Bad Blood part three
I was told there were grammar issues but never found all of them so please let me know what you see.
As always, credit to the lovely @randomfanders-blog for the amazing idea!! Lemme know what y'all think!
Working for the fastest man alive, you'd think that you'd have done more research for treatments, but not at all. It's just training on getting faster. And although that's the reason your dad swears you need him to stay safe, you wish you were let in more on the planning. You're 23 for crying out loud! You can't be kept in the dark forever, but you knew he had his cryptic reasons, as always.
Which is why walking into the room when Caitlin was scolding Cisco and Barry was your favourite way to start the day.
"Well I'm the eyes and ears and he's the feet," you heard Cisco lamely explain as Barry sped into the cortex in a flurry of papers.
"He shouldn't be running around like some supersonic fireman, Cisco," you piped in. "He could have gotten himself killed," you continue and sit in the chair next to Cisco.
Barry and Caitlin got into it, along with Dr. Wells, and you sat back quietly as they discussed restraint for the billionth time already. When Dr. Wells and Caitlin walked to the dashboard, Cisco stopped Barry.
"Hey, anything weird happen out there? Your vitals spiked."
"Never better," Barry said as he answered his phone and talked to Joe.
As he walked out of the cortex and to the police station, you laughed as Dr. Wells made a comment about Barry not taking his clothes.
"I can't tell you how much I would pay to see how he fixes that " you said, unable to stop laughing. Cisco shook his head and both Caitlin and Dr. Wells left as you kept chuckling and began to get to work. You did have a job after all.
A while later, Caitlin was scolding him after telling her about his fainting and dizziness, and you helped hook him up to everything, trying not to interrupt Caitlin. When Cisco commented on her anger from Ronnie, you all were talking about how you miss him. Cisco set him up with the tread mill, trying to figure everything out and you watched him pass out and hit the wall, laughing hysterically as he did.
"I'm sorry," you said between giggles, " it's just that this only happens in cartoons. It's so much funnier in real life."
Caitlin rolled her eyes and looked at you, "Can you calm down enough to help me get him to the medical room?"
You bit your lip and nodded as you worked together to carry him and set him on the hospital. Caitlin hooked him up to an IV bag, and you all thought the work was done, but it was gone in seconds, so you and Caitlin hooked up one after the other to keep up with his quickly depleting vitals, until bag 39 lasted a few minutes, and then bag 40 took the normal amount of time to drain into his system.
When he woke up and was informed of his condition,he started saying all he needed was an IV bag, and you bit back laughter as he saw the pole full of bags. Dr. Wells told him the number of bags he used, chuckling. Caitlin told him that she came up with a new diet, which Cisco put into the terms of tacos, and then left to add cheese and guacamole, which made you laugh as Joe came in and scolded Barry. Joe then getting on Dr. Wells for not keeping Barry safe, who then yelled back at Joe about how he needed to help since he couldn't help his Dad, who was in Jail.
"You think you're so smart. /All/ of you. But you dont know what you dont know and I hope that you're clever enough to figure it out before somebody gets killed," Joe said before walking out and you all fell into silence.
"Food for thought," you said and everyone turned to you. "How is he and the police gonna figure it out if the smartest people in the room can't? What can they do that we can't?"
Barry shrugged and ran out to go back to his day job. Dr. Wells came and sat next to you, and you sighed. " I know I shouldn't be so upset, but I can't help but be tired of his superiority complex; the way he had to make us feel like we aren't trying to keep him alive and that we want people killed, Dad. None of us want to keep him safe as much as you and I," you said.
"Y/N, dont worry about Joe. You and I will prove our worth and become part of the greatest story to ever be told. Now, why dont you cool off and go grab some lunch," he said and you nodded, heading out.
It was as you were grabbing your coffee from the barista at Jitters that you saw the news, and rushed back to STAR Labs to help when you could. You got there a little too late and walked in as Caitlin was patching up Barry.
"You got Blood on my suit," Cisco said as he worked with a miners lamp on his head.
Barry looked incredulously at him as he tersely replied that some it probably belonged to the not so friendly meta, and Dr. Wells threw up a portrait on the screen.
"Danton Black. Hes a bio geneticist specialized in therapeutic cloning. Growing new organs to replace failing ones."
