So a cool way to communicate with your spirit friend/companion/spouse(s) is telepathy.
I wanted to write a bit about it on here for your viewing pleasure. :)
If you’re reading this post I’m going to assume you already have a spirit you’re familiar with or are trying to get to know. Make sure they’re safe and not a random creeper off the street! Don’t need any creeps around.
A way I learned recently(thanks to a fanfic) that works is to imagine yourself and the spirit in the same place. Like your room or a nice garden or even where you currently are or something. Say hello, or ask a question and listen. And that’s basically it. Continue conversation from there. You could ask in your mind or out loud without even having to imagine yourself and the spirit there, as that does sometimes take a bit of time. I usually think out loud so to say. I sort of imagine my voice coming from out of my head. Which…. Usually comes off as yelling. (But that may be due to our bond/link thing.) Sometimes the spirit will be eager to answer and answer you before you even finish your question. This helps me as Doc does this a lot. You won’t hear the answer out loud obviously it’s more like a random thought that came out of nowhere. Depending on how your spirit bud speaks.
Another thing that makes a difference is how much energy your spirit has. Sometimes their energy gets drained and they may need more, all you have to do is make em a nice cuppa. Or even just a glass of water. That should help replenish their energy. (That also could just be Doc though. We had some spirits who kept attacking us and draining his energy. So if their energy randomly gets low and neither of you know how, you may want to look into that. Could be a sign that trouble is around.)
I have found, however, that the more physical foods they eat, or the more interaction with our plane, the stronger they get. I.e. The more they eat the more energy they get. Or it may be that your friend is just a quiet person or is shy. Like us they have different moods and personalities.
I’m not so sure how to tell the difference between your mind making things up and a spirit saying stuff…There’s a post someone made here on tumblr somewhere I’ll have to find that pointed out the difference between your own thoughts and a spirit. I pretty much know what’s me and what isn’t. And if I have doubts I just keep asking a question till I /know/ it’s Doc answering me. (He usually gets a little peeved by it so I’ve stopped repeating the statement/question in my head over and over and over and just wait till we’re in a quiet place.)
But I do know that they’ll sometimes say stuff you wouldn’t even think to say. Not bad things just phrases or words you don’t use.
Something you want to do is to find out what helps you hear better, do you hear more clearly when you’re lacking sleep/food/water or when you’re well nourished and have had enough sleep. Does the kind of food you eat help or make things worse? For me I usually hear better when I’m lacking sleep, but I’ve found for most people it’s the opposite.
Meditation/going into a trance can do wonders to help you listen and hear spirits talking to you. It helps your mind focus and let go of your thoughts as well as open up your third eye and all that. All in all it’s very good for tuning in to spirits. Going into a trance can help and is a good way to start, but it isn’t always necessary. You can with practice telepathic communication without having to go into a trance.
Read to them! Find a good book or fanfic and just start reading it. It’s fun to hear their reactions to certain characters/events. And if you don’t hear them react while you read ask them after what they thought of it. It’s easy and fun. You can read out loud or even just in your mind. I don’t think you need to project it out while you’re reading. Just tell them you would like to read to/with them and they may be able to tune into your inner narration.
One thing that helps me are supplements. I take Skullcap for mood health and found that it also helps with clairvoyance. If you’re going to take that route though the best way is to look up what plants can help and make sure they’re not poisonous. Also check on what a good amount to take is. You don’t want to accidentally take too much of something. Also make sure you’re not allergic too. Or pregnant/nursing. Most supplements say not to take while preggo.
There’s also the psychedelic drugs like cannabis and shrooms, but I don’t do those. . So I’m not the person to ask about them. Sorry :/
Always. Do. Research. When it comes to stuff like that.
If you’re just starting you may only be able to hear your spirit buddies for a little bit. Just keep at it! It takes time to get to know how a spirit communicates and to get better at hearing/speaking telepathically. But it’s not impossible.
Anyway, yeah. These are some tips. I Hope they help!

Welcome to Week 3 of The Reflective Witch: Journaling Prompts! This week, we’re focusing on Spiritual Connection, an essential part of many witches’ practices. Whether you work with deities, ancestors, spirit guides, or the universe itself, building a relationship with the spiritual world can bring profound meaning and guidance to your path.
Through journaling, we can explore these connections more deeply, reflect on our experiences, and find clarity on how to nurture and grow our spiritual bonds. Let’s dive in!
