Since we're bringing Mannie Fresh to Chicago tomorrow for his first ever solo DJ set and performance in the city, I figured it was only right to put together some sort of list.
So here it is. The Best Mannie Fresh Beats From 1996-2000 that aren't available on Spotify. It's a damn shame, too. Some of his best work has yet to hit the service. Enjoy and come out tomorrow to see him do his thing. Reggie's Rock Club. 9pm. 17+. $5.

Barb Mix, November 1997.
I recently found this cassette in a massive CaseLogic tape case in my childhood closet. The only labeling on the black Maxell is "Barb Mix 97," which is how I used to title all of my mixes, until I began giving them actual titles sometime in 1998 (when I got a CD burner). Based on the tracks and when the latest inclusion dropped via retail, I'm guessing with 99% certainty that this mix was made in late-November 1997. I wish I would've dated it more specifically, but these are the breaks.
Since I don't know how to rip tapes, I figured I'd just post the tracklist with links to the songs. You've obviously heard most if not all of them (they weren't really too deep), but if you are wondering what I was bumping in late-97, then this is it. Enjoy.

15 More No Limit Albums Worth Checking Out
Thanks to the good people at Complex (s/o David Drake!), I was able to pen one of my favorite pieces to date: The 25 Best No Limit Albums list. Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a NL stan, so this list was a passion piece for me.
I wish I could've stretched the list to 30 (or 40), but I'm thankful that any major publication would even give that much space to the Tank in 2013. I know a lot of people thought/think No Limit was super corny, but I really don't give a shit. Read it and learn something.
Regardless of how history has been rewritten, everyone on the planet wasn't just listening to Jay-Z, Biggie, 2Pac, Outkast, Wu-Tang and Nas in the late 90s. There was a ton of other movements that were super popping and revered, despite what the powers that be lead you to believe.
To this day, I've still never seen anything like the No Limit craze. White kids from the sticks getting TRU tats on their stomachs, people of all races wearing hollow NO LIMIT RECORDS chains, teenagers skipping school to be the first with Da Last Don album, etc.
I've always found it odd that rappers, bloggers, tweeters, etc. love to sing the praises of UGK and Eightball & MJG (knowing damn well they weren't checking for them in their 90s heyday), but never give it up for Master P and the Tank, who were 10 times more popular. I have my theories about this, but I'll save them for a later date.
With that being said, here are 15 albums I left off the list, but are worth checking out if the piece has you digging through NL's catalog.
C-Murder - Trapped In Crime
Various Artists - West Coast Bad Boyz II
Silkk The Shocker - Made Man
Steady Mobb'n - Pre-Meditated Drama
Snoop Dogg - Da Game Is To Be Sold Not To Be Told

Snoop Dogg - Tha Last Meal
TRU - Da Crime Family
Sons of Funk - Game Of Funk
Skull Duggery - These Wicked Streets
Mean Green - Major Players
Magic - Thuggin'
Master P - Ghetto Postage
Gambino Family - Ghetto Organized
Prime Suspects - Guilty Til Proven Innocent

No Limit Sports Management (NLSM) is a branch of No Limit that deals with sports agency for athletes of all sports. They take care of contract and endorsement negotiations and make sure the athlete is taken care of. Most of the athletes under the negotiation of No Limit Sports Management right now are players in the NBA and CBA, but recently they added NFL star running back Ricky Williams. Also, most of the athletes come from less forunate and underpriveleged childhoods in the ghetto. This way NLSM can in a way understand their past and problems and help them strive for the future