"Apparently Stagg stole his research and fired him," said Caitlin, sympathy displaying on her face.
Realization Barry's face, "I saw Black create duplicates of himself."
Cisco laughed, "That's pretty ironic. The guy specialized in cloning and now he can make xeroxes of himself."
"If he was experimenting on himself when he was exposed to the dark matter wave during the particle accelerator explosion-" you started to say before Cisco cut in.
"Meet Captian Clone!" He said in awe.
Everyone looked at him and he cowered a little, saying he'd find something cooler.
Barry was heading out and Caitlin asked where he was going.
"Joe was right. I'm in way over my head. I can barely fight one meta human, let alone six."
"Barry!" Dr. Wells called, "I understand. Today was a setback, but any grand enterprise has them, and we can never learn to fly without crashing a few times."
His face is wrought with defeat as he retorts, "This wasn't a grand enterprise, Dr. Wells. This was a mistake."
Barry retreats backwards and all of you watch as he leaves, before turning to your dad who looked worried. He left and went away and you awkwardly sit down and try to fix the gnawing feeling in your gut at his words. You decide that it's wrong. Your dad was a good guy and just wanted the best, so you sigh deeply and get back to work.
*A little later*
Your dad had left to go talk to Dr. Stagg. You decide to take a walk to stretch your legs and walked around for a bit, stumbling onto this weird panelling that seemed different from the rest of the wall. Like there was something behind it, but as you went to touch it, your phone chimes. You see a text from your dad saying to make sure to stay in the cortex until Barry came back, so you hurriedly went back, glancing back at the door once more before it disappeared from your view as you made your way to the cortex.
As you walked up, you saw Danton Black, and you hid as he stared at Caitlin and Cisco menacingly. You quietly walked away and called your dad when you were far enough away, as you had heard Caitlin call Barry and knew she ans Cisco would be okay.
When your dad came in, you guys both took a look at him and noticed he wasn't moving. Strange, but as you kept talking to it, it didn't move. Once you had all realised it was only a clone, Barry rushed in and freaked out, before Caitlin clued him in on what everyone else already knew.
"How did you get it?" He asked with confusion colouring his tone.
"I grew him" she answered, before going on to describe the process which she'd done to get a homemade Danton Black.
"Why isn't he moving?"Barry asked as he waved his hand in front of Homemade, as you deemed to call him, yet again.
"Take a look at the brain scans, the motor functions are on but little else," you offered.
"We think its acting as a receiver," said Cisco.
"So how do I know which one is the real one?" Barry asked
"That occurred to given your own passing out. BLACK HAS LIMITS JUST LIKE YOU. CONTROLLING THAT MANy would be exhausting. Look for the one showing signs of weakness," Caitlin told him.
Dr. Wells shrugged and said, "Just a theory, but one you might want to put to the test."
Cisco walked over excitedly and handed Barry a bar as he explained the calorie contents of it. Then Homemade moved and Joe shot it causing Caitlin to scream. Joe gave Barry a pep talk to motivate him to go Stop Danton. You them moved to help clean up the dead body and go get rid of it. Your dad followed as you dragged him out and looked at you.
"Y/N, you need to run him as far as you can so that you can get rid of him without anyone knowing. Understand?"He ordered, gaze piercing through you.
"Yes, dad, will do." You grabbed him and ran off as everyone else took care of Barry through the fight. By the time you got back, the fight was over and Barry was back. You saw the news about Danton and your heart fluttered in the sorrow you felt. Cisco named him MultiPlex and you smiled a little as Barry gave a pep talk of his own about how everyone was a part of the fighting before he left. You then nodded to your dad and he knew you'd done what needed to be done before sitting down and sighing. Life was definitely different from what you thought it would be. Dad wheeled off and you sat with Caitlin and Cisco as Barry then headed to help with an armed car robbery.
Your dad told you he had an errand that night and that no matter what, you were to stay home and not leave. When he came home, he had a bloody knife and told you he did what history needed to be done. You felt a pit in your stomach but cleaned the knife and set it away, praying that you'd get some sleep tonight.