Journaling Prompts: Spiritual Connection
⛥ Who or what do I feel most connected to spiritually?
Reflect on the spiritual forces or beings that you feel closest to. This might include deities, ancestors, spirit guides, or simply the energy of the universe.
Write about why you feel drawn to this connection. How does it manifest in your life, and what does it mean to you?
⛥ How can I strengthen my relationship with my spiritual allies?
Every relationship requires nurturing, including spiritual ones. Think about what steps you could take to deepen your bond with the beings or forces you work with.
Consider practices like offerings, prayer, meditation, or simply spending time in nature. What feels authentic and meaningful to you?
⛥ What signs, symbols, or synchronicities have I noticed recently?
Spiritual connections often communicate through subtle signs or patterns in our lives.
Reflect on any signs, dreams, or synchronicities that have stood out to you lately. What do you think these messages might mean?
⛥ What blocks or doubts do I have about my spiritual connection?
It’s natural to feel uncertainty or experience roadblocks in your spiritual practice.
Write about any doubts, fears, or challenges you’re facing in your connection. How can you begin to work through these feelings to foster greater trust and openness?
⛥ What does my ideal spiritual practice look like?
Imagine the most fulfilling and aligned spiritual practice you could have.
Describe in detail what this would look like. What daily, weekly, or seasonal rituals would you include? How would it feel to embody this connection fully?
Bonus Activity: Spiritual Altar Dedication
Create a Spiritual Connection Charm
Craft a charm or talisman that symbolizes your bond with a spiritual ally or the divine.
What you’ll need:
☾ A small object (a crystal, pendant, or pouch)
☾ Corresponding items (herbs, oils, or sigils tied to the energy you want to connect with)
☾ A quiet space for focusing your intent
⛥ Steps:
☾ Choose an object that feels meaningful for your spiritual connection. For example, a clear quartz crystal might symbolize clarity and divine energy.
☾ Add corresponding items to amplify the energy. You could anoint it with oil, wrap it in thread, or place herbs in a small pouch.
☾ Hold the object in your hands and focus on your intent. Speak a dedication aloud, such as, “I empower this charm as a symbol of my connection to [spiritual ally]. May it strengthen our bond and remind me of your presence.”
☾ Keep this charm near your altar, wear it, or carry it with you to feel supported by your connection.
๋࣭ ⭑⚝ How to Use These Prompts 🕯
Take your time as you explore these journaling prompts. Spiritual connection is a deeply personal journey, and your answers may evolve as you grow in your practice. You don’t need to have all the answers right now! This is a space for discovery and reflection.
You may also want to revisit these prompts periodically, especially when you feel your connection shifting or deepening.
As always, feel free to share your experiences, reflections, or even photos of your altar (if you’re comfortable) in the comments. Let’s inspire and support each other as we explore the beautiful world of spiritual connection.
Next Week: Spellcraft and Ritual Design
Next week, we’ll dive into Spellcraft and Ritual Design, exploring how to craft powerful, personalized magical workings. Get ready for prompts that will help you fine-tune your magical practice!
A guide to travel altars for Medusa. Please tell me if you want a certain deity covered!
In this guide, I’m assuming you’ve added a tea-light or LED candle. It isn’t necessary, but it’s not going to be included in any of these guides. I’m also going to be assuming you’ve added a photo of the deity and prayers. These guides will not include those, either.
I feel Medusa most when I am confident in my strength. When mentally I am making the right choices, when logic outweighs my emotion and allows me to settle in the real. But I also feel her working through me as I heal, when I go to therapy, When I work through the SA that happened to me, I feel her solidarity and I feel her presence.
When I am expanding my knowledge, educating myself, defending my sisters, when I am healing. I feel that is Medusa working through, I don't like that she is put into a category of 'Dark Goddesses' but I understand why in terms of the archetype such as like a Madonna and the Whore.
But it feels very outside scope without an understanding of her and who she truly is, recognizing both her origins in the Greek Mythos where she is the most beautiful Gorgon and the Roman myth-Adaptation where she is Athena's priestess and asaaulted I think her core in both of these tales is that she was a Woman. In which ever form she was always beautiful, her head as a ward for centuries against evil.
To place her into the Dark Goddess/Feminine, arbituary boxes I feel is a diservice not just to her but to ourselves.
