own content, including headcanons, chats/incorrect quotes, fanfiction, artwork, edits, etc. related to the high school AU. You can also request headcanons / sketches / fic ideas, etc. from me here, but as I am also a person with real life tasks to tend to, please be patient.
2/ Submissions from You. Yes, you! Feel free to submit your own content and I will consider it for posting! Of course, you’ll be fully credited. If you choose to be anonymous, that’s fine too.
3/ Reblogs of relevant content.
As I am still in the process of creating content for this blog, your suggestions are very much welcome! Feel free to contact me via ask/submission/private message.
This scene just really gets me. Those lil’ details ahhh
I feel like it’s in tiny moments like this where we can notice a very small hint of Dazai’s emotions and what he feels for people
Despite Dazai affirming that his whole suicidal monologue was all a calculated act, Odasaku knew very well that Dazai meant those words. As Dazai continues to explain his tactic to him, Oda blatantly interrupts him. He tells him to stop, to stop covering the feelings that Oda already knew darn well about.
Moments later, Oda, disappointed, walks away. Dazai lowers his gaze in what appears to be shame. He then calls out for him with this same gaze. He doesn’t want him to leave.
Oda, a person who validated Dazai to bits, turned his back on him, & despite Dazai being obsessively suicidal, having disappointed Oda just led him to this expression. We all know that Dazai makes these suicidal remarks all the time, but we never get to see this saddened gesture made with anyone else.
So, I’m still watching Violet Evergarden, there are some bits I’m not a huge fan of, but the story itself is interesting and I like the imagery so far. Currently I’m on episode seven, and I’ll probably finish out this one and start washing things for dinner.
Y’all, I am… emotionally compromised. Episode seven is like, “Hey, look, another Odasaku looking character and he’s a writer!” followed by, “Hello, darkness, my old friend…”

Content warning: death, euthanasia, suicide
-
I don’t know how much hate I’m gonna get for saying this, but I’m an advocate for euthanasia. If a person’s too old, or has terminal/chronic illnesses that make them suffer to the point of wishing for a release, they should have the right to a painless, peaceful death if they want.
In the case of suicides, it is firmly my belief that the dead should not be ridiculed for their choice. No one would want to die (and willingly hurt themselves) if they haven’t been in so much pain that they just cannot take it anymore. It’s usually a sign of bigger problems that people around them, society, or the dead themselves haven’t addressed enough. Bullying/abuse, mental/physical health issues, trauma, you name it.
I also think it’s important to talk to children about death in a positive, healthy way. Teach them what it is, what it means, how to cope with it and seek support when death happens, etc. Death is a part of life. It shouldn’t be treated as a taboo in conversations.
20. In a large lecture hall, I generally sit in the front row. In a small classroom, I either sit close to or opposite of the professor.
21. I’d rather overdress than underdress. It would at least save me some embarrassment if I happen to be at a fancy party or something like that.
22. I have hand-me-down clothes from different family members, as well as my maternal grandmother’s engagement ring (not that I can wear it, though).
23. Powering through all-nighters without immediately crashing. This one is new.
24. I want to just be able to teleport home with all of my stuff packed and taken care of. God, just thinking about it makes me tired.
25. Told my professor I had an emergency just to skip a group work day because I was too depressed to get out of bed (context: I didn’t have accommodations for mental health issues).