Bad Blood pt. 2
Pt. 2 from the fic idea by @rachelscosplay
After Wells turned on the Particle Accelerator and popped a bottle of champagne, it seemed like the air was alive with the happy, excited energy emanating from all the workers at S.T.A.R. Labs, including you. But, you knew what else was coming up, and while everyone was sipping champagne, jovially talking, you walked up and out of the cortex, choosing to enjoy the night's events in the fresh, cooler air.
Raindrops were falling lightly on your skin and cooling you off. You looked at your watch and then look up, seeing the raindrops slow to a stop before starting to float up. You hurry back into the building, finding the most stable point as the particle accelerator explodes. There's pure chaos both inside the labs and out, as you rush in to the cortex, where Caitlin, Cisco, and Ronnie all seem to be missing as many of the lab technicians and other engineers are panicking and suddenly the waves of dark matter ripple through the city. You hurry around to help those who were hurt pretty badly by the explosion, and everything hits you at once.
The worst has happened. You knew what Dr. Wells was planning, knew things had to happen as they did, but you were promised there were only going to be injuries. You had believed there would be minor damage, but as you spend the next few hours surrounded by paramedics, police, and even coroners. You feel dread settle in your stomach like a rock as you count the 17 dead, identifying them before they're zipped up in a body bag and taken to be examined. You notice Dr. Wells taken in a neck brace on a gurneys and many others following, tears flowing down your cheeks as you feel betrayed and hurt over a broken promise. This is the one thing you begged not to happen, and you later go to find and confront him.
When you finally meet up with him, you see him in a wheel chair, staring in the room at a patient who you knew was Barry Allen, and would some day soon become the Flash. As you come up to Dr. Wells, he wheeled himself around and his expression softens only slightly as he looks at you. "Y/n, my darling, why have you been crying?"
"You broke your promise. This wasn't supposed to happen..." you say.
"Y/n, we are making history. You get to help the Flash become the Flash! There are variables that I can't always predict, either? Everything is okay! See? He's alive. I'm alive, and so are you."
You shook you head and refused to meet his eyes. "You told me there would be injuries and that no one would die. You told me this needed to happen. That we did this for a reason but that everyone would come out stronger and survive. It makes me wonder whether you knew about all this or not, and I'm wondering what my dad is actually planning that would cause him to lie to me," you say, meeting his gaze when you finish your last statement.
"Even you, no matter how skilled you are, cannot save everyone or predict what's gonna happen next. You have to wake up and realise that not every promise is in my power to control." He turned back to Barry before continuing. "This is our chance to become a part of something. Don't you want that?" He asks and looks up at you.
A few days later, you smoothed out your dress and met up at the hospital with Dr. Wells who was now confined to his wheelchair. He smiled at you when you approached and asked, "Ready to be a part of something greater?"
You nodded with a smile and he wheeled himself in to talk to Joe. You followed a bit behind while they talked and studied Barry, wondering how someone who looked so fragile, someone who looked like they were going to die any moment was expected to become the world's fastest man alive. When Dr wells returned by your side, he nods and you and Caitlin help get him to S.T.A.R. Labs.
9 months Later
You were walking into S.T.A.R Labs and talking with Cisco about ways you could possibly wake him up, and Cyberstalking him on Facebook was a good idea. As per your conversation, Cisco puts on Poker Face by Lady Gaga, and both you and Cisco sing along while Caitlin criticizes the music, right as Barry shot up and freaked out. You stayed back as Cisco and Caitlin fussed over him for a bit, calling Dr. Wells into the Cortex as you hear, "...lightning gave me abs?"
You chuckled and see Dr. Wells enter as Barry inquires about how long he's been in a coma. "Nine months," says Dr. Wells and smiles before continuing. "We have a lot to discuss." He and Barry leave the cortex as you hang back with Caitlin and Cisco, smiling and shaking your head at them and making conversation about the way Barry was physically and mentally. Having had quite a few scares there was actually a lot to talk about. When they came in, you heard him ask about Iris.
"She talks a lot," you and Caitlin say simultaneously.
"Also, she's hot," Cisco piped up and you rolled your eyes.
" I need to go," he says and starts to the exit.
"Caitlin's right," you pop in. "We need to take more tests since you're awake and we dont even know the extent of the changes you're going through."
He shakes his head and says, "Thank you for saving my life."
"Really?" Caitlin says as he quickly walks in and asks to keep the sweatshirt.
