It's been a hot minute since I have last said something on here, and I'd like to apologize for that, but I'm just not really that active on Tumblr anymore mainly due to personal life and other stuff keeping me occupied. I'm much more active on my Bluesky if you wish to see more posts from me.
I'd also like to apologize for the kind of... hot take that I have to share and this is regarding Ovensmash and the reception it has been recieving as of late and how it lowkey upsets me as a fan of this particular game. This will mainly be a repost of what I have said on Bluesky regarding this topic so don't expect too many changes between this and the original Bluesky post.

People have zero faith in Ovensmash and it makes me sad cause this is probably my favorite Cookie Run game to have came out recently.
Kingdom's gameplay is too idly for me, Ovenbreak, while it has gameplay, it gets extremely repetitive after a while, and ToA? ..... So how's those legendary releases going? (Honestly I could go on an entire rant about how much ToA's gameplay fell off for me but that's a story for another time) Ovensmash has my favorite gameplay loops, genuinely fun moments goofing off with friends and one of my favorite launch rosters in all of the series. So seeing how little faith people have in it just sucks. The amount of scapegoating, finger pointing calling out "Brawl Stars Ripoff" I've seen for this game alone is probably enough to get me enough money to move out and live in my own apartment.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of the criticisms toward this game and the way Devsis handled it are ABSOLUTELY WARRANTED. Ovensmash is not a perfect game by any means and the buggy launch did a lot of Irreversible damage to this game's reputation and I don't blame anyone for giving up on it immediately because of how poorly it and the marketing was handled (especially that rookie creator contest, good grief that was terrible...) but I really don't think Ovensmash's failure is completely at fault for the tank in Devsis's income but rather is a microcosm of the overall issue with the way Devsis handles their IP as a whole. (A lot of the main critisms Devsis has gotten with OS could also be applied to their other games too like optimization, lack of communication and questionable marketing and business decisions) So purely putting the blame on OS and other recent games (not counting the upcoming ones like Crumble and New World, those ones I do believe were not necessary) feels really disingenuous especially to the dedicated fans of those specific games.
Dooming and glooming is also not helping at all either. As bad as things sound rn, I don't think any of these games are getting shut down anytime soon unless I'm proven otherwise. While I understand the sentiment of being critical especially now with the state of things, I feel like people can be a bit too cynical with their critiques to the point where I wonder "do you even like this?" It gets to a point where there are people who actively WANT these games to shut down (I've already seen a few too many posts on Tumblr alone with that exact mindset, one of which especially pissed me off with its have its cake and eat it too mentality like you can't just say "Oh no offense to OS fans but your game should die uwu" like idk about you but it gives me an extreme ick. That'd be like if I came up to you and said "I think Pokkén Tournament should die, no offense though <3 ") and it just overall doesn't feel fair to the people who really do love these games and want to see things through. Yes, Ovensmash isn't doing the best, yes it isn't perfect, and yes I mainly wanted to play it because of one particular blood sausage cookie. It may be a mess but dammit it's MY beautiful mess, and I want nothing more than to see it grow into something more in its future just like how the other games in the franchise were allowed to.
Overall, I don't think things are as bad as people are saying. I'm still having a lot of fun with Ovensmash despite everything and I do hope Devsis can get their damn act together and fix what's pulling them back. I think the reason this game gets scapegoated so much is because of how new and how different it is compared to other games in the franchise, but honestly that's part of why I love it so much. I love Ovensmash BECAUSE it is so different and takes a refreshing approach for the series. Sure it plays similarly to a certain OTHER Moba title, but give this game some time to grow and I think it'll be able to figure out more for itself overtime. Call me an optimist, but really I'm being more cautiously optimistic with a side of realism. That being said, maybe there is hope for those little biscuits, we'll just have to wait and see, cause that's all we really can do atm.

And while I'm here I do wanna give a shout out to the Ovensmash community and the amount of cool people I've talked to and shared fan arts with. You lot are the best and I wish you nothing more than the best of luck on whatever goal you're trying to accomplish. Thank you for taking this time to read my ramble, I shall now go back to my hibernation. 💜❤️💜❤️

Not this post but, once again, the US government is trying to pass off KOSA, Screen, App store responsibility act, otherwise known as bad internet bills.
We been through this song and dance multiple times, you should know that if these laws pass, it'll be a huge invasion of privacy, and not be safe for adults, teens, and children.
Call your representitives and inform as many people as you can, keep fighting for our privacy rights.
My biggest tip for fanfic writers is this: if you get a character's mannerisms and speech pattern down, you can make them do pretty much whatever you want and it'll feel in character.
Logic: Characters, just like real people, are mallable. There is typically very little that's so truly, heinously out of character that you absolutely cannot make it work under any circumstance. In addition, most fans are also willing to accept characterization stretches if it makes the fic work. Yeah, we all know the villain and the hero wouldn't cuddle for warmth in canon. But if they did do that, how would they do it?
What counts is often not so much 'would the character do this?' and more 'if the character did do this, how would they do it?' If you get 'how' part right, your readers will probably be willing to buy the rest, because it will still feel like their favourite character. But if it doesn't feel like the character anymore, why are they even reading the fic?
Worry less about whether a character would do something, and more about how they'd sound while doing it.
I don't remember where I saw this piece of advice so I can't credit it, unfortunately
But it was along the lines of "instead of asking whether something is out of character, ask 'what would it take for this character to do this'"
Which I think fits really nicely with this advice of making the actual action itself also feel in character
