Everytime this is reblogged, JK Rowling steps on a lego
I really dislike Kawaii Future Bass or whatever this genre is called so I made it sound shitty with a bunch of random samples.
I think today will be the greatest only because I believe it , I hope to be right .
How to Write & Create Creatures
Here’s a list of quick tips when it comes to creating your fantasy (or horror) creatures!
1) Warp and combine already existing creatures. Be inspired by real life and mythologies— put a magical twist on an already existing animal. The “Nemean Lion” is a lion in Greek mythology whose fur is impenetrable. Medusa is a woman with hair of snakes.
2) Think outside the box. A creature doesn’t have to be inspired by only living things. Beauty and The Beast has talking tea cups and clocks. If your creature is organic, think beyond your typical animals: plants, insects, bacteria, diseases, amphibians, etc.
3) Use all five senses. You don’t have to use them all at once in a description, but as the author, you should be aware of these details!
Sight: What do they look like? What are their unique features? How big are they compared to a human?
Touch: Is their skin rough like leather or soft like silk? Do they bare hair, and is it matted or greasy?
Smell: what scents come with the creature? Does the fairy smell like freshly baked muffins? Does the zombie smell like rotten eggs?
Hearing: What sounds do they make? Not just verbally but as a whole (loud footsteps, crackling bones, labored breathing, twinkling of a wand, etc.)
Taste: If they’re a rotting creature, would the salty taste of decomposition fill the air? Or does the pretty little fairy bring back memories of childhood sweets to your protagonist.
“The creature let out a low snarl, the smell of rotten flesh hitting me long before it ever came into view. Its leather-like skin was matte compared its the thin strands of greasy hair that danced in the moonlight.”
4) What sustains the creature? Does it feed off of blood, flesh, or human emotions? Is there a type of meal it would prefer or does it eat anything?
5) What is your creature’s motivation? What necessities does it need to survive? Does it need shelter, food, and water? Vampires require blood. Outside of basic survival needs… is it in search of something more material? An item or a specific person?
6) What summons your creature? Does it appear when someone rubs a magical lamp? Does it wander aimlessly until a sound catches its attention? Does the smell of blood make the monster from within come out?
7) Leave room for your reader’s imagination. While you want to thoroughly paint the picture of your creature, don’t over-explain. Instead, leave some room for your audience to fill in the gaps with their imagination. This will truly make the reading experience more unique to the reader.
8) Give it weaknesses. A creature that has limitations and rules is a realistic one. Werewolves only turn on a full moon and are weak to silver. Holy water burns a demon’s skin, and vampires can’t go out in the daylight. Is there a string of words that could paralyze it? If it can’t be killed, what can hurt it? Can it be captured or trapped?
9) Make it hard to kill. If the creatures in your story are easily defeated, that means there is less tension and conflict. Does it have immense strength or skin that is impenetrable? Make your characters think and be clever in the face of an impossible situation.
10) Does it have a home? Where does it rest? Does it live in caves with its herd or does it sleep under the beds of children? Is it a wandering monster or one that lives in the trees of a magical forest?

Since the image limit on posts is 10 images and I don’t know what paneling is, I have to break this comic up into 3 entire different posts… oops
What do you think are the meanings of different colors? like how we think red is love, yellow is happiness, blue and black are sad and so on?
Apologies in advance for the giant post, my color association greatly influenced this post.
I imagine red would be associated with the nether, death, fire, exhaustion and possibly infection, due to red being the most seen color in the nether. Its the color of the netherrack and crimson forest, and its a similar color to the fire that easily ignites inside of the hellish dimension. Exhaustion is something I think would be associated with red due to the nether being a dimension that can easily cause heat exhaustion, which occurs when your body overheats and cannot cool itself down. Infection is possible to associate with it given how we see zombie pigmen with what could be assumed to be a zombie virus/infection.
Additionally, the fungus forests we see in the nether could possibly be able to cause deadly infection via spores as an adaptation to their deadly environment, the crimson forest especially is the biome i would say could evolve to have fungi possible of causing such infection.
Because of this, poppies are seen as a symbol of death, but not a peaceful one. Leaving one outside of someone's home without warning can be interpreted as a threat.
----------------------------------------------
Yellow would, similarly to us, be associated with happiness, or rather in this case contentment, along with bees and reincarnation. The sun / sunlight is one reason for this, as it is typically a yellow and causes serotonin to be produced like it does for us in real life. Bees producing honey that can be harvested in a bottle, (which fills 3 hunger bars) is part of why they are also associated with this color as the honey they produce brings contentment to the consumer with the sweet taste and restored hunger. Also, color association.
Reincarnation should be a very obvious connection though, as Totems of Undying appear to be crafted of primarily gold and allow the user to cheat death.
Gold-colored axolotls, variants of the gold item, honey, and dandelions are commonly associated with this color and believed to bring good fortune.
----------------------------------------------
The color green is often affiliated with emeralds, along with allegiance, life, and growth. Emeralds are associated with green and with allegiance because emeralds are used in trade with villagers, and this act eventually can aid forging an allegiance with the village.
Totems of Undying have emeralds in their eyes, which is one of but not the only reason why the color is used in association with life. Experience points also appear green, and they only usually appear after taking a life. Plants in general grow quite quickly, but moss especially sees the quickest growth, which is why this color is also associated with growth.
----------------------------------------------
Currently I'm unsure about what blue should associate with, but it definitely would have some connection to magic (lapis lazuli), souls, and the ocean. Possibly darkness as well, since blue is a color we see a lot with sculk and in the Deep Dark itself.
----------------------------------------------
Purple is heavily associated with magic, portals, and the End, for quite obvious reasons.
For a quite watered down explanation, enchanting an item with magic causes the item to glow purple. The portal to the Nether appears purple, along with the obsidian used to create the frame being purple in hue. The End being associated is because, again, the obsidian appearing this time in pillars being purple in hue, the Enderdragon and endermen that appear in this dimension, chorus fruit + purpur variants, and the purple beam of light that emits from the gateway to the End Islands.
----------------------------------------------
Black is associated with wither, darkness, fatal illness, and the Void.
Wither skeletons and the Wither itself appear very dark in color, giving it its association with this color. The wither effect is also black & causes your health bar to turn a similar shade. The fatal illness part is not only a reference to the wither sickness from MC:SM, but also because the wither effect can be very deadly if it lasts for too long.
The Void appears as an almost starless sky to the player, with its primary color being black, which is why it is heavily associated with it.
Wither roses and wither skulls are seen as bad omens and bringers of death, but depending on the scenario, can also be a symbol of victory for overcoming a deadly challenge. (ex. defeating a boss in the game)
----------------------------------------------
Similar to blue, I'm not quite sure of what white should be associated with, but it could be with something like poison, (lily of the valley, poisonous in real life when consumed) the Void, (as the overworld void you can fall into is a blank white space, ive dubbed it as "the White Void") and light. (end rods, the sun, sea lanterns)

some of you may've heard about that fancy "bionic reading" typefont thats supposed to be easier for neurodivergent people to read (if you're unfamiliar, it bolds the first few letters of each word to make it easier to follow)
well guess what, its locked behind a $500 a month API to write in because fuck you!