A little while later, you were all at the airstrip, setting up for the testing Barry's speed and poking fun at Cisco for the "safety gear" he'd gotten for Barry. As Barry stepped out you bit your lip and looked away to stop from laughing really hard as Cisco explained what was gonna happen.
"So then what do you two do?" He says gesturing to you and Cisco.
"I make the toys," Cisco says proudly, explaining the gadget he was handing Barry and then they turn to you.
"I have many talents," you say with a smirk, "but I mostly provide help to Dr. Wells as we fix up S.T.A.R. Labs and annoying Cisco and Caitlin. I'm an extra perspective here to make sure things end up going smoothly."
Barry nods before turning to Caitlin. "You don't smile much," he said and you cringed as you felt your soul leave your body. /why Barry?/ you thought as he was put in his place by Caitlin, who then walks off. After being warned by Dr. Wells, Barry sets off running and you all see flashes of lightening marveling at his speed!
Until he loses focus and crashes, breaking his wrist...
Back at the lab, Caitlin explained Barry his fractures, and the amazing way they healed while Cisco commented on his needing to stop.
"We find out he has speed healing and you're concerned with him learning to stop?" You tease Cisco.
Dr. Wells talked to him about the field and asked him what made him lose focus, as he explains his story, something seems wrong, but you nod sympathetically and then Dr Wells let's him know he's one of a kind as you process what was said.
A little later, Barry bursts in angrily demanding to know if he wasn't the only person affected, and you all shared a look before Wells told him he wasn't sure.
"You said this city was safe! That there was no residual danger, but that's not true. So, what really happened that night?"
"Well... the accelerator went active, we all felt like heroes, and then... it all went wrong," Wells started as you pulled up an image of the accelerator on the screens. "It all went wrong. The dimensional barrier ruptures, unleashing unknown energies into our world. Antimatter, dark energy, X elements...'
"Those are theoretical," Barry points out and you bite your tongue to keep from making a sarcastic remark, keeping your eyes on the ground.
"And how theoretical are you? We mapped the dispersion throughout and around Central City. Though we have no way of knowing exactly what or... who was exposed, we've been searching for other meta-humans like yourself," Caitlin says carefully.
"Meta-humans?"
"That's what we're calling them," you explained as Cisco commented with excitement about how cool this all was.
"This is not cool!" Barry snapped back. "A man died. Mardon must have gotten his powers the same way I did and he's still out there! We have to stop him before he hurts anyone else." He continued before starting to head out of the cortex.
"Barry, that's a job for the police," You piped in, trying not to make this worse.
"I work for the police,"he said, turning back around, and you felt like you'd made a mistake.
"As a forensic assistant," Dr. Wells replied and Barry turned on him.
"You're responsible for this. For him."
"What's important it YOU! Not me. I lost everything. I lost my company. I lost my reputation. I lost my freedom. And then you broke your arm and it healed in three hours. Inside your body could be a map to a whole new world of Genetic therapies, vaccines, medicines. Treasures buried deep within yourself and we cannot risk losing everything because you want to go out and play hero!"
Everyone was silent for a second, Dr. Wells and Barry holding a stare while you, Cisco, and Caitlyn tried not to feel too uncomfortable.
"You're not a hero. You're just a young man who was struck by lightning."
Barry looked disbelievingly at Dr. Wells before looking at the three of you to say something. When none of you did, he turned and walked out of the cortex. Everyone was quiet and then Cisco left to his workshop, Dr. Wells left to go somewhere else, Caitlin went into the lab, and you sat at the computer desk trying to get rid of the residual awkwardness left in the room.
A little while later
You, Caitlin, Cisco, and Barry were gathered around the table as Barry explained about how he was going over cases from the past 9 months and how the metas were busy. He let you know he doesn't blame any of you but he needed help catching them. Caitlin looked terrified, Cisco looked absolutely excited like he was part of his favourite show, and you schooled your expression into being neutral.
"If we're gonna do this, I have something that might help," Cisco said, and you found yourselves in the workshop as Cisco revealed a red suit and explained the all the features of the suit to Barry, and Caitlin talked about the satellites to help find Mardon, explaining the place that they picked up.