She is multifaceted just as we are, allow yourself to grow,to heal. You have always been more than your body, you are worth more than just a pretty face or perhaps a 'head' so-to-speak.
Explore, enjoy yourself. Be Medusa in your strength and understanding. Defend yourself for you have the right to a beautiful life just as any and please cultivate your garden and silence your offenders by simply turning them to stone and continuing to bask in the warmth of your greenery.
Anpu (Anubis) Stimboard for the wonderful protector of the dead, weigher of the heart, and compassionate god as a digital offering!! (I'm pagan, big surprise)
hi yall, another purely based in UPG, new agey post! historically, deity offerings for the ancient egyptians often took the form of art/sculpture/hymns, incense (like frankincense or myrrh), or offerings of food (especially meat and bread) and drink (wine/ale, mostly). dialogue with the gods was often facilitated through the pharaohs or funerary rites, but your average person had access to daily magic and regular temples as well.
Greatly inspired by @khaire-traveler's wonderful subtle worship series, which can be found here.
Honor your ancestors/souls that have passed
Visit cemeteries; leave flowers at graves (with permission); or help clean up gravesites (if allowed)
Learn about and uphold Ma'at
Make a playlist or listen to songs that remind you of him or you think he'd like
Make a collage/moodboard/pinterest board/similar collection of photos and images you associate with him, especially if some of the images are your own
Wear a piece of jewelry or other clothing item that reminds you of him
Light a candle or incense that reminds you of him (safely)
Carry a picture of him in your wallet, pocket, phone case, etc. or as a phone or computer wallpaper
Have jackal, wolf, dog, or scales imagery
Allow yourself to mourn over difficult changes or the end of relationships; allow yourself to miss people
Become comfortable with change; take new risks, try new things, accept difficult changes
Hold onto any family heirlooms; keep items from people who have passed in your life
Support humanitarian organizations, especially funeral funding or suicide prevention ones
Learn about death; acquaint yourself with the idea of death; figure out what you believe happens after death
Learn about different mummification practices especially Egyptian ones
Hold others and yourself responsible for their/your actions; apologize or make amends when possible/appropriate
Let go of people or things that do not contribute to your life in a positive way
Remember that rest is productive; take breaks when you need them
Practice truthfulness and keep your promises
Don't feel obligated to forgive people; you do not have to forgive them even if they've apologized to you
Make charms/other items for deceased loved ones especially protective ones or ones with his image and leave them on their gravesites (if possible) or on an ancestor altar
Help out those who are grieving (cook them a meal, help pay for funeral services, be a shoulder they can cry on, etc.)
I may add more to this list in the future. Suggestions are always appreciated.
Also known as Anpu, this Egyptian god is often depicted as a man with the head of a jackal. Anubis walks between life and death, judging those who have passed on to see if they are worthy of eternal peace and guiding lost souls to the afterlife. He is the protector of burial sites and graveyards.
Offerings to Anubis can include but are not limited to; Gold, Hematite, bandages for the dead, mumification tools, caskets/coffin shaped items, dead bugs, plants, Judgement scales, feathers, hearts and even the souls of his worshippers. You may even help be a guide to lost souls as a way to worship Anubis.
In context with this post on sigil making, you need to break up letters into their basic shapes.
I’ve gotten a few messages from people who don’t know how to do that, which is totally understandable, so here’s a guide.
I didn’t include vowels because you don’t use vowels when making this kind of sigil.
I don’t really know what people generally call this method of sigil making, so I’m just calling it “Letter Shaping” because you’re using the basic shapes from certain letters.
EDIT: It’s one of many variations of the ‘Spare Method’ created by Austin Oswald Spare in the early 1900s
This is the most common form of sigil making, and it allows the most creative influence. As you see above the sigils are for nearly the same thing, yet the sigils came out completely different. Not because the purpose was different, but because I approached them both a different creative way, and that’s what I like so much about this method. There’s a lot of freedom and personalization involved.
(UPDATE: Here’s a link to a guide on how to deconstruct letters down to basic shapes)
This was the first method of sigil making I ever learned, from a post by @the-darkest-of-lights.
I decided to make my own tutorial on it with my spare time.
Happy sigil making! I’ll be making more of these on other methods of sigil making I think, because there’s so many different methods, and this was quite enjoyable to make.
(I know that you can make sigils with the other various planetary numerology squares but honestly I still haven’t figured out how, I only know this one.)
