Mercy MUST be some kind of legend around the supernatural world.  Not as grand or as well-known as Bran, Asil, or even Hester, but you cannot tell me that Mercedes Athena Thompson Hauptman has not unintentionally garnered an international reputation.

We know that stories of her teenage pranks against Bran were carried all the way to the wolves in Europe, but that can’t be all that they’ve heard, not by the end of Fired Touched.  You will not convince me that her Claim On the Tri-Cities declaration was not broadcast on news stations around the world.  Her actions turned the tension between humans and supernaturals on its head, directly flying in the face of both sides’ feelings and intentions and instantly making history in the process.  Maybe it wouldn’t be breaking news in Finland, or they wouldn’t have all the details like her name, but you can be damn sure they would hear about it at some point.

I mean, let’s just remember the full list of her exploits thus far.

Stopped a coup to take down the Marrok, in the process saving an alpha, indirectly causing the death of another alpha and saving an Omega wolf (Anna, through Charles) who would herself have a serious impact on the global supernatural situation

Killed a demon-possessed vampire and destroyed his maker, preventing humans from learning of vampires and going to war with them, and also setting into motion the plan of a famous Master Vampire to reclaim her seethe from rebels

Fought for and gained the exoneration of the Dark Smith, earning the attention, ire, and favor of the Gray Lords

Killed the Monster

Through happenstance, acquired a dangerously powerful and sought after magical artifact, killed a Fairy Queen, and earned even MORE attention from the Gray Lords.  To say nothing of reuniting Samuel and Ariana

Casually destroyed a WORLD-ENDING MONSTER in a battle that caused the deaths (””””deaths””””””) of several Manitou spirits.  Also, indirectly caused the extinction (?) of a fae species

Killed the Necromancer, rescuing a vampire seethe and once again stopping war between humans and vampires while also gaining attention from vampires outside the Tri-Cities

Banished (with help) a volcano god back to his volcano (and casually surviving a broken neck)

Took in the Fire Touched Aiden, claimed the Tri-Cities, and forced the humans and fae to negotiate for peace

Escaped the Lord of Night himself, used the Golem of Prague to destroy a vampire seethe, and then freed the Golem’s spirit

Like????????????????? ONE of those should be enough to build a powerful reputation.  And even if we allow that maybe the wider world doesn’t know about all of it, there’s no way that the deaths of two legendary vampires and the sudden, massive shift in relations between humans and fae would go unheralded.

Charles literally jokes to Adam that he better go pick Mercy up from Europe before she irrevocably WRECKS the supernatural political holdings of the gotdamn LoRD Of NIgHt.  We have actual in-universe jokes about a woman in her mid-thirties who fixes cars and shapeshifts into a coyote having the power to smash the political situation of an entire continent.  And that’s because she absolutely has that power, and people know it.

The myth, the legend, the icon, Mercedes Thompson.  Coyote’s daughter, indeed, who is much more famous than she realizes or wants to be.  Oh Mercy…

What do you mean Crocus didn’t take one look at this youndgster and nearly had a heart attack? Whta do you mean he didn’t remember that feisty woman’s last name and her freckles? What do you mean he didn’t call Rayleigh with a desperate, hopeful voice asking what was Rouge’s last name?

What do you mean Buggy didn’t see his captain’s eyes and grin on Ace’s face when he crashed their party in his ship? What fo you mean Buggy didn’t call Shanks to ask him who the fuck this kid was and why the fuck does he have Roger’s hair and eyes and Ms. Rouge’s freckles and smile? What do you mean he didn’t go batshit crazy internally when he heard Luffy say that Portgas D. Ace was his captain’s biological son, and that he was going to be killed for his goddamn blood?

What do you mean Rayleigh didn’t want to go and save Ace when the Visual Transponder Snails broadcasted the execution? What do you mean Shakky had to place a hand on his shoulder to stop him—from what? The Government? The Whitebeards? The world?

What do you mean Rayleigh’s heart didn’t shatter to pieces once more when Ace’s body fell to the ground, that Buggy felt despair claw into his mind when he heard Luffy’s heartwrenching cry, that Shanks didn’t curse the world and back when he came far, far too late.

What do you mean this didn’t all happen? What do you mean that they don’t care?

I mean the whole damn point of the Nativity story is that the supposed son of God (interpret Jesus how you fucking want, of course) was born to a couple of poor, exhausted peasants in the stable for the inn, and his first bed was a feeding trough for animals. That would nowadays be like a poor couple where the mother gives birth in a parking garage behind the motel because they couldn’t find a better place and nobody else would take them in. It’s a pretty gritty setting, and the idea is that God was reborn in some of the rock-bottom lowest circumstances. The only thing majestic was all the angels and shit, and of course motherly love

I get that a lot of the art portraying Madonna and Child as fabulously wealthy europeans in splendid robes and golden light was meant to glorify God + whichever nobility was sponsoring the artist, and while of course it’s genuinely beautiful art, it just always struck me as horribly missing the point, which is that the supposed son of God started in incredibly humble circumstances, among the kind of people that everyone else looks down on

So this is honestly something I am not happy I have to share with anyone. But I am in some trouble. My brother, a Trump supporting and emotionally unstable guy, has decided that Biden is going to take away my social security and tax him, a truck driver, into poverty and so I need to ‘get my shit together’ and look into getting a job.  Now that’s all well and good except I am so severely disabled that working would be difficult for me to do due to the nature of my various disabilities. On top of that, I do not have transportation. My brother refuses to accept I am disabled when he’s on one of these tangents. And he’s been having them more often since October. He is trying to force me to work in a factory across the city and apparently had been talking to his former boss behind my back for sometime about it.  I apologize about failing Kinktober expectations and honestly things are just really bad right now but I am trying very hard to put some new content out here for you all.  On top of that, I owe a $160 dollar bill that he promised to help me with but ‘forgot’ (he bought another assault rifle), and I don’t even have enough money to afford the insulin pens I need. I don’t want to take anyone’s hard earned money without earning anything, so all I ask is you please consider commissioning something from me so I can at least pay off this bill and get my $50 dollar insulin pens.