Barry then suited up and headed out as you, Caitlin, and Cisco headed into the cortex. When he arrived you and Cisco were trying to get his attention and he answered, explaining the issue of the tornado and his solution to it. You all took a second to think about it, Cisco explaining that he'd have to try and Caitlin worried he couldn't handle it.
"I have to try," Barry replied as you watched is vitals and speed.
"The suits holding up," said Cisco happily and Caitlin showed him his vitals, saying "But he's not."
"He can do this," Cisco said. "I know he can."
"You can do this, Barry," you said, at the same time Wells did. All of you looked at him in surprise as he coached Barry on how to do this after taking responsibility for all the damage.
And you all watched on screen as Barry was able to stop the tornado and Cailtin tried to get him to respond, calling his name out through the coms, until he answered and let you know he was okay.
Everyone celebrated and breathed a sigh of relief since the danger was now over.
Bad Blood
Idea given on my personal blog by @rachelscosplay. My first ever Flash Fanfiction. Hope you enjoy
Sometimes, we do awful things. Absolutely terrible things to prove that we are loyal to someone or something. That we love and respect them, and to prove that there is nothing we wouldn't do for them, but that doesn't mean we don't break after doing horrible things, and it's never to late to turn around. At least, one would hope.
*Reader's POV*
The day started off normally for everyone else around Central City. Getting coffee, running late for work, taking kids to school, and other such normal, run of the mill things people typically da, except for anyone who was in or going to S.T.A.R. Labs that day. Due to the very exciting event that had been growing a lot of chatter from both the scientific community, and those who opposed: the particle accelerator being turned on. The people gathered outside with their signs and their chants, others lining up to get in to the press conference that was scheduled with Dr. Wells. Well, supposedly Dr. Wells, but also his assistant/PR person, which was you.
You had worked tirelessly, side by side with him and all the others at S.T.A.R. Labs, hoping to make it to this day. Everyone was super excited and a little nervous thanks to the outburst from Hartley walking out after a frustrating conversation with Dr. Wells. It had put quite a few people on edge about what had him storming away, even though it was a generally agreed upon opinion that he was a giant dick to everyone since he loved proving he was better than everyone. However, he was also Dr. Wells' trusted little pet, and now everyone was far more nervous about what exactly was going on with them.
You spent the next few hours before the press conference trying to keep everyone calm and assure them that everything was, in fact, going smoothly and that Hartley walked out over a minor incident. While most were happy with the explanation, including Cisco, some were dubious, like Dr. Caitlin Snow. You liked Caitlin well enough, she was sweet and her husband was nice, but she always seemed dubious of anything that could remotely gone wrong. She was one of the first to ask if there was any sort of tiny problem. You spent a lot of time reassuring her over the years and learned how to word things in a way so that she wouldn't find anything else to pick at to worry about.
After finally getting everyone to be calm, you left to go upstairs to the parts of the labs that were more open to the public, finding Dr. Wells in his office who was practicing his speech and making sure his appearance was perfect for the umpteenth time. You knocked on the door after checking your watch, as keeping him on schedule being part of your job description, and asked, "Are you ready, Dr. Wells?"
He turned to you slowly and a smile spread across his face. "Look at me, Y/N. Do I not look ready?"
You laughed and shook your head before motioning to the foyer. "I'll be back after grabbing Mr. Ramon, Dr. Snow, and Mr. Amell, as per your request." You excused yourself and hurried to grab them, trying to keep everything running on time. Thank God CC Jitters was close by enough to run and grab lots of caffeine throughout the day.
When everyone was finally gathered and in place, you introduced everyone and had them all line up, Dr. Wells took the stage and you stood slightly to the right and behind the podium, ready to handle any mishaps, should they happen. As he begins his speech, you look around, noticing a commotion in the crowd, as does everyone else. Dr. Wells makes a comment on it before moving on and after a couple of people being mentioned and some questions answered, the press conference ends smoothly and the countdown to turning on the accelerator starts.
Everyone takes a deep breath, smiles, and claps before returning down to their positions. Everyone was so excited, you could feel the room vibrating and the chatter that was going about as the face of science was about to be changed. The storm was worrisome, though, and it grew heavier every second, dimming down the excitement with worry. While Dr. Wells assured everyone that they were perfectly fine to go ahead, it was with hesitation that the particle accelerator was turned on.
Really want to write fanfics but also really wanna watch the flash
